Super Mario New Super Mario Bros. Wii

As a kid, I never had the patience to sit through an entire old school Mario game. In Mario 3, I always got to around World 7 before I got up and found something else to do.

Geez, ADD is rampant with you brats. The early 1980s NES games, you either beat that **** in one playthrough, or you started it up again after school, after dinner, or the next day.

He's older than me and I'm pretty sure ADD wasn't rampant during the 80's

I once sat through 2001: A Space Odyssey and walked away getting the general jist of the plot (and a jist is all you can get, because Kubrick sacrifices the content of the source material of his films for the sake of cinematic showmanship through unique/daring camera shots and long silences, but I digress). I doubt I have ADD. Those Mario games were just long as hell, and I only ever knew where to get the first whistle in Mario 3.

I'm going to go to Target later and try to get this. I hope it'll be easy to find. Has anyone who bought it noticed that it's selling out?

You should be alright but the GameStop I went to said that it's been selling pretty good and ordered a lot of copies. They had to go behind the counter to pull some out and make sure that they had enough to fulfill their reserved orders before selling it to me. Luckily they still had quite a few left to fulfill their reserve orders and sell to people who didn't reserve.

The Wal-Mart nearby though appeared to be running out. But to be fair their electronics department sucks when it comes to their offerings. Hence why I often by my video games at GameStop and my blu-rays at Target (whose blu-ray offerings kick ass).

True, games back then took a lot of trial and error, built character and taught us a lot about dedication, which of course made us better lovers in return. But I wish the New Mario Bros. Wii game refrained from employing Mario's gay "yee-woooowwwww!!" stereotypical goofy bad Italian voice, since it annoys me and didn't exist in 1993, which is the last time I was ever happy.

Seriously? Mario's voice has made you miserable since then? It's not that bad.

Target had bunch.

My girlfriend and I got up through World 2's mid level castle, before we decided to take a break.

The bubble definitely makes the game more accessible. Whenever things start looking tough she just presses A and hangs out in the bubble while I get through it.

It's fun so far! :yay:

I can't believe GameStop didn't have a midnight launch for this. They're having one for AC2, but why would you have one for a game that's coming out on a weeknight? This was coming out on a Saturday night.

Because it's not edgy enough.

Frankly yeah, the Mario crowd really isn't the type of crowd to go out and pick up the game at midnight when they can just get it sometime during the day.

They had midnight openings in certain stores for Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl, both feature Mario and his characters prominently.

I think hardcore gamers are more attracted to Super Smash Bros. Brawl than New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It's the kind of game you get at midnight and play all night at your dorm with your buddies. Same with Mario Kart Wii.

Sure New Super Mario Bros. Wii is multiplayer, but overall, it's still just a regular Mario game that most people will probably play by themselves.

I would've gotten this game if my wife would want to play it with me. I think I'll wait until my babies are old enough to play because this is a game that is probably better with more people playing.

Some reviews I've read have said it's better on your own since it can become chaotic with more than 1 person.

The main problem I've come across, is how you can jump on each other's heads. It makes levels like the vertical castles kind of difficult to maneuver.

Played some at Best Buy earlier today on my way to work. It IS the next Mario game. The true sequel to Super Mario World. Not 3D free roam, not Yoshi's Island, it is the next side scrolling sequel, that is how good it felt playing it.

I played a little, but I mean something on a home console. The handhelds just don't get me like that.

I played through about halfway through the second area.

Then my wife and I played for a while.

Single player is awesome, as is multi, just crazier.

It's like they took the best stuff from SMB3, World, and NSMB and melded them into one big awesome game. :D
