New Super Mario Bros.

I got it yesterday and already "beat" it. I still need to access those two extra levels find the paths to some of the other stages. Overall, I think it is an okay game about an 8 out of 10 on my scale. I think that the games biggest problem was that it played up too much on nostalgia.

Instead of trying to create the TRUE successor to Super Mario World, they put Mario 1, 3 and SMW in a blender and came up with this game. Of course those three games are the best 2D platformers ever, but the best part about the Mario games was that you got something distinctly different everytime with the same core game. The new power-ups are pretty forgettable, but the wall jump is probably the best addition to this game.

One of the main differences between this game and the older Mario games is that you can't go through the levels quite as fast as they put a few traps and surprises down the line so you have to slow down and scroll the screen to make sure everything is alright. This is largely true for the castles and dungeons which are some of my favorite levels.

You beat it already? See, I come up for air when I play games(:p)....more so when I know they're shorter. IGN already said though that if you run through it without getting the secrets, ect it could be beaten in a day.

Even when I do beat the game I'll be playing through it quite a bit. I need to get Sonic Rush and Super Princess Peach (yes, I said SPP) so I can keep going back and fourth between the games. I refuse to allow myself to beat this game before I get my Lite.

I agree with you on the castles though, they're my favorit parts of the levels.

I never rushed through any level in any Mario game. I prefer to take in the scenery.

Yup, like I said last night all I did was play through World 1 several times before going to World 2.

Oh, and you can be Luigi as well...

At the "select a file" screen, keep pressed L and R buttons and choose one of your saved game files with the A button. Now you'll play in the game as Luigi instead of Mario.

got this game today, about to go get into it and play. one thing i noticed... was a guide really needed for this game, i mean come on.........its super mario. granted most people dont get guides, but if you need a guide for this game... stop gaming.

Playing all the way through doesn't work for me. I play maybe a couple worlds, then chill and go back the next day. Did that with mario 3, again with world, and I shall with New. I don't have free time like that seeing as how I have to be up at 6 and dont' get home till 7 the following night.

How do you get to World 4 and 7? I have the guide (I know:() and it doesn't say specifically.

I think to get to world 4 you have to beat the Mummy Pokie as Mini Mario.

yeah, you have to do it at mini mario then when you beat him, youll see a lower hallway to go threw as mini mario...

I saw someone playing it while we were waiting for X-Men III to play, and i gotta say that it looked GREAT! I was watching that cat play right up until the theater started to play the trailers. I'd probably get a DS Lite and the game just for my wife, who's a HUGE Mario fan- and watch her play it.

Sonic Rush will keep you busy for a long time. The game is amazing and really challenging.

This game is the most fun i've had playing a game in a long time. It's funny how something so simple can be so badass. I don't even like handheld systems but this is going to force me to get a DS Lite.

yeah, games like metroid prime hunters and sonic rush are fun, but i also got tired of them after a while, i have yet to get tired of this game , and its gettin my friends hooked on it and they are buyin a ds lite and this game on the first day. nintendo hit gold with a no brainer game.......again.

How the **** do you do the triple jump? I borrowed the game from my brother and i don't have the manual.. I know its probably so obvious but i cant figure it out. :o

All you do is hold on to the run button... get a good run going for a few seconds, then press jump once, then again, and a final time. Wait till each jump is over to press jump again.

My brother was the same way. Everytime he bought a hand held he just couldn't get into it. I talked him into getting a Lite (he bought a regular version, but plans on selling his for the Lite) and now he tells me he can't put it down.

Another successful conversion.

NSMB and SPP are kickass games so everyone should get them... One Question though WTF does Mario says when he beats a stage? I know Luigi says "Yay for me! LUIGI!" but I can't understand Mario...

I THINK he says "That's-a So Niiice-a!" I really, really need SPP.

Hold the Run/Grab button (X,Y, or B depending on your setup). Jump, as soon as you land, jump again, when you land from that, jump again. It's tricky to do in some levels.

im thinking about getting the ds lite and this game on thursday.

do they have a game with all the original mario games?

If you don't have this or a DS, definately get this and the Lite.

There is no 1 game with the first 3 Super Mario Bros. I'd suggested getting a ROM for SMB Deluxe (GBC port) and then buying Super Mario Advance (SMB2) and Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3).
