New Superman Retuns: TMG interview.

You're a friend to the end, but I just can't stand still while intelligent human beings actually say X-men 3 is better than Superman Returns. Bandwagon or not, it's just not true. :ninja:

:meow: :dew:  :ninja: :super: :wow:

I really liked X-Men 3 because it was fun.
I really couldn't care less that "IT ANALLY RAPED THE CHARACTERS, I F***ING HATE IT, DIEEE RATNER!"...it was a fun movie. Just having Kelsey Grammer as Beast makes it even better.

I loved Superman Returns because it was a great movie, it had few action sequences, but they were amazing, and the acting and story were just great.
The music was beautiful. The movie made me cry a bit, and I felt goosebumps during the Airplance rescue sequence. Call it nostalgia, I don't care. It was freaking great.

Yes Kelsey Grammer made X3 worth watching.
I don't think he brought anything to the role, and his makeup was so depressing.

I hated Beast from the first pic of him that was released :(

i felt the same about juggernaut and i was constantly being reasured that in motion he would look fine...they were very wrong

vinnie jones =

See, I didnt mind Juggs so much... Not that good but I didnt hate him (apart from the 'Im the Juggernaut *****!' Line... Seriously, Thas worse than Storms 'Lightning' speech in X1)

given the origins of that line, i felt compelled to congratulate ratner for the balls to include it so i was pretty kl with the line.

I forgot Juggernaut! :(

Why did you make me remember that crap? :(

"I'm the Juggernaut, b!7ch!" = very ******ed.

I love Rattner included that line. It was a nod to the truly hardcore x men fans, and it shows that he's actually a fan and not just some guy doing it for the pay check.

It was a stupid reference to a dumb online fad:o

If singer had done it I KNOW you'd be like 'OMG SINGER ROXXORZ, TIS TEH COOL!!!!!!!!!!!' :o

But yeah, anyway to be honest I haven't seen superman yet and dont plan to for a while for the following reasons:

(a) superman is boring as a character
(b) the trailer looks like boring, generic trash
(c)''truth, justice...and all that stuff''? talk about being ultra pc :o
(d) everyone I know in real life said it ranges from ok to trash
(e) I heard he stands on a rock made of kryptonite for ten minutes and doesnt die (sadly)
(f) spacey looked TERRIBLE in the trailers
(g) luthor mandhandling supes in the trailer made me lmfao but not in the good way

I'll see it eventually Im sure. but its nowhere near on my to do list in the near future.

Superman Returns was a great movie. It had everything i agree, Routh did a great job as well. He is Superman. :super:

(a) Superman is boring as a character if you don't pay attention to the movie, because he's saving airplanes, boats, getting shot in the face, and dealing with a bratty Lois Lane and her fiance, who he surprisingly doesn't kill.
(b) The Trailer wasn't too good, or at least not as iconic as the Teaser. They never should have had the out of place "wrong" which made it look like a comical scene.
(c)The movie is politically correct in some areas, and in others it's a full-on Jesus Christ reference.
(d) You know a lot of dumbasses. My friends, well, all but two loved it.
(e) No, he stands on a rock with bits of pieces of Kryptonite dendriting it's way through. This movie handles Kryptonite in a different way than you're used to.
(f) Spacey is B+ in the movie.
(g) It's a good scene in the movie.

I agree WHF the teaser was much better than the trailer.
The teaser gave me the feeling that Superman Returns was about to be the greatest movie ever made, but it turned out being a great movie that didn't quite give Superman the rich majesty that the teaser generated.

I think that Superman is going to someday need a story that really does view him as the unstoppable savior of DC's earth, instead of always having this Lois Lane/Clark Kent stuff going on, and writers holding back on spectacular scenes of power.

In the teaser, every shot was beautiful, and the Brando voice-over was biblical and powerful.

The movie didn't quite seem to reach that. Superman often seemed weak. While Superman is indeed the nicest man alive, and the perfect role model, we see that his absense has left his world falling apart in ways he can't/won't fix, even by the end of the movie. Lois is still with Richard, and Jason is still a... lacking child. It had a very wierd way of making Superman seem weak, despite the amazing action scenes, he just seemed weak in this movie.

Still a great movie, I'm hoping to see it again tomorrow.

Its not Supermans line in the film, thats why the 'American way' part didnt need to be in it. Its perry talking to the Daily planet staff, not Superman saying what he stands for.

WHF I like you man, but since you said BB is the best superhero movie ever.... :(

I think my friends were probably spot on. Everything I've seen about SR makes it look like the worst ''mainstream'' movie I have seen in a while...everything about it looks pretty poor.

See, X Men had several scenes with heart....like Wolverine and Jean's final moments together. And in Spiderman 2, the scene where the passengers on the train he saves vows to keep spidey's secret. That, for me, is why marvel in general is so wonderful, and so much better than dc. DC are pretty much cookie cutter heroes....Burton beat that with Batman, but thats because he took it in his own direction and didnt try to copy tthe comics too much. DC movies lack the passion and heart (with the odd exception) of the best marvel movies.

Marvel may have done some terribly ****ty movies (daredevil, man thing and punisher) but when they get it right, it's simply sublime. The best DC has managed to do in the last decade was Batman Begins, which to me was simply watchable, yet nothing special.

Just my opinion, but thats why I dont think DC will ever surpass marvel. They just dont have the heart and character.

I suggest you actually see Superman Returns before you start saying it's a heartless film.

knowone could ever complain that superman returns didn't have heart, it was bursting from the seams with it, to me however, i think that the sheer amount of heart is what ruined the movie for me, making me forget we were essentially watching a superhero movie and not a romance starring jesus.

You're probably right, I am being a little unfair.

But at the same time, you never get any sense of serious danger with characters like Batman and Superman....they are made out to be unbeatable and indestructable. In X3, Jean died, Cyke died, and big characters got depowered. It surprised me, it was unexpected, and made me feel like nobody was safe....even wolverine (partly because the wolverine film would be a prequel and because everyone said this would be the last movie in the series as we know it). in spidey, even though I know he wasnt gonna die, there was doubt....I dont know.

I will give SR a chance eventually, out of fairness. But it better be decent :(
