“QUEST FOR MAGIK" Part 1 (of 4)!
The demon lord Belasco has pulled the Xavier Institute into Limbo, but he's not after the X-Men... he's come for the New X-Men. With their leaders cut off, most of the team captured, and a group of students thrown into the demon infested wastelands, all hope seems lost. But the kids aren't alone in Limbo... and things are about to get much, much worse.
32 PGS./Rated T+ …$2.99

Yeah, I'm not exactly groovin' on that cover either. Not that it matters, I've officially dropped this book with this issue. Magik never interested me in the least....

I love the cover! But what about theart we saw earlier? Promo? Cover foranother issue?

Im not feeling the cover either. The art isnt bad; its just too busy. Hopefully the inside is better

So, you object to stories where anything is killed? Even random background characters, not even people of Mammomax level notability; nameless patrons of a coffee shop? This is an action book; people get killed. Random bystanders die all the time in comics.

Also, Nimrod didn't kill Alternate Storm; he threatened to

He did kill Storm, he threatened to kill Storm and Forge's daughters.

Grab all previous issues of New X-Men (without counting HOM) and show me how many deaths were there and which ones were treated lightly like this writers do.

Different type of book, for one thing; boarding school drama compared to action book. Second, I would hardly say the deaths have been treated lightly; heck, they devoted a whole issue to a huge memorial service. Surge's rallying speech in #29 was all about how they've been ground down by their enemies, lost friends, and now it's time to strike back.

Anyway, another good issue this week. I'm really interested to see how this Julian/Laura thing works out, because, contrary to how things usually go, he seems to get more and more appalled at her actions the more time they spend together (although they work quite well as a team).

Im not interested in X-23 having a boyfriend. She already is written as way too soft and that willsoften her up even more. As for Julian, I preferred him with Sofia and wish she'd at least be mentioned

Murcury looks hella cool on that cover. I like the art and it looks like it could suit the kind of story they're going to tell.

wait, whaaat? i haven't read for awhile, but ... what!!!!! julian and laura are an ITEM now?!

Yeah....but this series rocks. Kinda feeling bad for Mercury....that would really stink.....

The Julian / Laura thing really works.
Another great line from Santos......

I dont like Mercury but I felt bad for her as well. I hated when the guy said he was going to get that
creature to eat her

Overall great issue. I much preferred it over AXM. I loved X-23 and Julian's adventure. Love that they are getting some good panel time. I only wish Josh were given more to do. He's been downgraded to one of the background kids like Pixie and Onyx.

Oh probably best moment in the book was
Kitty calling the New X-men X-babies. LOL....it was reminscent of her saying the same thing to the original New Mutants

I haven't read the lastest issue of this (or any x-book) Will try today or sometime this week.

Interesting... this book is mysteriously holding my attention, even though I don't like what they did (and didn't do) to Prodigy... I felt he was a badly conceived and disastrously limited character from the beginning... but that's just me, I believe.

That said, I don't really like any of the remaining main characters... I like Keller as a sadistic badass playing superhero, but they've tried to nice-boy him up now, and I don't like it. I liked Mercury, but... well, she's kinda damseling up now...
