p.s. on a side-note...is anyone else sort of pumped for this new G.I.Joe?! I feel like this movie is going to be the movie we should have gotten in the first place although the previous seem to be showing a lot of Rock and Willis...and well now Tatum after they went back and re-shot scenes. I'm hoping that Cobra Commander is awesome in this one. For some reason I have gotten somewhat hype this past week for this film. Huh sorry just a random thought.

You're not the only one! :woot:

I don't expect the greatest thing ever made. All I want is the G.I. Joe source material and characters to be treated with respect, a decent storyline and a lot of great action. Basically, just a great, entertaining movie that doesn't insult my intelligence. If can get that at least, then I'll be more than happy.

I, too, am excited for this movie. Dwayne Johnson is a fav of mine. Snake Eyes is looking awesome. The stakes seem higher. I'd definitely check it out.

I'm excited to get a movie that really feels like a GI Joe movie. The last movie did not feel like that at all.

the movieeeeeee is amazzzzzzzzing
better than last one so far
i loved it :woot:
Bruce willis rules .. Snake eyes and Willis the best of the movie

I surprised when Duke die in first 10 min of the movie !!!!!!!!!!!:cmad:

i just saw it in egypt , 3 hour ago :D
i think Jon Chu did really awesome movie at last

Just got back from seeing it.

I really enjoyed it. The action was great, Snake Eyes is still the man, Cobra Commander looked badass.

As one who also liked the last movie, I didn't care for how certain characters were written out or just plain forgotten. There were a couple plot holes that distracted me for a moment, but I got over them. Overall, my biggest issue was that the movie felt really rushed, undercutting moments and revelations that should have felt much more epic. And there was one actor in particular that stuck out like a horribly painful sore thumb.

7/10

It was okay. Needed more Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow and Duke. Flint is pretty much a non-character, Mouse has more personality in his short time in the movie than him. Willis is in more Cop Out mode, than Looper.

The ending is pretty lame too, it's pretty much culminates to two guys fighting on a beach, but worst of all there is no emotional pay-off to it, like Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow from the first movie. It's like they thought, "I guess The Rock should fight someone."

Saw it. Regal had screenings at 7 tonight. It's a solid 6/10.

Snake Eyes and Roadblock were, without question, the best parts of the film. Johnson's got a lot of charisma and really sells it as an action hero, something I wouldn't have thought of a few years ago. The fight scene on the mountainside with Snake Eyes is the highpoint of the film. Everything else just sorta felt "eh" to me. The whole blind master subplot felt extremely forced, considering how grounded the rest of the film felt. I know it's a GI Joe movie, but some consistency would've been nice. Cobra Commander looked perfect, but he was barely in the film. A lot of the editing felt very, VERY choppy, which is I think what killed RZA's scenes, as well as the climax. MASSIVE SPOILER HERE.
Oh, and: the scene where London gets annihilated happens near the end, which mainly happens because THEY LET COBRA COMMANDER MONOLOGUE. They could've averted that happening had they just moved a little faster, which irked me to a great degree. Their objective is to save lives. They failed big-time.
I didn't hate it though. Like I said, the mountain side sequence was a show-stopper. It's really silly, but a lot of fun. The action's the only real saving grace. I'd recommend it.

Was it RZA because I thought he was horrendously terrible

I'm expecting G.I. Joe, as a fan of the books and cartoon, so that is pretty much what I will be getting is what you're saying.

RZA's scenes and dialogue are terrible. It's like he's trying to speak in a chop-socky movie, dubbed over voice. This isn't Kill Bill and you ain't Quentin Tarantino.

The movie is an improvement over the original. However there is still no depth or emotional weight. Flint has nothing to do. The end is extremely anti-climactic. Terrible tragedy is treated with the weight of a feather. The GI JOE IMHO ****ing failed big time and for no reason. What happened at the end was UNACCEPTABLE.

The first act is good and moves really well. The Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow scenes are well done. But it's just disappointing.

There's also a prologue in the movie that is actually really tacked on and serves no purpose to the plot. There are no consequences to what happened. Basically Flint doesn't listen to orders and he shows off and makes a pompous, arrogant move. Road Block looks upset. And then . . . nothing. Tension is hinted at but not really played. Flint's insubordination is never really addressed. The scene sort of ends before there can be a cool fight or anything really awesome happens.

Jon Chu was in over his head for this movie. He was too inexperienced and doesn't know how to handle characters, emotion, stakes, and consequences.

I guess, but it's all still really superficial for the most part.

How much screen time does Storm Shadow have? Does he talk much? I thought he was the best character in the first movie.

Comparable to the first one. He talks about as much he did in the first one. He speaks, but he's not exactly a chatty cathy. Mostly short, to the point. His writing is done better in this one though.

Destro is shown and mentioned in the film but he's "left behind."

Saw a screening last night and here's my thoughts on it:

Better than Rise of Cobra, still an overall mediocre movie. The Rock is awesome like always though!

I'm glad they at least addressed the Destro thing. That's about the only dangling subplot from the first movie they address though.

Good points in the review Spideyfan.

I actually enjoyed this movie. It wasn't great but it delivered on the action. The Rock is a beast. Lady J is HOT!...that red dress and Pryce playing angry birds while nukes are all up in the air was a classic villain moment.

Do they ever mention Springfield?

Well the RT fell quick haha. Its at 47%, not too far from the first now.
