Batman Begins Nice Coat

well . . . if that's the point, the 'nice coat' doesn't bug me . . .

the 'can you drive stick' marginally bugs me . . .

I really liked the 'weaponized hallucinogen' one though

the 'nice ride' one . . . I think I laughed in the theater, but now it's just terrible

No mine's cheap, smells like crap mixed with chinese food, and has holes in it.

I'm a serious minded calculating dark and mysteriously laconic guy on a mission to defend justice at all costs even if doing so in itself is against the law. In that case, some laws were meant to be broken. Also, my girlfriend, tazer-girl, is my sidekick. Now I'm off to fight crime. Come, tazer-girl.

By the way... nice pants.

whooosh! I'm gone

I think anyone who finds these so-called oneliners annoying are perhaps being bit too "sensitive". Out of all the bat-movies, the "oneliners" in Begins are the least obnoxious. I can't believe you folks are still talking about something this minor.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

People are maybe alittle too sensitive to it, as if it is degrading the character. The line was rather harm-less. I mean, he's just a bum chillin. Everyone loves bums. :)

I just hope they don't use the word fear as much in the next one . . .

It'd be so awesome if the title to part 2 was something like...
Batman: Fearing the Fear, and maybe he changes his name to Fearman.

Just throwing out ideas. :)

I agree. You want some good lines to rip on, look at Batman Forever:
1.) "Chicks dig the car."
2.) "Boiling acid!!!!!!"

there are a plethora of other quotes like this in that God-awful movie. I havent seen it in some time, so other than the ones posted, I cannot think of quotes off the top of my head.
The point? Batman Begins' corny lines (if it can be called such) are much better than any other Bat-film.

Not at all. They're just as bad.

The good thing is BB is a good movie in spite of it, but the one-liners are awful.

Isn't "can you drive a stick" a legitimate question?

Don't get me wrong, I know it was meant to be humorous, but assuming the Tumbler isn't an automatic, seems like a reasonable question for Batman to ask Gordon before giving him the keys.

The "nice coat" reference I don't mind so much because it shows Batman isn't SO grim...he can still show a little playfulness, yet not in a campy way.

I have to admit the "excuse me" line seemed a little out of place but I honestly wasn't bothered by it.

Other than that, the "one-liners" don't really feel like that to me. Most of them are pretty logical in the scene. I'd say Alfred has some humorous lines, but they feel just right. And Fox's line, "didn't you get the memo" was a real crowd-pleaser.

I dunno, I'd take "Nice coat" to "Holy metal floor, Batman!" any day.

It's still a summer movie, and still meant to have fun. A little humor here in there THAT is funny, and quite a few of those lines got laughs... were much needed, and help derive a better overall movie going experience. You get action, drama, and even a touch of comedy. I remember the audience being quite amused with most of the lines:

"I wanna borrow it...for spelunking."
"Does it come in black?"
"I got to get me one of those"

Alot of Alfred's lines..

"Tell them that joke you know"
"Excuse Me."
etc.

I'd take any of the BEGINS quotes, within their context then:
"Eat floor, high fiber."
"Holy rusted metal, Batman."
"Any and every line from Batman and Robin."

And I'd take sour milk to poison and that doesn't make it any good.

Sour milk will make you sick. Poison will kill you.
But all analogies aside, Batman Begins quotes are superior to the films that came before it.

why all of a sudden is the tumbler a stick shift only vehicle? Why? because it's teh funny if batman says can you drive stick.

lol? it was forced comedy and not good forced comedy either.

If it was can you drive "A" stick the line would have been a little better actually, but it was the cliche line from a million movies I've seen before, now stuck into this movie and played the exact way it's been played out a million times before to get a chuckle from somebody and I wasn't impressed. How inventive.

Exactly, just like how you can just feel a line is right and worked well with the scene because of the emotional build up behind it you can also feel when something didn't work. That guy being such a dick to fox all that time and fox getting his payback was all right. I can't imagine the movie without that one unlike some of the others that are just too obviously there as typical "movie oneliners" and take me out of the "realism" that nolan tried to accomplish and did for the most part until things got a little wacky and weird.

It's still a summer movie and it's meant to be fun, but that doesn't mean it needs to use tired cliches or be nonsensical to accomplish that. How many times did we here obiwan say "I don't think so" in response to a villian saying he'll be the victor or some crap. That's so lame. Am I supposed to like that just because it's a fun summer movie? No, I want better. I'm paying for this stuff.

And about them being better. No. Not better, less. The ones there are and that I think didn't work should stay out of the sequel. Not even burton's batman would say can you drive stick. Batman making a joke like that in that moment was just stupid and I hated it. The context was all wrong for that line. who agrees with me?

lol@ people getting pissed off at Bruce cracking jokes in the heat of the battle

lighten the **** up people

I wish these peopele wood luda. Every day it's look at how bad mr. freeze lines are. omg teh cheese.

And I personally loved ahnuld's mr. freeze so I don't get it.

And batman had more jokes than spider-man. i point this out because it pisses me off something fearce.

sorry but it's how I feel. I wish I could feel different.

:( *plays simple plan*
