At press conference on Thursday, says net
Speculation around the supposed new Nintendo DS is already ablaze across cyberspace, but now there's another claim on what Nintendo's going to unveil this week; a new game that "everybody is waiting for".

That's according to French site Gamekyo, who says that the platform holder is set to unveil an old franchise reborn.

"We can announce today that Nintendo will reveal a new game for the Wii during this event which is actually an old franchise that everyone is waiting for," the report says.

We contacted Nintendo UK on the report and expectedly, "rumour and speculation" equalled "no comment".

We already know Nintendo is due to properly unveil a third game in Miyamoto's Pikmin game - and Kid Icarus has been heavily rumoured for a comeback - but other than speculation we've no idea what this could be. If it's actually showing anything.

Nintendo's press conference will be held in Japan on October 2. Stay tuned.

If this does end up being true, I'd say that it's most likely Kid Icarus, since Pikmin isn't an old franchise. If the article is wrong about it being an old franchise it could also be the next Zelda game.

i bet it's kid icarus...better be amazing :)

With the bomb that was Nintendo's E3, I'm sure they have some great stuff planned to make up for it.

At least I hope so, after they even admitted it was a bad event.

My guess is the long rumored Kid Icarus or Punchout.

Duck Hunter ftw. :hehe:

It's Duck HUNT.

And it BETTER be Kid Icarus Wii. If it's not... ...I have no real threat here...it--it just better be KI. :csad:

Duck Hunt would be cool!

What the hell can this be?

Hardcore Wii games announced

Sin and Punishment 2, Punch Out and Another Code
As expected, Nintendo has announced three new Wii games that'll have you hardcore gamers teeming with excitement.

Top of the list, we reckon, is Sin and Punishment 2 - a sequel to the incredible Treasure-developed, Star Fox-style shooter on N64, which was recently released in UK for the first time via the Virtual Console.

Punch Out was also confirmed - the first sequel of Nintendo's classic boxing series since the Super NES game. And last but not least, Another Code - a brilliant investigative story adventure on DS - will get a Wii sequel too.

Expect more info and screens for all three soon.

None of those interest me at all. Seriously, Nintendo should just change there name to "Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon" and just make games that involve those three franchises. They're the only things they have that anyone really gives a crap about at this point.

So as of earlier in the year, people griped that they went casual...and now you guys are griping because of the hardcore games? Dear lord people.

Sin & Punishment 2! The first game has one of the largest cult followings ever. This is fantastic news. Oh, and Punchout? How can you complain about them doing a sequel to a franchise as great as Punchout?

These two announcements, along with their storage solution and the new DSi made up for E3 completely.

Sin & Punishment 2 came out of bloody nowhere! Good, but I'd still rather have a new KI. What the **** is wrong with Nintendo?! It's not rocket science!

Kid Icarus has been practically confirmed by Nintendo for about a year. Remember they don't reveal games officially until they are sure it will be released soon. My guess is E3 next year, probably.

If they are taking the care in KI in the same way they do for their Zelda franchise, then it's probably at least another year or so off.

Glad about the Punch Out announcement, hopefully they'll release Super Punch Out on the virtual console soon. However, I would have prefered the announcement was for a new Kid Icarus or Pikmin, there's been so many rumors about these two games I just want confirmation they're on the way.

Pikmin 3 was confirmed at E3. Miyamoto said he'd do it.

Rare is in charge of KI, it was their decision to not make a new one.

He was referring to Kid Icarus...not Killer Instinct.

And if the rumors are to be believed, Factor 5 will be the developers.

Stupid abbreviations.

heh....I agree.

It's because noone is motivated to actually spell out what they are saying on the internetz.

It has created a whole generation of lulzers, Roflers, and ttfners. Frankly internet speak makes my head hurt. :(

It'll probably be Kid Icarus, however I still fail to understand why some people are so sentimental about the game. I tried it a few times, but it was almost unplayably hard. It was okay, but I certainly wouldn't put it on the same pedistal as Mario, Zelda, Mega Man, Bionic Commando, or a half dozen other classic NES games that I loved. I think that people's desire to see this game return is mostly because it's one of Nintendo's only big selling 8-bit games that they never milked dry with sequels.

That could be, but the original game does have a rather big following. I used to love the game, but you are correct...it's almost controller breaking hard.

The big announcement was Punch-Out! How the **** can anyone not be excited for that?
