Nolan introduction on Absolute The Long Halloween

Yeah, I didn't buy Gilda's involvement either. Especially when she said she snuck out of the hospital while Harvey was sleeping. Are we supposed to believe not one single person saw her leave the hospital?? The wife of Gotham City's district attorney??

Not only that, but I'm pretty sure she was on that beeping machine (you know, the one that shows the pulse and such) and still fairly heavily injured.

Okay, so this broken...mousy girl was able to take the machine out of her (which would cause it to give that long screech like she's dead), stand up, sneak away from her sleeping husband, pass the wing where there's always a guard/receptionist, escape from the hospital, get the Holiday gear, go up to a penthouse where the Irish are dining, kill them all, leave the tools, go out of the building, back into the hospital, all without ANYONE noticing?

...

Yeah, it's safe to say that it a really big stretch. :o

You're right, I gave you too much credit. It went over your head when you posted it, I don't know why I expected you to notice when I pointed it out.

You should try not to be a smart ass all the time. I got it after the fact.

I read the comic, jackass, DC planted doubt on purpose because his identity was never supposed to be certain. Stop sucking the cock of the first possibility that comes along and open your eyes.

Now that I think about it I also gave YOU too much credit. Based on the statment above I now know why you couldn't make heads or tails of the Hush storylines.

What, because I hurt your feelings you think I can't understand Hush? Just because you have fragile emotions, it doesn't mean I'm incapable of understanding that Hush's certain identity was withheld for a reason.

LOL. You think you hurt my feelings? You are a bigger jackass than I thought. Way would I care about what some guy on a board says? I just think it's funny that you can get away with talking like that here. If anything I would think that it was I who hurt your feelings... by the way your talking to me that is.

You don't have the education, insight or common sense to carry on a conversation, let alone figure out something as simple as the Hush stoyline. That's the fact Jack and the way you rush to insult me proves it!

Anyone else feel that Batman came across as one of the worst detective's on the planet in TLH?

Because most people don't try to understand the story. They just look on the pictures and scream "True Classic!! OMG"

I was a bit let down on his detective skill, but it was early in his quest.

So you admit it looked great? I thought the strength of the art, and of the characterisation (they NAILED Dent) overcomes the occasional weaknesses in the plot. I agree, Bats ceratinly does not come across as the World's Greatest Detective in this tale.

It's Time Sale's best art by far. TLH isn't bad, but it's far from being a "masterpiece".

All the nonsense aside, and since I can't afford the damned book right now, I'm only interested in what Nolan had to say in the absolute version.

I dunno about that. The masterpiece that is SUPERMAN: FOR ALL SEASONS gives it a run for its money.

I wasn't that fond of Superman himself, in all honesty. A little bit too square-jawed, and beady little eyes. Rest of the art was fantastic, and loved the story.
I loved his Daredevil. That was great.

Well, there are a lot of possibilites. But no solution seems to fit for me without feeling too constructed.

Some things are just absurd in TLH, for example, when Bruce is arrested for... what? Because his father saved the Roman's life? Why doesn't Poison Ivy find out that Bruce Wayne is Batman when she controlled him for a long time? The villains are just thrown in without any sense. Why wasn't the Riddler killed? And why doesn't Batman do any real investigations? And so on... :wow:

Well most of those points I thought were quite clear, unless you skimmed the story.

Bruce is arrested UNDER suspiscion that he's connected to the Falcone Family. If you recall, under Ivy's power, Wayne finally allowed Carmine Falcone's money into the bank he owns, THEN when Dent and Gordon were suspicious of Wayne, Bruce was under the effects of the Fear Gas and RAN away from Gordon causing them to arrest him. In the end, he came out ok.

Poison Ivy from what I recall was working with Falcone wasn't she? Falcone and Ivy have NO idea that he was Batman, so there was no manipulation for her to find out more secrets. Her job was really only to get Wayne to give in to Falcone's demands for his money to go in Wayne's bank. Not to mention her own desires of Bruce Wayne.

I thought it was insanely obvious why Riddler wasn't killed. It was April Fool's day, hence the ONE holiday where the killer makes it seem like they'll kill someone only to let them live. Get it? April Fool's?

As for Batman not doing any real investigations . . . well I would imagine its because he was constantly gettind sidetracked what with getting arrested, under Ivy's influence, Catwoman always distracting him, etc etc.
