Nominations for the Stupidist Hero ever

I agree. Also w/ all the Hulk fans here I'm surprised no one has nominated Rulk

"Squirrel Girl is a bad character!" rang out This-Threadman's battle cry, as he leapt once more into battle

I don't understand.
You're nominating her as the 'stupidest super hero' (spelled 'stupidest' wrong btw) and then you show her owning Dr. Doom... implying that she may be pretty cool.

Contradicting yourself right away.
This is gonna be fun.
Ok,ok I spelled Stupidest wrong.
However she did own Doom that doesn't mean I think she's cool.
I am just stateing how stupid it is that she Owned Doom in the first place.

She's also awesome, but senses of humor aren't part of the modern comic fan it seems.

Yeah, dude, you did start of your "stupidest character" thread with one of Marvel's most popular characters right now (at least among long term comic buffs liking her, not in terms of sales).

I think Squirrel Girl could give the solo adventures of Parker's Agents of Atlas just as good of a showing. Hey...maybe that's what Parker needs to make sales go up: Squirrel Girl!!! I like that more than 3D man.

I was going to because I always hated him but I didn't mention it because I thought there would be backlash.I thought he was well liked.
I hate the Rick Jones blue character more than Rulk. (What's his name, A-Bomb?)
Bring back Blonsky!

Geez, she's a harmless joke character. :o
She wasn't harmless to Doom!

Not when it becomes Canon.

One of Marvel's most popular characters???Please tell me your Joking.
Weird and dumb.

Yes, because having a non-mainstream lifestyle, like transvestism, is stupid. Bigot. :o
I think his point was that it hardly makes for a Superhero.

Maybe what they need to do for Squirrel Girl is what they did for Wolverine/Batman for people to take her seriously....

I can give you a storyboard to follow, since I'm no artist.

First panel filled with shadows, in the center of which is a barely discernable figure with its back to the viewer.

In the narrative blocks reads:
*They think I'm a joke*

Second panel less shadows, a more defined female figure, filling in the panel slightly more, and starting to turn to the viewer.

*That I can't hold my own against the others*

Third panel shows more details of the figure, costume details are clearer, and a bushy tail can just be made out. Also starting to show the figure's face.

*They killed my partner, my best friend*

Fourth panel starts to show more of the figure's face, but its in too close, showing only the nose and triangle shaped eye liner intersecting her eyes.

*But I'll show them, I'll show them all!*

Fifth panel pulls the face shot back showing the young woman's face, with brown hair. Her look is one of intense concentration.

*I'll show them my unbridled power and the righteous fury*

Sixth panel, larger than the others, showing her full costume, tail sticking out to the side, Tippy-Toe on her shouder also with an intense look on her face as well.
The young woman's legs are in a fighting stance, one in front of the other. Her left arm is out from her body, finger open, palm to the rear, Her right hand is drawn up inder her chin, hand in a fist. Her expression is even more intense than in the previous panel.

*Of a squirrel unleashed!*

:awesome:

Nope.

Here's a thread on the subject over at CBR (there are people arguing for or against her legitimacy, but notice that there are a lot that are for her, and the discussion wouldn't even come up or go on this long if she wasn't popular): http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=268825

Here's a website dedicated to her getting her own movie: http://www.doreengreen.com/index2.html

She has her own TV Tropes article (which a character only gets to themselves if they're a classic or a fan favorite, really): http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SquirrelGirl

She has her own (oddly long for such an obscure character) wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squirrel_Girl

So Transvestites can't be super heroes? They can't snoop around and solve groovy mysteries? They're to "weird and dumb" for that? Bigot. :o

I can't tell if you're joking or not, but in case you're not: Madame Fatal isn't necessarily a transvestite. He wore the female disguise to avert suspicion and get his opponents to underestimate him, not as a lifestyle choice.

I know. I was kidding. I thought :o was the universal symbol for smug sarcasm around here.

Anyway, I still don't think that's a stupid character concept. Silly or weird doesn't mean bad or stupid.

Your delivery was so dry I wasn't sure. :oldrazz:

I admit, having read through Madame Fatal's page on Wikipedia, it was probably a good strategy for the time. Depending on which angle resulted in the most underestimation--the femininity or the old age--it could potentially be pretty sexist. But most people probably wouldn't be on their guard as much around an old person of either gender. It's a primordial instinct that's hardwired into us--old generally does equal weak in nature.

It's more cultural, I would think. Other, non western cultures, hold the elderly in the highest esteem and place them in the highest positions of power.

And culturally, it is doubly true for older women. We see an old woman, the first thing we thing of is grandmother. We think grandmother, we think smiles and kisses and freshly bakes cookies. It is a little sexist, but I don't think it's sexist to take advantage of culturally based assumptions.

Right, but if they had to throw down with an old woman, would they really be giving it their all like they would against a middle-aged man in pretty decent shape? That's all I was talking about. However the thugs Madame Fatal fights perceive him in his granny getup initially, they will inevitably wind up fighting him, and who really goes all-out to fight someone who could be their grandparent?

I don't disagree. I'm just saying that the attitude is more cultural than instinctual.

Depends on if they have issues or not. Remember what happened to Hollis Mason in The Watchmen.

That's okay I still think she is a stupid character and there have been plenty of movies based on stupid premises
before she won't be the first. However if there are some people who like her more power to them.

Your silly what I am saying is he shoudln't be a hero based soly on that premise.Unless of course he has magic Garder belts or Heels with Blades or somthing that he throws or somthing and then that's even more doumb.

My point is, it's more than just some. She has a pretty sizable fanbase. Maybe half the people around these parts are a part of that fanbase, myself included.

What's wrong with that premise? He dresses like an old lady so no one will suspect him when he's investigating crimes, or that he's the one doing it at all. That's a perfectly fine premise as long as the stories are well written. Besides, maybe he just likes wearing female disguises.

He's an actor and apparently tended to impersonate women for performances. So that's where the schtick comes from. It's some sort of context, at least, rather than some dude just randomly waking up one day and going, "Eureka! No one suspects an old lady!"

Ok I guess I can see it.It's actually a good premise for even a Tv show.
Hey by the way I love your new avatar where's it from?
