if it is indeed Zelda, maybe the lack of a more womanly figure is because this is a younger, preteen Zelda during the early parts of the game. then, later on, there's a time skip and we get to play as a young adult Zelda.

I mean......they've done that before with Link where you start out with child Link then play as adult Link.

It has kind of bugged me how the chick the franchise is named after was never playable.

^ which is why it would be a welcome change if she were the heroine and playable character in the new game.

I'm going to sound like a jerk.. In a way I don't care.. I don't want to play as Zelda. Ever. Period. That would bum me out if the first ES like Zelda game I don't get to play as Link. That being said I don't think this character is Zelda.. It looks like a young teenage boy to me.. Not a female.

lol. You guys are getting hard core trolled by Aonuma.

It's Link.

Agreed. I’m fine with spin off games having you play as Zelda. But for the main games, yes, Link should remain the playable character.

Yeah, if they gave us a spin off game where you got to play as Zelda when she would disguise herself as Sheik and what it.. I would be fine with that. I don't want the game to be different just to be different. I've never really seen Zelda as a damsel unable to help herself anyway.. So even if Link does save her she always seems to have a hand helping him.

Link should always be a teenage boy (I always figured Adult Link in OoT was 16-18) and the hero, Zelda should always be the princess and your support and Gannon should always be the big bad. Suddenly having Zelda as the hero wouldn't be a "revolution " it would seem cheap to me.

I would LOVE to play as Zelda as the main character.

With that being said, if the character is someone other than Link or Zelda, I'm not sure how I'd feel about that.

unless it's their kid, I suppose, but even that would feel weird.

It's just so traditional to play as the hero Link and rescue the Princess Zelda from the evil Gannon.

What's wrong with traditional? Things don't need changed for the sake of shock value. "Look kids, now you play as a GIRL! wooooooo! CHANGE!"

If they created a compelling storyline to suggest Zelda is Hyrule's hope this time around while Link is incapacitated, then I'd be OKish...

Nope. I'm cratchety and ain't changing. Link or bust for me. I still get hate for hating the heck out of Raiden in MGS2... I want main characters to stay main characters. I just feel like this would be like replacing Batman with Catwoman in one of the Arkham games. I've been called a "sexist shallow minded bigot" for saying that elsewhere.. Probably the main reason I only come to the Hype anymore. :p

also, maybe it's due to the lighting, but is that character blonde or brownhaired?

If someone wants to play as Zelda.. Fine. I'm gonna hope like heck it's not tho. If it is I doubt the story is that compelling.. It'll simply be Link is captured now or something.. Your turn to save him.

Meh.
