i meant that no fielder at any other position was worse than braun was at third. he had the worst fielding percentage of any 3B since 1910. yeah, stats don't tell the whole story, but in this case, they tell more than enough.

I assumed that something to that effect was the case, just too lazy to research it. Still, http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?entryID=3106779&name=Neyer_Rob&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fespn%2fblog%2fithere is a valid argument to be made for Tulowitiski as well.

Beckett deserved the AL CYA. I'm not counting post-season.

Not sure why there would be any bitterness over Beckett winning, Sabathia had one in most major categories. Not much of a suprise. Although I was hoping Beckett would win it. Sabathia sealed the deal because he was in a playoff battle and he went 3-0 vs Santana.

Yeah, and judging on playoff preformance is pretty irrelevent to regular season awards anyway.

Nevermind. I thought Sabathia only pitched around 210 innings.

Cubs trade Craig Monroe to twins for player to be named later. How about Tori Hunter?

Honestly anyone who thinks beckett actually got ripped off is way too biased for their own good. beckett literally had one more win. thats all he was better at.

and again, for anyone not paying attention, postseason stats do not factor into awards one way or another in any case.

They're not biased. You can make a case that Beckett deserved it more. He meant more to his team (Red Sox did not have a #2 who won 19 games), he played in a much more difficult park, and he had to pitch against the Yankees (who are tough to pitch to, Sabathia hasn't since 2002 I think).

A lot of you always say it's east coast bias. It's true, the players here get more exposure, but they are under the microscope on a daily basis. The east coast is not for the feint (sp?) of heart.

farmerfran lives in each and every one of us. :o

it looks like the yanks signed another foolish contract. they'll end up regretting it in two years when they're paying $13 for a 38 year old platoon catcher hitting .250 with 10 homers.

He won't be our starting catcher in two years. The idea for the extra years was for him to be a DH much like Bernie Williams was. When the Yanks have a night game then play again the next day at 1:00, he will be able to play those to give whoever our catcher is a rest. Also he would play doubleheaders. The contract should have been 3 Years for $30M though, but given his good season the only way he would sign was to get more money.
