Kurt Warner used to be my local grocery store's bagboy.

He won't be our starting catcher in two years. The idea for the extra years was for him to be a DH much like Bernie Williams was. When the Yanks have a night game then play again the next day at 1:00, he will be able to play those to give whoever our catcher is a rest. Also he would play doubleheaders. The contract should have been 3 Years for $30M though, but given his good season the only way he would sign was to get more money.

I hadn't thought about the DH possibility. That will probably extend his career, but he's probably never going to top this year's production.

Why did he never put two and two together and put a bag over his wife's head?

Blue Jays might persue Roger Clemens and/or Andy Pettite.

Good luck with that guys.

To you Yankee fans: What have you heard regarding the Yankees going after Santana?

I've been hearing the same thing for over two weeks now. We'd have to give up either Cabrera or Cano and a pitcher(probably Hughes or Kennedy) and another prospect. Trading Cabrera/Hughes/a prospect probably wouldn't cut it. So Cano would likely have to be the one to go. Cano would be a lot better player for them than Cabrera.

They're not biased. You can make a case that Beckett deserved it more. He meant more to his team (Red Sox did not have a #2 who won 19 games), he played in a much more difficult park, and he had to pitch against the Yankees (who are tough to pitch to, Sabathia hasn't since 2002 I think).

A lot of you always say it's east coast bias. It's true, the players here get more exposure, but they are under the microscope on a daily basis. The east coast is not for the feint (sp?) of heart.

you can make a case for beckett. however, it is biased to say that beckett got ripped off, because sabathia was just as deserving if not more so. he threw 40 more innings and still had fewer walks and a lower E.R.A. the only thing beckett had going for him was one additional win, which is one of the most overrated stats in sports. statistically, sabathia was the superior pitcher.

and we could go back and forth over who was more "valuable" to their team. thats all a matter of perspective, and it's not what the cy young is really about. hell, i can say lackey was more valuable to his team than either of them. its about the best pitcher, and in the regular season, that was sabathia.

Evidence? Pettitte makes some sense, Clemens should retire.

• Could Roger Clemens be returning to Toronto?

The future Hall of Famer has decided to start collecting some of the $3-million US he’s owed by the Houston Astros, who signed him to a personal-services agreement in 2004. That may mean he’s finally ready to retire, but it could also mean he’ll extend his pitching career for a smaller base salary.

And sources tell me the Blue Jays are seriously thinking of pursuing both Clemens and his pal, Andy Pettitte. (I wonder if they’ll offer Canadian money.)

Couple of Rumors

Possible Glavine destinations:Braves, Phils, Mets, Astros, Cardinals, and Nats.

Jason Bay possibly on the move to the Tribe, also possibly Raul Ibanez.

Mets are Interested in Torrealba

Also read that many believe Arod could return to the Yanks...if not it will come down to the Dodgers or Angels, with the loser pursuing Cabrera.

The Red Sox are opening up the regular season in Tokyo against the Athletics towards the end of March. I believe they are playing two games there, before finishing out the series in Oakland.

According to the New York Daily News, Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees "have been discussing a deal for the past few days to keep the two-time MVP in pinstripes."

The Yankees were seemingly very clear when they repeatedly said that Rodriguez wouldn't be playing for them again if he opted out of his contract, but the newspaper suggests that they may have changed their mind while stipulating that agent Scott Boras is kept out of negotiations. Rodriguez reportedly "approached the Yankees through a third-party intermediary," but will "have to have person-to-person talks with the Steinbrenner brothers ... before a deal can be sealed." Heres the story

They were talking about the A-Rod news all morning.

It's okay, stay in NY, and choke in the playoffs again.

Because Detroit's loading up once again
