Let's say Rays take it tomorrow night. Game 1 of the WS isn't until the 22nd. Ugh.

Yes, I'm *****ing about the schedule again.

What a series...things started clicking, hopefully it continues to the WS.

Sweet hell that's a while.

So much for all the LA/Boston hype.

I wonder how awful the ratings for this WS will be.

Who cares about ratings if the baseball is good? Plus the Phils are a big market team, and The Rays are the best story in baseball.

They still won't draw well since Philly is not the market that Boston or LA are. The Rays are only a good story if they win.

As long as it isn't a sweep.

The ratings may be low, but who cares if the games are entertaining?

I'm looking forward to seeing Hamels face Longoria, Pena, Upton ect. and likewise with Sheilds and Kazmir facing Howard, Utley, Rollins, Victorino ect.

Ok, but your acting like Philadelphia is Milwaukee. The difference is 3 spots between the Phillies and Dodgers in terms of baseball Markets, and 2 in terms of TV. It's not a big difference.

If Howard, Rollins, and Victorino can turn it around  I seriously think we have a shot. Those guys struggled this series, hopefully they break out.

I haven't posted in this thread since last post season....Haven't actually regularly posted on the boards much since then either. I just wanted to drop in and congratulate my Phillies. This has been a long time coming, I was 5 when I last got to watch my team in the fall classic and this time I already have bought tickets to Game Three and will be at the Bank to watch them *hopefully* take a three game lead against the American League rep...wishful thinking never hurt anyone.

As long as the pitching stays strong, we keep getting timely hitting, Moyer gets his act together, and we start getting production from Rollins and Howard we should have a legitimate shot in this thing.

I realize we are, again, the underdog- but we wouldn't be a team from Philadelphia if we weren't an underdog. We we against the Dodger (for some reason, we split in the season series, had a better record, more avg runs scored vs them, lower era vs them, more HR vs them, etc) and we made quick work of them. We just have one more team to prove wrong.

Still people will try and take this away from us Phillies fan's they'll say we SOMEHOW didn't deserve it, but let's just enjoy this for OURSELVES. We ARE the National League Champions, that can never be taken away. Let's win this damn thing and be completely vindicated and wash away the taste of 1993- I was five and remember it like yesterday--and there is only one remedy- a 2008 title.

Congrats Phils. The year's been great---But it's not done...give us four more wins.

People don't realize this- the Phillies KEY players didn't play well all post season and we are IN the World Series. Howard and Rollins are combined for about 4 hits in the NLCS. Howard has less than 5 RBI's in the postseason with 0 HRs. Even Victorino had a WEAK BA in the NLCS. We have lived on timely hitting. If we can get that, and also some production from our former MVP's we will have a good shot at this.

I can't believe they are already selling "From Cursed to First" shirts for the Phillies.

It's been 28 years? Sure that's a long time but they never had anything on Red Sox, White Sox or Cubs.

When every team in your city sucks, I guess it makes it seem longer.

Phily-TB...

Pretty damn bad.

Not sure I follow the logic? You've got literally 10 of the brightest young stars in baseball in that potential series. Anyhone who appreciates baseball would love the match-up. Not to mention a top 5 TV market is playing.

They still won't draw well since Philly is not the market that Boston or LA are.

People act like Boston is some kind of ratings boom for tne Networks because they're so deluded by the "ESPN hype" on that team. Philadelphia is 3 times the size of Boston

The Rays are only a good story if they win.

 They're already a great story. They've been a perennially terrible team for 10 years, who had the worst record in baseball in 2007, and are now in the World Series with a median age on team of 24! and a payroll of $44 million, the second lowest in all MLB. Just getting there for this team is huge, not to mention they'll have steam-rolled the defending big money World Champions on their way there. Winning the series would just be the cherry on top of the sundae.

Exactly. You've got so many great young stars and potential superstars if this series comes to be. General baseball fans and fantasy players will be drooling over themselves. These two teams exemplify the "right way" to win in MLB by building your team from within with home-grown talent. Not the Yankee/Red Sox way of buying it.

Dodgers wasted Manny's spectacular performance in the series, and Billingsley so far hasn't proved that he can pitch in the postseason like Hamels can. What a disappointing end to Dodgers' season, but the truth is they surpassed expectation and actually swept the team who is favored to win it all, the Cubs. However, without Manny they won't have won AL West and advanced to the 2nd round, and it'll be hard for them to sign Manny because Yanks, Mets, and even Phillies can offer more. It'll be an interesting offseason for the team.

Red Sox have New England and a greater national audience than the Phillies.
