ridiculous signing. how did this guy suddenly merit a three year deal with an option? man the phillies are gonna be regretting that one come june when his era is sitting upwords of 7...

He pitched very well with the Phillies (1.24 ERA) but had a horrible BB/9 (6.20). He seems to be a Houdini, he lets a lot of guys get on but usually gets out of it.

So, A couple of things happened.

1st and 3rd base coaches will wear helmets next year. maybe this is not a big deal to you but I have been hearing Vin Scully saying how much he wants this for years. Well Mr Scully, I guess it will happen in your life time.

Phillies signed a horrible deal.

Jeff Kent is coming back, maybe cause of A-rod? Rumors are that Alex was house shopping in SoCAL. hmmmmm

Russell Martin won a, GOLD GLOVE and a SILVER SLUGGER award. Go Russ!

haha what deal was that? Romero? He was clutch in the second half

yeah, i remember him when he was with the angels for a year and all of those walks actually scored. he was ridiculously horrible.

it'll catch up to him in philly too.

He's this year's version of Scott Schoeneweis. He sucked with his first team. He pitched great with his second team and got a big 3 year deal out of it. He's not going to have the same success he had in the few months he spent in Philly.

I don't think re-signing him was awful. But 3 years and an option for a 4th? That's insane. I'm not surprised since Gilick gave Burrell a ridiculous contract after he had one good year.

I know a guy who has some connections with the Mets and he said the Mets might trade Carlos Gomez to the Twins for Matt Garza. It'll happen, or at least be in the papers, this week.

I've now been hearing the Twins would want Robinson Cano and possibly another pitcher for Johan Santana. The package we would have offered them was Cabrera, Hughes and another prospect. They have said that wouldn't cut it.

I think the Twins feel good about their pitching, they would just want a better position player than Cabrera.

Mariano Rivera should stay in New York. I don't think there have been any teams to surface.

Posada should stay in New York as well, but three teams have come up as possible contenders. Mets, Blue Jays and Marlins.

Twins don't want any pitching prospects since they already have a lot. They want most position player prospects, preferably ones that are major league ready.

Where does Lo Duca stand as far as signing back with the Mets? Would you care for Posada?

With Lo Duca, I heard it was possible, then they were close to a deal, and then they were far apart. I doubt he'll be back. I wouldn't want Posada. He's too old, he's not going to have the same year with the bat, and he'd cost too much money and years. My choice is Bengie Molina (who can be had since he'd be a salary dump) or Ramon Hernandez (He worked with Rick Peterson, Mets' pitching coach, in Oakland. However I hear he has some type of agreement that he wont be traded to a NY team).

That was Ed Wade...famous for his no trade clauses.

I always feel uneasy about long term contracts to relievers. But if he was clutch then I good luck to you.
He pitched well for us in the second half, the years aren't great but at least we have a Arm the staff is comfortable going to late int he game. We still need at least two more arms and have to sign Rowand

Damon-Crede trade on hold for now

After the GM meetings in Orlando, Joe Crede is still a member of the Chicago White Sox. Johnny Damon remained a New York Yankee. It may not stay that way for long.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported it's not if Crede will be traded, but when. The White Sox need a leadoff hitter and Damon fit the bill, although news out of New York is that Damon is satisfied with his situation with the Yankees.

The trade is on hold because the Yankees would like to get a third baseman without trading Damon. Meanwhile, Sox GM Kenny Williams said Josh Fields is no longer a consideration in left field increasing the probability

My mistake. Gillick gave Eaton that horrible deal last year.

Rowand will end up walking. A lot of teams need a CF.

It sucks losing Rowand but I don't think he's worth what hes commanding....sucks but oh well...Just read they may be lookign for a 4th or 5th OF:csad: ...Read something about Haren to the Mets...Milledge and Heilman were mentioned.

In my dreams the White Sox would sign both Rowand who would play left or right field, and Torri Hunter for center field.

The Rangers are trying hard to get Hunter. He has a home near the Ballpark in Arlington. What ever team he goes too Rowand may go the opposite.

It really shouldn't be a problem signing Rowand, he is to White Sox fans what Kevin Millar is to Red Sox fans, except Rowand is a better player. He almost started crying during the World Series ring ceremony after he had been traded. I'm sure he would prefer Chicago over Texas. Hunter is the player the Sox should really strive for.

It's going to be serious competition from both Texas and Chicago for Hunter.

Other rumored free agents for the White Sox are David Eckstien and Shannon Stewart.

The A's-Mets rumors were an annual thing. Beane tries to fleece a team in trades that few ever try dealing with him. The Mets' said the price for Blanton was too much when they asked about him. I doubt it would be any different with Dan Haren. Would be good though. But it seems next year will be the year they finally land an ace. Santana, Peavy, and Lackey are all FA's. Santana and Peavy will definitely walk.

Eckstein I would take over Uribe any day. Shannon Stewart...not so much excitement.

I'd like to see Santana Peavy walk....I don't reall get to see them pitch much because of there current location...even if it is a division rival.

I would like to see Peavy as a member of the Braves
