When every team in your city sucks, I guess it makes it seem longer.

Considering every team in town made the playoffs last year with the exception of the Eagles(who went to the Superbowl not to long ago, as well as 4 straight NFC Championships) I guess your right.:whatever:

No team in town sucks

Philly and Tampa have some major sports history within this decade.

2002 NFC Championship, 2004 NHL Eastern Conference Finals.

This time.....it's personal.

I still haven't forgotten about the NFC Championship game.:cmad: We Could've won the Superbowl that year.

As a huge Bucs fan, that game wound up meaning more to me than the actual Super Bowl. Philly had owned Tampa in a very New England/Indianapolis manner. The difference being, it wasn't even that close between the two teams in the years prior.

To this day, I know a lot of Philadelphia sports fans who consider that to be the most significant letdown in the town's history. But the Phillies have a chance to wash away some of that pain with this series.

I still don't understand those T-Shirts.

Curse of what? Mike Schmidt's mustache?

They had all the crazy stats going into the game, that stupid thing about the Bucs not being able to win if the temp under 40 (something like that). I was at the game, and Rhode Barber getting that pick, plus Jurevicous(spl) running down the sidelines for TD's will be burned in my mind forever. :(
I do agree, The Phillies can change it all....if they were to win, it would be the biggest parade ever quite possibly.

25 years since the 76ers. So include the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers and them. It's been 100 seasons.

While it sucks not winning a championship, at least are teams are competitive.

By that logic the Phillies have Southern New Jersey (which is more populated by itself than most states in New England), Delaware, Northeast PA, etc.

That area is a lot more diverse in terms of fan base because of its proximity to New York.

I still don't understand those T-Shirts.

The William Penn statue is supposed to be the tallest point in Philly. They built some taller buildings and since then no Philly team has won a championship. It's as dumb as the Billy Goat curse.

Sounds like it. :cmad:

I really have no respect for fans that believe some "curse" prevents their team from winning a championship

I'm not arguing to the contrary I mean the Eagles were in a Superbowl like what 2005?

I'm just not understanding the curse to first rationale.

No one believes that stupid curse. It's just a way for stores like Modell's and such to make money. I bet a good portion of the fans have no clue what it actually is.

Chicago and Boston fans actually believed they were cursed by goats and The Babe.

:( *hugs Donnie*

Thanks...I was at that game, as well as Carolina and Atlanta. The party went on for a while after that game (Atlanta).

Not arguing either...yeah against The Pats.

Like I said above, the whole curse thing isn't real. The shirts popped up during the Superbowl run as well.

If they did believe it, they would have just moved the statue to the tallest building.

South Jersey is one giant suburb of Philadelphia, all Phila TV affiliates ,etc. Northern NJ tends to house NY fans because theyre in their TV market. I'd argue NY has a greater influence in terms of fans in New England like in states like upstate NY, CT, and parts of VT since some of those areas get NY TV.

I'm actually sitting in one of those buildings now looking down on Bill Penn's Quaker Oats-looking ass...

Indeed, I would say anything below Ocean County and Mercer County down is all about Philly.

We get all the NY network affiliates along with our own....farther north in CT tends to gravitate towards the Pats, Red Sox, and Bruins, but you have to go past Hartford for that...

When I was in the Storrs to Manchester area frequently I could make the choice.

Red Sox
1. Coco Crisp, CF (.300, .400, .400)
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B (.560, .621, .840)
3. David Ortiz, DH (.205, .295, .385)
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B (.200, .310, .286)
5. Jason Bay, LF (.333, .455, .778)
6. J.D. Drew, RF (.143, .250, .429)
7. Jed Lowrie, SS (.000, .000, .000)
8. Jason Varitek, C (.214, .410, .357)
9. Mark Kotsay, 1B (.167, .167, .167)

Rays starting it off leading 2-0 with no outs in the 1st. It's like I am living in a torturous sequel to Groundhog Day.
