Comics Official (adjectiveless) X-MEN Discussion Thread

Forget about Twilight and watch True Blood. Vampires the way they're supposed to be. Badass.
Or read a nice Anita Blake book. It's nice when the vamps actually do bad things. Not like vanilla ole Twilight. :p

THE HEROIC AGE IS HERE!
“MUTANTS VERSUS VAMPIRES,” PART 1

When a suicide bomber strikes in downtown San Francisco, it gets the immediate attention of the X-Men. But this is not your garden variety terrorist – and he’s not acting alone. Vampires from around the globe are descending en masse on the City by the Bay, staking a brutal claim for the patch of land the X-Men call their home. What is their agenda? Who is their mysterious leader? The X-Men are about to find out, as they brace themselves for a war of the species that will wrack the Marvel Universe.

I think I've finally gained the ability to read Pixie's dialogue in the voice of Eve Myles from Torchwood.

You know that could work lol. I seriously forget that she's Whelsh she never uses words that would make you think she's from another country other than the US.

Matt Fraction sometimes gives her some chav-y dialogue, like when she greets people by saying "All right?" I think that might be more English youth than Welsh, but I don't know what Welsh teenagers sound like.

From the one Welsh teen I've seen on television, they sound odd.

What Welsh person doesn't?

This looks pretty good. Vampires and the X-Men.....well I guess it would have to happen eventually. I know Storm and Dracula rocked out back in the day.....but its been awhile.

I just have one question (well, sorta two) - does anyone know if Iceman is going to be on any 'teams' and get decent face time, and will we have any character focus or development beyond Scott, Emma, and Pixie?

I've been asking those same questions since 2008.

It's a shame they have pushed Bobby aside. He played such a huge role last time they fought Bastion. Good times.

I read Death of Dracula which nodded to the cancelled Blade series and their Dracula arc but it appears the MI13 arc is missing although I didn't read the book I know they had Dracula up to something.

Yeah, Dracula and an army of vampires based themselves on the Moon and launched an all-out invasion of the United Kingdom.

Ol' Drac got his ash handed to him.

no Jean in ANY of the post second coming solicits

i like how X-23s keeping her X-Force look. added a little color and its reminiscent of Logan's.

I'm kinda done with Namor being on the team. I've never quite understood his mutant status for one thing. Has is ever been established that he actually has the x-gene? Is mutancy in the MU strictly considered possession of the x-gene, or simply possessing a mutation of the more random variety?
Because far as I've read, though he might be different from other Atlanteans (who in themselves aren't mutant humans, but an offshoot of homo sapiens; homo mermanus, and thus of similarity to modern day humans only so much as cro magnon man or homo hablis), this is not because his two Atlantean parent's produced a Homo Mermanus baby that possessed the x-gene as a result of the tampering done by the Celestials on early humans possibly at a point before they evolved separately into homo mermanus. It's because his human father slept with his atlantean mother. If anything, he would be an example of the crossbreeding hypothesised between Cro Magnons and Neanderthals that eventually led to more specialised and unique sub species. Although I suppose his instant difference as opposed to gradual changes from further crossbreeding is more mutant like.

i thought the wings on his feet giving him the ability to fly was his mutation

Homo superior within the Marvel Universe is defined as a character who possesses the X-gene. Thats all it takes. Namor has been retconned to have it, therefore he is what is considered a mutant within the X-world

Yeah i really dont understand why knowbody wants to write Iceman, he has so much potential. If i was a writer and i was given the job of a X-Book and the boss said who do you want to write about, Iceman would be top of my list...

Me too. I'd also pick Archangel, Psylocke and Nightcrawler. If i had those 4, I'd be happy.

Come to think of it. I always thought that Psylocke would fit in perfectly with the team Joe Casey had.

Even power-wise he has one of the most unique. We've got all kinds of telporters both short and long range, varying degrees of telepaths and fighters, energy projection up the wazzoo. But virtually no one has ice based abilities. And as you say, the potential for those powers...

They really should mature the guy a little bit just so he becomes more appealing to write. Sticking with his only defining characteristic being class clown just doesn't give writers many places to go with him.

Maybe with the latest crisis over they can go back to squads a little. Whats the point in getting every mutant to gather on Eutopia if there is going to be virtually no organisation. I think its clearly been established that if Scott is going to be a semi-general, then there needs to be protective/reactive teams already in place.

Archangel, Iceman, Psylocke, Gambit, and Rogue would make a good team. Good power mix, good personality mix, and good relationship/friendship/past mix.

Then by all means stick with Scott, Emma, Logan, Colossus, X-23 for a sort of senior team that pops up in virtually every book. But make the books more team based. Throw Pixie and Dazzler in there every now and then.

X-Force, though out in the open now can still function as a stealth team - just not one that's so brutal. More like Steve's Secret Avengers. Warpath, Domino, Cypher, Hepzibah, Logan.

Keep the New Mutants under Sam's leadership, but have them also train the Young X-Men to allow for constant appearances of the students without us being bombarded with Rockslide bragging all the time right before he gets his hand shattered. Cannonball, Magma, Karma, Sunspot, Magick.
