But see, I don't like saying goodnight because it's like I'm about to sleep...which I'm not hehe.

Good afternoon fellow Cyclops fans, lol. What's up?

Typing away busily at the keyboard trying to save our favorite hero's life and his relationship. You?

It's 1:15am but I just got home and I have a big project to do, so I'll be up all night... sup?

This picture is HUGE, but noisey/grainy as hell... I think it's an intentional effect though. I haven't seen it posted yet.

I'll ride shotgun for a little bit with you, working on a fanfic and got an idea for a pic manip.

I want to do a Jean eyemanip with a picture I just found but my parent's computer that had Photoshop CS exploded (not quite literally... it's having some kind of overheating issue, I think I have to replace a fan or something) and my other computer with Photoshop is 2 hours away...

I suppose there are better uses for my time anyway, like this project, so that I can sleep and all.

What's your fic about?

Hehe, oh the evils of homework. What school do you go to?

My fic is.... big surprise... X-men. I'm working on what's going to be a flashback scene going back to X2. To help the rest of the story, I wanted to elaborate a little bit and give more insight to Scott and Jean's relationship. Their moment together at the museum was touching but a bit rushed:

"what's wrong?"
"I have a feeling that something terrible's going to happen"
"don't worry" [hugs]

It was good, but it needs a little... more. So I'll give them another chance to talk right before Jean has to fly off for Boston. Don't worry, once you see the rest of the story you'll understand the methods behind my madness :)

I don't tend to read X-Men fanfic because, just due to the target audience, they're often poorly written -- absolutely nothing against your story or anything! I just mean from what I've seen. I'm too impatient to wade through all the crap to find the good stuff.

I'm a really big stickler for grammatical correctness in things that I read (enough so that if someone uses "then" instead of "than", I might stop reading the story). Plus the universes are confusing enough to keep together in my head without fan-written alternate universes muddling things up, and many fans don't take the time to learn the real universe (I don't think even the real writers remember it all sometimes) so they often take the quick way out and write it AU.

Enough of that rambling, lol.

I go to the University of Western Ontario... until Thursday, when I'm done for good.

Haha, I know what you mean.

Some works like those written by "Juliebmr" are wonderfully written and coherent. Novels such as "Grail" are a masterpiece. But other works are written by people who may have good ideas but obviously cannot handle written English!!! Not everyone can be a good writer, and not everyone can write a masterpiece unless they have experience writing. I know what you mean by wading through the crap to get to the good stuff. Some people don't understand the importance of pacing. They'll have characters sit down for dinner and then spend the next 3 hours talking :)

I have a similar pet peeve for people who can't spell the character's names properly. Any time I see someone write "Rouge" instead of "Rogue" I cringe.

that's why I prefer to stick to the movieverse. It's alot simpler and more straightforward. doesn't involve aliens or time travel or galactic empires so it's on a more manageable scale and the character backgrounds are much simpler so you don't need to wade through 40 years of details for a character who's only 21 years old :)

So it's final projects week for you, huh?

Yeah, the fandom's fic suffers major quality problems... but then I suppose the same could be said for most fandoms. There are also a lot of squicky (to me) pairings, and that's saying a lot, considering I'm a REALLY open-minded person.

LOL, I loved the nudge to the fanfic writers in Ultimate X-Men... something in the Magnetic North arc... when Kitty finds Bobby's emails to Rogue, which she points out that he spells as "Rouge".

I've seen you mention that novel in another thread... I'll maybe look into it when I'm done school. I'm not sure that I can put in that kind of time though! It looks LONG.

And yeah, what kind of calendars do they follow in comicverse anyway? Scott's a bit older now, but he's clearly not pushing 60.

School-wise, it's the summer term, and I'm only taking one course... Instead of a final exam, we have a 50% group project. I would have preferred writing a final... it's like ripping the bandaid off.

Oh you mean like all those love scenes between Logan and Scott? Cuddling on the couch while sharing a beer? :)

BWAHAHA that's hilarious!!!

Trust me, it's worth the read. It's deep but well paced and easy to read. And it really is a welcome change to find someone who does her research, be it the characters, the mythology, medical terms, or even watching the previous 2 films!

You won't regret it.

If time is precious due to school, there are other, shorter stories linked to her site. I highly recommend the one called "Autumn". It's only 2 pages long but very touching IMHO:

It's all the reboots that make things confusing. Some characters seem to be reborn multiple times and have 3-4 different biographies. I won't even get into the deaths. o_O That's why I'd rather stick to the movieverse for fanfiction projects. It's a bit more... manageable. If I even tried diving into one of the comic megaverses, i'd drown!

Thank goodness for 24-hour Tim Hortons, eh? :)

I agree with some of the pairings in fanfic being icky. I'm open minded too, but yeah, some are just creepy. And yes, it annoys the hell out of me when people don't spell the names right. But I still enjoy reading them, just like reading the comics. I recently started writing one, my first ever, and I'm proud to say it's an X-Men one, lol. I felt inspired.

Edit: Re:ntcralwers post...what's wrong with Scott/Logan? Lol. I find some of those stories cute...if they're done right.

Scott / Logan scenes = OK. Scott / Logan cuddling and kissing on couch = NOT OK. X-Men and Yaoi do not mix.

It's a character thing.

Are they writing Scott and Logan? Or are they writing two lovesick boys wearing Scott and Logan's bodies?

And ntcrawler, I'm at my parents' house, far far away from campus, so there's no 24-hour Timmy's around :( I'd prefer a 24-hour Second Cup or Starbucks though... mmmm green tea lattes.

FWIW, I don't think Scott and Logan could EVER be "cute" together... gruff and manly, maybe... possibly some angsty hurt/comfort, but just no to any kind of romance. Scott can't express his feelings and Logan barely has any sometimes... it's not like they'd talk it out over a candlelit dinner. It'd be dirty and wrong.

imo.

Oh no they'd never be cute together. They'd save each other's life in battle, but wouldn't hesitate to insult each other in the process. Logan's good on offering advise though, even when people don't want to hear it. It may be painful and gritty, but he knows how to drive certain points home. Candlelit dinner? No. But hanging around a bar? Yes. Granted Logan can't get drunk because of his healing factor, which only serves to make him even more miserable and colorful. It'd be an interesting scene. Especially if they just happened to find each other sulking at the same bar over some issue that's bothering them both.

Hahahaha... in one of the later New X-Men storylines, Scott was upset about his life after the Apocalypse thing... Logan found Scott at the Hellfire Club getting hammered, and one of them challenged the other to a drinking contest -- last man standing.

God knows what Scott was thinking. Probably nothing, as his face hit the ground.

Most likely the latter since this kind of stuff can only be wishful thinking. Never mind the fact that both chars are as straight as a laser beam, even their friendship is aknowledged grudgingly and with few choice words. Same deal for the respect they may have for each other. It's all a giant testosterone fight. It's obviously a well known rivalry in the school, as their hallway arguments are considered entertainment by the student body and the kids are known to place side-bets to see who gets the last word or walks away from the argument first. Their relationship can best be destribed as "no one makes fun of or beats him up except me". A shame they never had a chance to duke it out or get their frustrations out of their system.

Green tea lattes are wonderful during the day, but if you need to pull an all nighter nothing beats pouring a bottle of no-doz into an extra large coffee or even taking spoonfuls of coffee straight from the can as a friend of mine has been known to do during exam week :D

Alright, it's been nice chatting, but financial statement analysis is SO not working at this hour so I need to crash.

Night!
