Ooom, it's soooo delicious! It's melting in my mouth!! :p Bet you wish you could have some, but you can't. :o

Personally...I'm not a Cyclops fan, but...I think he needs more in the this film...

If I was writing it...the movie would take place at maximum 3-4 months after X2. Cyclops would still be grieving and at points wouldn't be as stoic or stern, but more emotional. Prof. X would be helping him with his emotions while Storm was given a higher presence over the students and was made temporary leader under Prof. X. all while Wolverine and Cyclops' tensions would be a bit more eased as Cyke and Logan try to not work against each other as much.

Having dreams of Jean still being alive, a big reason he needs Xavier's help with emotional scars, Cyke goes back to the lake where Jean died. And there he reflects on his past with Jean and Xavier and the other original members (Storm and Beast). As he stands by the lake, Jean mentally detects him and she calls to Scott. This forces Jean to rise back out of the water. She is not full-on Phoenix here. She is just Jean with more power, back alive. They have a tearful reunion and return to the X-Mansion.

While newly-returned to the X-Mansion, Jean's mind is fragile and Prof. X notices the mental blocks that he placed on her are breaking down. As he tries to fix them, Jean learns of this and it helps break her weak mind...this pushes her Phoenix persona over the edge and causes her to become full-on Phoenix. She causes devastation and injures a member of the team or two, but Scott tries to reach out to her...this causes massive conflict inside her mind and she quickly flees from the X-Men, trying to cope with her two personas.

Scott goes on to help the X-Men fight against the Brotherhood and Magneto's plan and eventually helps them bring Jean around back to her true self...With Xavier's help, Scott breaches Jean's mind and works to rebuild her true self as the others physically battle Dark Phoenix. Eventually Cyke pulls Jean Grey's persona out and Jean conquers her Phoenix persona and returns. This re-forges Scott and Jean's love and they become engaged at the end...this is one of many reasons for Logan to accept the fact he needs to leave again (leading in to his Spin-Off).

This is just kinda how I'd do it...dealing with Cyke's role and the Phoenix sub-plot. I feel this would be the most endearing and best way to deal with it. Well something similar to this at least, not exactly.

I like this treatment. Well done.

Storm's portrayal has raised a huge number of complaints ... There has not been the same clamour over Cyclops. His alleged death has sparked a lot of criticism, but other than that there has not been a huge outcry over the portrayal of the character at all. Any outcry should have happened long before Marsden decided to take a part in Superman and long before they decided - possibly - to kill the Cyclops character. It's a bit late in the day to scream and stamp feet now.
Just want to note that I've been complaining about the handling of Cyclops since X1. So I'm harding screaming or stamping feet suddenly. ;)

Second, on Marsden, Singer and Superman ... I have a personal theory. It's no more than a hunch, mind, based on putting together some curious facts ... but I'll toss it out.

So -- my clues ... If you'll notice, despite Cyke's very small part in X2, Jimmy Marsden was at nearly every X2 publicity function, etc. No complaints. When asked about his small role, he repeatedly said that it was an ensemble movie, can't be about everyone, etc. ... very diplomatic remarks. He also alluded, in some interviews, to the fact X3 was likely to be about Dark Phoenix, which would include him, since she was his film girlfriend. Again, nothing presumed, but the implication was there. That ending was hardly filmed without thought to where the franchise would go next, so I'm quite sure there was a lot of talk about X3, even if no concrete plans made.

Now, my little theory is that certain agreements were made behind the scenes. Marsden and Singer are friends. Singer likes Marsden's acting. And Marsden stumped for X2 like a trooper -- far more than Halle, whose part was notably larger. She was making noises even during X2 that she might not be back for X3; Marsden always intended to return. There's no hint he wouldn't come back (nor any that he didn't expect to come back, if asked).

So I've always rather assumed that Singer had promised Marsden a larger role in X3 ... or promised as much as Hollywood ever can promise. Thus, Marsden was happy to promote X2 ... which would lead to X3. In short, it's a future investment for him. Yes, I think Marsden is a genuinely nice guy, from what I've heard, but he has to think of what will help his career. He's not a fan, he's an actor (even if he may like the franchise).

Yet despite all the informal pre-planning for X3, it languished with no firm dates to begin, Singer eventually gave up and took Superman, Fox went ballistic ... and we know the fallout of that. Er -- where does that leave Singer's possible promise to Jimmy?

What may be the most remarkable aspect of this story -- again, IF my hunch is anywhere on target -- is what happened next. Singer came through for Marsden. Not on X-Men ... but on Superman. Richard White is not a comics character, and as has been pointed out, Marsden certainly didn't have to play the role. I suspect Singer not only offered him the role to make up for what happened with X3, but may even have created it with him in mind. At the time Marsden signed up, there wasn't any noise of X3. He was the first X-Man to sign, already on the project before Singer talked to Famke or Shawn Ashmore, which evoked backlash rumblings from Fox. Famke and Ashmore -- both of whom stood to have larger roles in X3 by default -- quickly backed out. But Marsden was already in, signed on the dotted line.

In a Hollywood where backstabbing seems to be the rule, if my hunch is true and Singer came through on a behind-the-scenes promise even when the original film it pertained to went kerflutz, then I think it speaks pretty well of his loyalty and friendship. Good on him! That would also, btw, make it a lot harder, ethically, for Jimmy to back out, whatever Fox was farting in his direction.

Again ... all speculation. But I do think there's a bit more going on with all this that we see on the surface. ;)

The Medicine Wheel: X-Men Fanfiction

Very insightful. I just hope that Returns pays off for Singer and Marsden...because they are going to need it.

I also hope the X-Men franchise will pay off for FOX because they are taking a huge risk in killing Scott off like this.

Excellent theory, Minisinoo. I couldnt understand for the life of me why Marsden would work with Singer again after Singer basically underdeveloped him for two films(Though I will say Cyke was more developed in X1, especially if you add in deleted scenes.)

umm...how do you know they are killing him off? do any of you guys remember that joblo report with the guy who knew 75% of the script and knew who was going to be killed off? and then tamron e-mailed him and he said the three people who would die are
Jean, professor x and pyro
? i didnt see cyclops in there. I dont think they will kill him off after the outlash by fans and plus he is just to important to be killed off.

Don't be so quick to trust JoBlo.According to them,Nick Stahl was guaranteed to play Angel.

im not. most of you who read it immediatly thaught that one of the "obvious ones" to be killed would be cyke but then it turns out that it is supposedly those three people not cyke. and plus no one knows the current faith of cyclops right now i mean there's not even a solid script yet! Stop jumping to conclusions. Give it some time, i am really hoping cyclops will be alive.

I hope Tamron's right Gap5....

*fingers crossed*

me too, me too.

it just didnt sound right, cyclops dying, since the reception they got from us when we found out about him dying.

So, your nocturnal now, huh kol?

bah what is the deal with you two? honestly. jp stop picking on kol.

well i love you, in a non-homo kind of way.

and in the end that's all that matters.

back on topic now...so yeah, good to know Cyclops might not bite the big one. i think i heard this before. i dunno. can't remember..

id be happy with xavier, pyro and jean grey dying.

because i believe out of the main current cast. he'd be the one most likely to do a spinoff, i so want him to lead in a x-generation movie.

i'll say it again, it'd be totally *****in if Xaiver died and Magneto took over the school and the X-Men.

Im not picking. :( Your were basically up all last night, were you not? You were gone for a long while recently, so I assume you went to sleep finaly... and now your back.

Im just curious... :(
