And look, I'm not even trying to say the film is perfect in every way, but I'm always going to argue the stuff that I honestly believe is just fanboy nitpicking. Complaining about Lazerbeak having dialogue? Quit your b****in'!

Why do the humans have to be featured so much?!?! BECAUSE IT'S THEIR FREAKIN' PLANET!!!! Earth has almost seven billion people on it,the idea that the Transformers would be more prominently featured is ridiculous when measured against the aforementioned abundance of human beings on the planet Earth and the logical sense it genuinely makes for human characters to be as involved as they are in the films, and the budgetary restraints of showing a whole rack of robots for more screen time than we already got them for, to say nothing of the quality action we did get from them, and a few genuine moments of character interaction.

That's the one that kills me, because the whole point of Transformers was that they came to OUR PLANET, disguised themselves as OUR VEHICLES, and had this big old war, but most if not all of their fights would just happen in random deserts and areas of wilderness. THAT WOULD NOT MAKE FOR A GOOD MOVIE!!!
lol, as a G1 fan I just had to facepalm the talking laserbeak because it's typical Bay. "How do I improve this Laserbeak? I'll make him talk! He doesn't have a humanoid form but who cares? I hate this stuff anyways."

No one is saying take out the humans completely. Just make the Transformers personalities and moral conflicts as important as the human characters instead of them just being giant monsters like a Godzilla flick.

It's pretty childish for people like you to assume weezerspider that all we want to see are direct adaptations of the cartoon.

Transformers are just upset that critics hate this movie again and this can't get Spider-Man 2 fan or X-Men: First Class reviews.

The first one that everyone clamors about didn't even get good reviews. It's a rotten on RT. The critics that don't like this movie now somehow like the first one that they didn't like.

I am shocked that it is in the 30s on RT. I would have thought it would have been in the 40s-50s.

Oh well, I see it tonight. Never did I expect amazing reviews. I liked the first one so as long as it is as good or close then I will be fine.

actually I thought it was an improvement....Lazerbeak went from plot device in the cartoons (how did the decepticons know....oh Lazerbeak was listening) to an actual character

Wow, I didn't think a movie could possibly be worst then GL, until I saw this last night. Once again, I got my hopes up from the trailers (Bay does make good trailers, I'll give him that).

All the signs were there of this being back to what they did in the first one, 1.) no dumb-ass Megan Fox, 2.) no sterotype gangsta wanna be autobots 3.) more epic in scope.

And yet with all that Bay can't help but falling into the same pitfalls that made the second one such a horrible movie. It's like he's walking down the street and there's a piece of dog s*** infront of him, and he looks down right at it and picks up his foot and firmly places it right in the middle, and then squishes it in for good measure.

Michael Bay is quite possibly the worst film maker in America. Why does this guy still get work? Well, because people seem to line up for miles to watch this ****.

I pray that this film freaking tanks like no other film in the history of cinema. Please, for the sake of humanity don't go watch this pile of excrement.

worst movie of the summer, easily.

2/10

No offense to Transformer cartoon fans(I'm one of them), but its pretty childish to act like directly adapting the show to the big screen would make better movies than the actual movies. Its not like a lot of superhero comic book adaptions, where most comic books actually have well written stories with well written characters. The Transformers shows are pretty childish writing. Yes they are widely entertaining, but a direct adaption would have been just as cheesy as the franchise Bay gave us. This movie was widely entertaining, despite it being terribly dumb. Its a great mindless action flick. Its not a work of art, but then again, I go to Transformers to see robots kill each other, not to see well written stories. Its been like that since I was a kid.

i think even the cartoons had better robot dialoge than this...

they had the robots saying the most redundant crap ever written..
when optimus flies to save sam he says "im coming to save you!"... or "now i kill you" when he's fighting decepticons.

its like those lines were written in post to narrate what you are seeing in case you cant make out whats happening in all the carnage.

this had the worst fight dialoge in all three movies lol

Again what was so terrible about it? Because it did'nt follow G1 cartoons to the letter? Because Bumblebee is not a beatle? Megatron is not a gun? Because humans are in it? Because your personal fave TF did'nt get enough screentime or died? All fanboy nitpicking in my opinon. Your entitled to you opinions but why did you see this in the first place. It seems you hate Bay and the previous 2 movies. Does't make sense to me to waste money on something you know you will hate going into.

As I read some of the complaints now some are legit and most are just fanboy nitpicking yet again. And it makes me wonder if you hated the first two movies and Bay why go see this in the first place? To this day I have never gotten a decent response from haters when I ask them this question. Someone enlighten me?

People probably went to see this one even though they hated the first two because of the reports that this was the best one yet.

I might watch it just so I can see what Bay got right and what he got wrong and so I can debate the artistic merits of the source material versus Bay's version.

lmao thats so true.. and i love how everyone is saying they included human characters to relate to the audience... what human characters!? these are criminally insane people.

I think it has it's place, it's like a comedy and it's always kinda exciting to see the next dude. Like the intro shot to Malkovich. we all knew what was coming, for better or worse. We all knew.

To me it is terrible because the dialogue is incomprehensible. The lead character, Sam, is ****ing obnoxious. The first 30 minutes of Sam's story are ****ing pointless and stop the movie dead. Sam is an obnoxious and annoying character. He screams constantly and it is like nails on a chalk board. Not to mention he's freaking whiney. Spider-Man movies were what they were. But at least for the most part, I liked Peter because he wasn't whining about all his **** 24/7. Sam you got another super model high maitenance girlfriend, what are you so upset about?

Final battle. Autobots appear than disappear constantly. They are almost inconsequential. Optimus leaves to get his trailer. Umm I want to see it taken back. Autobots are taken prisoner, how the **** did that happen?! I want to see that.

Autobot dialogue is terrible and inane. It almost looks like they aren't even talking. Over the battles you sort of hear lines that just sound off and awkward.

Final battle -- Optimus Prime BEGS for his life. He pulls a couple ***** moves in this battle as well.

It not being like the cartoons and not having Bumblebee be a beetle has nothing to do with it. So maybe you guys need to get a grip and stop coming up with the same ****** arguments to defend the film.

This was not Transformers: The Dark Knight despite what Michael Bay wanted.

I don't understand why Lazerbeak speaks but not Prowl, since both of them originated as one of Soundwave's minions. I haven't watched the movie so I can't say whether it is a good decision or not to let him speak, though.

LOL all your arguments are all the same. We KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT!

Sorry Marvin none of that makes it good.

This movie was Fantastic! Thats what the guy behind me proudly proclaimed as he started singing the Linkin Park song that played during the credits. Me tho?

I kinda liked it, i mean i'm those people who take this for granted at what it is, it's ridicilously stupid fun and you just wanna see robots vs. robots with the addition of the human army, so yeah random thoughts put in here what i liked and disliked.

The first 20 minutes are really good, you got this secret with Sentinel Prime and we learn that Decepticons have been on earth working with these pillars, while also being abit confusing how it works with the previous movies since i was under the impression noone knew where Megatron had gone, then we got this cool subplot that should have been expanded: Autobots working as government assassins and taking down terrorists and whatnot bad guys with the Army special forces, that was awesome! Sam's plot is uninteresting, but it has so many silly moments and pretty ridicilous dialogue that it keeps you entertained, tho it does drag the movie alot, i mean who really cares about these people? I always thought it was a shame the soldier guy with a wife and baby(which we never hear from) was really cool, they should focus on that. Sam's parents are barely in the movieand they're just running the same jokes how Sam needs to man up and his mom wonders does he have a big cock, because thats how families in America are, right?! I always liked Sam's dad and his moral support, and he does it again this time.

In the middle of the movie there comes a really cool twist, i really liked the twist, even tho you kinda don't care about it because the characters don't get developed enough, but it's still cool what happens, i'll put it in a spoiler tag:
Sentinel Prime is the main bad guy here, he was an elitist *****ébag who wanted to slave humanity and bring Cybertron back to it's former glory

Megatron's design was really awesome, he's a wounded soldier and i really liked it, Shockwave is played as this really big menace but he never really does anything to make him this main villain or anything, he ultimately like the rest gets his ass handed, the last fight between Megatron, Optimus and so forth is again really *really* short, it takes a few seconds and then the movie rushes with it's last "wise words" from Optimus and the american flag proudly stands behind them, AMERICA!

I was disappointed majorly how:
Noone relevant dies even tho they claimed this was a dark film, i mean they should have had someone like Bumblebee die, especially if Paranmount just plans to reboot this.

Still it's a worth seeing movie for it's last hour which is allout war between the good guys and the bad guys, it has it's dumb moments like human made wiring that can stop Optimus Prime but Cybertron made machines are one shotted by him almost, but yeah it's not the dumbest movie this summer, but its definatly one of the most well made action movies.

So eh a grade? C+ Maybe? I dunno, i just really loved the Chicago War that made the movie for me.

I think you need to take the good with the bad. yes the movie had some cartoon dialogue at points, but why the hell are you going to ignore all the strong dialogue the primes had and some of the other people and write it all off?

how horrible was this for example?

Jest saying how being even handed. And I say this without bringing up other(nolan) movies.
or do it:yay:

Have I mentioned before that I love io9's movie reviews?

"After a few hours of seeing Shia get dissed, overlooked and mistreated, the message becomes clear: Shia, as always, is a stand-in for Michael Bay. And Bay is showing us just what it felt like to deal with the ocean of Haterade — the snarking, the Razzie Award, the mean reviews — that Revenge of the Fallen unleashed.....
...It's not really a spoiler to say that the final hour of this film includes a series of scenes where absolutely everybody stands around saying how wrong they were to ignore Shia, and how awesome Shia really is.
That's the reaction Michael Bay is envisioning you'll have by the end of this film: a deep remorse that you ever doubted him, and a profound appreciation for his contribution to the continued awesomeness of the world."

I love io9's movie reviews.

Hey I wasn't saying that to argue for it, I was pointing out that we all seen it coming with that zoom in.

it doesn't matter if we expected it or not it was lame.
and please, let's not talk about redundant arguments mr Hal Jordan/Ryan Reynolds lol, I love it.

Very well articulated. This is exactly how I feel.

And seriously Optimus was begging for his life! What kind of crap is that???

And right after this he obliterates Megatron with one arm in the most anti-climatic fight in the trilogy.

It's pretty childish for people like you to assume weezerspider that all we want to see are direct adaptations of the cartoon.

It is also childish to use poor grammar. I think what you meant was " It's pretty childish for people like you, weezerspider, to assume that all we want to see are direct adaptations of the cartoon".

And to answer the question: I never said everyone wanted that, but there have been plenty of people talking about Optimus's portrayal in the movie being changed for no reason for the movie. I agree Bay might have changed him a little too much, but Optimus needed some change and he needed a little added spark in the real world. In the real world people kill in wars. That is the unfortunate truth about war. Optimus needed a little bit of the killer's mentality he showed in DOTM. I agree Bay took it a little too far, but a direct adaption of the character in this setting would be extremely cheesy. Its like the Cap fans who don't want him using a gun in the middle of WWII.

dont know why but even in the cartoons some animal transformers talked (The space shuttle lion/bird thingie) and some didnt
I think even Ratback talked

this based on what?
as much as I hate Armond White, he's right about the nature of reviews taking a turn.

well said
last time I checked one shall stand, one shall fall isn't about a game of musical chairs

you can have comedy without having characters that just cross the line of sanity or realism...or more importantly the genre this is trying to be (independence day for example)

i almost applauded when the asian guy was killed...my applause was stopped when john malkovich started making some random jokes about it

this movie would do that then in a split second try to go dramatic..then right back to something ridiculous..

did we really need the scene where josh does his cliche..." im not gonna ask any of you guys to go with me, you might not come back"...etc speech
