Optimus Prime arrives on the battlefield. Our noble leader looks around and says...

"KILL THEM ALL"

Does that sound like Optimus Prime to you? Oh, and then he follows it up with, "NOW YOU DIE."

I felt sorry for Peter Cullen.
This isn't G1 Prime. The Decepticons were massacring the humans. It was the only way to stop them.

Better than, 'Let's let them live so they can kill millions of innocent people.'

I'm not saying he can't kill Decepticons. That would be dumb. But to totally morph Optimus into a bloodthirsty killer? Unforgivable.

Imagine Batman reaching down and tearing Ra's Al Ghul's throat out at the end of BB instead of letting him die in a crash. It's the same thing.

Ok no spoilers... but Unicron is not in this?

it was so "ok" like a solid C effort. too many anti climactic scenes and misplaced hype here and there also ruined by the trailer. Many breathtaking moments, but all in all the hype of the last hour was a let down. Again Bay fails to pull off a climactic finale. WTF? does optimus always need to be the final guy? where is team work? do we ever get him fighting WITH bumble Bee as a team effort or is it the same regurgitated scenerio every movie? a decent movie but very very poor story telling and character development. felt like sucker punch. lots of COOL stuff, but nothing worth discussin plot wise

I officially only like Michael Bay for visuals and NOTHING else

and no optimus is noble and wouldnt kill out of cold blood especially EVER have sed KILL THEM ALL...WTF??!!!

It looked to me that Optimus was fed up with the Decepticons and their crap. So he decided to just wipe them out.

Batman would be more effective if he actually killed the bad guys. Imagine how many innocent people would still be alive if he had just gotten rid of the Joker.

That's why I like the Punisher. He knows how to take care of ****. :woot:

He still wouldnt say that. and an anti climactic moment of the movie was when he loses his trailer u would think that would be a plot point of action for him to get it back, but nope suddenly he's flying later on in a very anti climactic COOL scene where i never quite get that feeling of when he showed up to the scene in Transformers 1 with the theme music and the cool transforming. I still wish i could see that transforming done technically like the first one from time to time.

The story of Batman is not about what he feels is necessarily more effective but what is the right thing to do and he believes people need a second chance and who is he to be the executioner and end up as his enemies? he would be no different. nobility is what separates the hero from the villain.

I know. I wasn't completely serious about that.

So pretty much, [BLACKOUT]After killing Sentinel Prime, Optimus is like "you know, **** you too" and kills Megatron?[/BLACKOUT]

Yea that was not like his character AT ALL. I dont like this interpretation of prime as he wasnt like that in the first movie. he went pretty much against everything he was developed to be in the first movie. He was humble and merciful and suddenly the war on earth pushes him over the edge? come on. this dude lost an entire PLANET in a war and remained humble, but on earth he loses it and becomes a cold blooded avenger?

I am a fan of the first one and was horribly disappointed by RotF (hated it SO MUCH) - but I loved Dark of the Moon.

Only thing that worried me was the 15 minute stretch involving
Ken Jeong and some more comedy
that had me going 'no no, this is going to be in RotF territory again, NO!' but the movie pulled out of the nose dive and it was smooth sailing. Can't wait to see it again. Franchised redeemed.

So the humour in the film isn't as terrible as it was in the second movie?

Nothing special. He was there and did some stuff.

He went out like a ***** after saving Optimus Prime's ass. Optimus Prime was getting killed by Sentinel and Optimus Prime begged for his life. Megatron jumps in and saves Optimus Prime from certain death. Sentinel Prime is incapacitated. Optimus Prime then wastes Megatron and then Sentinel Prime.

Megatron saved Optimus from getting wasted and was fragged for his troubles. It was sort of disappointing.

HORRIBLE story telling and the butchering of a character, but i can see why they did that. megatron is still very wicked...too many plot holes to count smh

I know. I wasn't completely serious about that.

Superman has killed.

Sometimes there's just no choice.

optimus had a choice in both movies where he simply does it out of cold blood. he is a leader and general and could have at least used the gate in reverse and sent megatron into the portal exiling him...just could have had a better way to do it rather than sheer murder as megatron wasnt even attacking him at that point

Eh, like you said... he lost his planet... maybe he refused to lose another. If I was given the chance to take out TWO evils at once... I would.

I agree with you that he shouldn't have said stuff like that, but I have absolutely no problem with his actions. If it's any consolation, I doubt he enjoyed it.

He would have died with the portal anyways... all of Cybertron imploded either way.

I saw it in IMAX 3D. I was speechless. It was TERRIFIC, but I'm trying not to spoil it... but I didn't like the death of so many characters. Seems like this is truly the end of the line for the movies. Unless it's rebooted with Galvatron and Rodimus prime.

Michael bay lived up to his usual deception (no pun intended) in declaring shockwave as the villain. People will be surprise when they learn who the true villain in the movie is.

Overall, this was the best movie of the 3. Although, it's kind of bittersweet, because I don't know how it could be rebooted again.

Not sure how much of a difference it is, but didn't he say, "We'll kill them all!" when he met up with Sam again?

It sounded more like reassurance than a command.

On Prime's brutality, you get the sense that Optimus Prime is ready to make good on his promise to protect Earth at all cost, even if the cost includes his famed gentle nature and gentlemanly manners. He becomes the machine he needs to be to win the day. He is no longer a Cybertronian peace-warrior at this point, but a citizen of Earth residing primarily in America. And Americans are known for their insatiable blood lust so it makes sense. Frankly, I'm proud of his actions.

Anyway, the movie was entertaining. Better than the second, but longer, more boring and less concise than the first. It still is worthy of better reviews as it is in no way as much of a mess as Green Lantern or Hangover II or many other movies this summer.

Alright. I just saw this. And I don't care what the critics say or the bay-haters sing. I'm going to come out and say all the little gripes people have with this film is misplaced. It is not enough to tarnish the rest of the movie, its story, its characters, and its action.

Now that I've seen the film myself, it is more evident now than it ever has been that people have a bias, personal vendetta against Michael Bay and his directing style. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Plain and simple. Now, that doesn't mean you have to like this film or everything Bay has ever done, but it does mean giving credit where credit is due and not throw away the entire quality of this movie because "The Asian guy was stupid and lame". The Asian guy who was in the movie for 5 minutes? That one? 5 minutes out of a very long (I'm still winded here) 2 1/2 hour film? Or the 2 little robots (Wheelies and Brains) who were "annoying" (who were actually quite cute - the Twins they were NOT)? Or that Simmons has a "useless" assistant (who I thought was charming in the role)? All those little things (and I stress to you, they are little) takes away from everything else that is entertaining and exhilirating from this film? It seems to me people just don't want to give credit where credit is due, and it pains them more so when it comes to Michael Bay than anyone else (the only other director I can think of would be George Lucas).

Were there things I didn't like about this movie? Of course. There are things I don't like about ALL movies, including some of my favourites like THERE WILL BE BLOOD, REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, SUNSHINE, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, STAR WARS, THE DARK KNIGHT, INCEPTION, etc.....And YES just because I like TRANSFORMERS I can still like and appreciate heavy thought-provoking films as well. So I completely and utterly disagree with critics when they say Transformers is "dumb". There are countless of ridiculous movies these people love that I think are "dumb", but WHY does it always have to apply to Transformers only? I truly believe people sit in their seats when watching this film with there arms crossed and any bit of saving grace this movie has people just roll their eyes at it.

I'll tell you what I didn't like. I thought it was too long. A half-hour cut could have saved it from dragging a bit. I also don't like how we spend so much time listening to soldiers give and take orders (same issue with the previous 2 films). I didn't like the part when the Asian dude took out his guns, but it was that one part. I didn't like how abrupt the ending was. I felt the first film had the same problem.

Now let me tell you what I did like : Everything else. Anyone who says Rose is a horrible actress is overstating it. She wasn't Oscar worthy but she was just fine. She emoted and did her role justice. For this being her first major flick, she seemed very comfortable with her other co-stars. The reviews bashing her are way out of line. And I'll say the same thing for Shia. Shia is a great actor. I don't care what anyone who's been misguided by his mainstream persona have to say. He is great with comedy and he is fantastic when **** gets serious. The action was incredible and the film had a lot of touching moments through-out. Optimus Prime was BAD-ASS. He wasn't going to take it anymore, nor should he. Shockwave was also criminal. I loved how he sent his pet to do all the dirty work as he watched. His "Ain't no one ****ing with me" attitude was amazing. What a Boss. And I loved all the JFK stuff in the beginning.

I'll get flamed for this post, I'm sure. And I apologize for its length. I just feel it has to be said. What I saw was nowhere near as "bad", "horrible" or whatever term people want to spew. I loved it. 4/5 or 8/10.
