I bet it was cut.

And i'd love to slap the **** out all the Bay bashers. Maybe they can get over it all, and just watch the damn movie....or dont.

It was pretty awesome though. Too long at parts.

Could have been cut by 20 min for sure. There was some really cool **** in this movie and Bay has done some amazing action here. Since this is his last Transformers film I just was hoping he would have gave the autobots some more time and less humans. Especially in the last act.

What was so special about the final battle taking place in Chicago, did the Sears Tower being the tallest building in the U.S. have anything to do with it?

Chicago hadnt been blown up yet....haha.

The Decepticons did what the Joker failed to do. Decimate that place. :hehe:

I went in with the LOWEST of expectations. Given how much hate I have for ROTF my only hope for DOTM was that it was not as terrible as that POS.

...mission accomplished, and then some.

It doesn't touch the first movie (which to this day I still find to be a pretty awesome 'popcorn movie') but it is leaps and bounds above the atrocious second.

It still had some issues, the "stupid humor" is still there in the form of Ken Jeong and the final battle could've been trimmed by about 20 minutes but overall, I generally had a pretty good time.

I liked the story

the idea of humans working with the Decepticions for decades was an angle I didn't see coming.

and you really got the sense that the world was truly in danger this time around.

Plus there were also some very shocking moments as well

scenes of humans being vaporized by Decepticons for example. Sentinel Primes betrayal and subsequent murder of Ironhide.

The execution of that 'Doctor' autobot.

But overall, very well done. I enjoyed myself. That's all I wanted.

Transormers: 8.5/10
Revenge of the Fallen: 5/10
Dark of the Moon: 7/10

Quick question:

The scene when Bumblebee and the other Autobots were captured....was that a diversion (that went horribly wrong what with the doctor being executed) or were they simply captured?

I'll have to watch it again but I could've sworn that part of the plan was for some of the Autobots to get captured in order to divert the attention of the Decepticions while Optimus went for his Jetpack.

I think the Wreckers were sent as a diversion for Shockwave. The scene your talking about wasnt really set up right imo. They got captured somehow and it wasnt explained. Unless I missed something

The script was full of holes, there was a bunch of stuff that didn't work, went on too long, or just needed to be cut, the new girl was awful (but that's as much a function of the script and Michael Bay's "direction" as anything else), the story lacked cohesion and clarity, there are about a million missed opportunities and wasted moments (Ironhide's death), and Shockwave was irrelevant.

Like all the Transformers films, it was pretty dumb--but unlike Revenge of the Fallen, it wasn't overwhelmed by it's own stupidity and still managed to be enjoyable. It's probably the best of the three, though that isn't saying much.

Frankly, the only reason I tolerate these movies is because they treat Optimus with respect, and there's usually about five solid minutes of Prime ripping Decepticons to shreds (literally). Since this film had that in spades (I grinned like an idiot at "TIME TO FIND OUT."), I went home happy.

I couldn't honestly call DOTM a good movie, but it was certainly a guilty pleasure. I'll sit through plot holes and ******ed Michael Bay-isms to hear Peter Cullen spew awesomeness and watch Optimus Prime shredding jerks.

Fantastic movie. Loved that the bots were more of a focus, story was good, loved the twists during. Sentinel Prime was awesome and is a bad ass. the last hour was absolutely breathtaking. wingsuits were ridiculously awesome. I enjoyed the new chick more than Fox definitely but she wasnt anything special. There was stuff that could have been cut but oh well I never felt it dragged at all. Cant wait to see it again

I think you're right. If memory serves me correctly,
Bumblebee had just saved Lennox and Sam from falling just a minute earlier.

...next thing we know he's on his knees, captured by the Decepticons?

Longer review later but I would've thought this was the best of the bunch, just based on the tone of the second half of the picture...if the film wouldn't have essentially retconned the first two films.

Trying to understand the mythology of these films is technically irrelevant, but it's pretty bad here.

Megatron's ultimate plan makes absolutely no sense, if you go by his and the Fallen's plan from the second film.

This film wants us to understand that Megatron, as working for the Fallen to find the All Spark, like the rest of the Seekers, so he and the Fallen could find the location of the Matrix of Leadership in order to reactivate the Sun Harvester to destroy our Sun for it's energy to help rebuild Cybertron.

But, before he's sent with the rest of the Seekers, he makes an alliance with Sentinel Prime to bring Cybertron to Earth and make the inhabitants of Earth their slaves in order to rebuild Cybertron.

Bull****.

And don't even let me get into the situation with Carly and how she works in this film. Clearly, the part was written for Mikaela because a lot of her dialogue is suppose to be emotional support for Sam. Problem? She hasn't been through the **** with Sam. Michael Bay and Ehren Krueger totally cluster**** Sam and Mikaela's entire storyline from the first two films by how they handle Sam's arc in this film.

I would just ignore the second one....just saying. You wont get as much of a headache...heh.

Also, blame Megan Fox for ****ing with the storyline....she pissed of The Beard, and there ya go.

Yeah, the bots kept showing up and going so it was kinda hard to tell or keep up where they were in the grand batlle. The films last act was focused on just the humans.

That was pretty weird. It wouldn't suprise me if a ton was taken out. Oh well.

Yeah, now Im trying to think what happened. Lotta crazy **** goen on. Im pretty sure that whole situation was not set up by the autobots though.

She may have pissed off the Beard but they didn't have to give Sam a new girlfriend.

Recast the damn part so Sam's emotional through-line with his female counterpart works with what was set up in the first two films.

That's never more evident than the last part of the film where Bumblebee throws out the idea of marriage to Sam. That line of thought totally makes sense for the Sam and Mikaela storyline we've been following for two films.

It doesn't work here.

Also, Prime says that they've been on this planet for a year. Um, no. Sam graduates from high school and college as this film begins. Last I looked, it takes a little longer than a year to do that. And Sam's no genius.

And I can't forget the second film when this film blatantly references the second film through and through.

I mean, Christ, the action and tone from the moment Sentinel Prime turns to the end of the picture is absolutely money. That's where the stakes should be. But, it's wrapped around a plot that doesn't make sense with what came before it.

I will say this though, I did find it pretty comical when:

Optimus was hanging upside down, tied up for what seemed to be forever. :woot:

I was like, seriously? You're friends are down there dying and you're STILL UP THERE? You do realize you have blades that come out of your forearms, right? Cut your *** down and get in the fight!!

:o

New chick was cool. She didnt bother me. Loved the tracking ass shot.:awesome:

I don't know everything there is to know about Transformers; but I'm guessing that out of all the different incarnations, these movies are the only ones to have the humans be more center stage.

When that shot came up, I said outloud: "Yup. DEFINITELY BETTER THAN MEGAN FOX." :woot:

Dude that was one of the worst parts of the flick for me. WTF Prime.
Seems they just wanted to give Sam and co. Some time without autobots around to save the day. So they suspend Prime in wires.

Yup thats my biggest complaint with these films. Thought the first one did a good job balancing though.

It would've been worse to recast.

It worked for TDK because Rachel was a pretty dull and uninteresting character to begin with.

Fox...while not all that interesting, had a place. And yes, they should've had something...but there wasnt a whole lot they could do. Sure, in an ideal world, I would've liked Fox to come back...and die I guess, if she had to, but she was fired.

I thought Sam's arc worked in this...he really grew as a character. It's not the best development in the world, but it was enough. I just cared for them. Carly, Epps, Lennox...why? Because...they're like old buddies. I met them 5 years ago, and I enjoy meeting them every two years. That's the only way I can describe it. It's not so much character development....but just...character familiarity....

Also, added to the fact the stakes were pretty high...it was kinda cool.

So, how did he finally get down?

I still think the Bumblebee/Sam stuff has a lot of heart. Everytime those two were on screen, I couldnt help but feel something. Especially when they "left".

I felt it. I knew obviously that they were hiding or some ****, that they didnt die...but I thought what if....and I still felt it.

Maybe i'm just forcing it, but I do care about these characters. :o
