Official Flash Thread!!!

I don't give a crap about any of them and, honestly, can barely tell the difference between then when they where the Flash costume. I just like the idea of someone who runs fast. I like his character while in a team or event setting, but I've never given his title a chance. I think I might pick up the next issue for that reason since it's a new arc.

I think it has some of the best art out there right now

See I always gotta be of the differing opinion cuz I find the art kinda kiddy and goofy. The pacing and sense of motion is top notch but I prefer the vibrant more detailed work.

That's honestly how the general "non Flash die hard" public feels about the character too.

Flash = "funny guy who runs fast" to them. And truthfully, in every incarnation, that's who he has been to one extent or another. A sort of "everyman". Barry Allen and Wally West are not that different from each other. In fact, the last 10 or so years toward the end of Wally's run he practically was Barry Allen in all but name only. Then they tried doing the same with Bart.

I think they just need to pick one and stick with him. And I hope it's Barry Allen because he is my favorite, but also because he makes the most sense from a marketing and logical standpoint in that he is the most self contained of the Flashes and his story does not rely on that of a previously existing Flash or his mythology in order to have his story told. Everything in the modern Flash universe as people think of him (not talking about Jay because, let's face it - nobody thinks of a maskless guy who wears a World War 1 helmet, blue, and buccaneer boots as The Flash. At all - besides, there's no "lightning" in Jay's story unless you count the upside down Shazam symbol he wears. The Flash and lightning are practically synonymous), it all trickles down from Barry Allen.

:word:

It just makes sense.

The thing I've always liked about the Flash is the legacy aspect. I don't mind Barry being around, but why can't we have it be like it was in Flash: Rebirth? That was awesome!

The new 52 did away with all of that awesome. While I enjoy Earth 2 I wish Jay was still part of the legacy, along with Bart who I don't even know about anymore. Who is he? Is he related to Barry? It's a mess...

Bart's the same thing he was before. Just Kid Flash instead of Impulse.

Is he still Barry and Iris' grandson, or just Barry's?

Least I'm not the only person who liked Flash: Rebirth. I dunno what it is about Flash honestly, I love the character. Granted I've read more Barry stuff than Wally but I don't really care either way, I just want a good story with good characters. The only thing I kinda dislike about Flash is his Rogues Gallery. Even though he has a massive one it's just all kinda goofy two bit criminals. The characterization is usually weak and paper thin with his villains. Reverse-Flash and The Top (sort of) are two of the only exceptions I can think of that I've actually read who had interesting stories. Hopefully this new Reverse-Flash will be something great, I assume it's Thawne as well

And I can't stand Grodd. Why the **** is a damn gorilla one of Flash's biggest villains?? Makes no damn sense! I'll never understand that ****. I get Grodd's story but come on, he's a damn gorilla and while that stuff is fun and cool in it's own right just wtf do gorillas have to do with super-speed?? It's fun and I loved this past arc but why gorillas?? That's all I'm saying, I'll never understand it

@Eklypze, I would highly recommend reading Final Crisis: Rogues Revenge. I used to feel the same as you about Flash's Rogues, but that story really changed my opinion of them.

Not sure they delved that far, I don't read Teen Titans. But I don't see why he wouldn't be.

I've been reading it, but there have only been random hints. I didn't read the Kid Flash DC universe presents issue though, so maybe there was something in there.

Rogue's Revenge was awesome

I love the Rogues. They have personality.

Thoughts? I actually think he looks pretty badass. And hey, they kept the color scheme. I could see this doing well in a movie, although it will take some adjusting from the old look for me. Not bad.

The lines coming off of him seem weird. But I like the design overall

I totally dig that design. He looks exceptionally badass

Interesting development with the new Reverse Flash identity this issue.
I really thought it was going to be Dr. Elias. Especially since he's been set up to become a Zoom like character the entire series so far. So it was a real curveball when it wasn't him and apparently somebody else.

Surprised me too!

I assumed that it would be him as the new Reverse Flash as well...wonder just who it will be in the costume

What is it with DC and red and black color schemes?

I think it's going to end up being

Daniel West somehow.

Heh my instincts were right. I wonder about the origin. Oh and it still seems like Dr. Elias could indeed become a new version of Zoom somewhere down the line.
