Thanks. ^^ I wrote what I think should happen to all the characters in X4 in that "X-Men 4 Possibilities" thread, if you're interested. I've been working on a script for a few months now (although I'm in the process of giving it a pretty decent re-vamping, so it's not gonna be posted on this site for a while, lol).

Have you ever acted professionally? Any pics? If you haven't already seen the video of Loic Gisselere in this thread, you should check it out. I wish I could be in the X-films but I'm not a contender because I'm not a known professional and I haven't even acted professionally yet. Maybe someday I could. I think it would be fun to play Gambit's ex-wife, Bella Donna, because I have blue eyes and blonde hair just like her. I wish I could play Rogue, but I'm blonde and an unknown. But my name's Anna too. It's not fair.

Na, I've been stage-acting for a while for schools. I never had any training before my senior year of high school, but my director [who was a Teacher of the Year nominee] told me I have a high level of natural talent, and I've always had good roles.

As for my age, I'm 18, and as for my pic...

I hate doing this, but since it's relevant to the subject [I know I don't completely look like him, but with a bit of makeup I feel it could be pulled off]:

Sorry, doesn't do it for me. You could play one of the Thieves Guild though. Isaac from Heroes might be good for Gambit, though the unknown Loic Gisselere would be great. I haven't really seen an actor who 100% equals Gambit for me, other than John Corbett when I was 12.

Not that I'm defending myself, or even considering trying out for Gambit should the part be open in the future, but what most people fail to realize is directors and casting directors don't typically look for who looks most like the character.

If they look like the character, that's simply an added bonus. Take Gail from Sin City for example. Gail's white in the comic books, but her sassy attitude and dominatrix style were pulled off incredibly well by Rosario Dawson, who is actually black.

She's still doesn't look much like Gail, which was my point.

Also, take Brandon Routh and Christian Bale for example.

Bale is Welsh, not a very large guy, and doesn't exactly look like Bruce Wayne's original portrayl [large chest, broad shoulders, huge jaw]. Routh isn't very large either. Hell, Cillian Murphy was originally going to be cast as Bruce.

Also with Eddie Brock. Topher Grace looks nothing like Eddie.

It comes down to talent, so start looking more at who could play the "scoundrel" well... Someone reminiscent or Harrison Ford's Han Solo portrayl.

I'm not even arguing in my defense, I'm just telling you guys... That's now how it's cast... You might want to look deeper than how a guy looks.

but even if you could act like gambit, you still wouldn't make a believable version because of how much you don't look like him.

And you're still failing to realize that I'm NOT defending myself over this, as I'm not even looking into future sequels to try out for. I'm still in college, and I'm working on stage acting.

I wasn't defending myself as a possible potrayer of Gambit.

Although, I'd hardly say I'm "defending" myself when I simply state that, "You don't look for appearance only when you cast for roles."

i know that it's not just appearance, i'm saying that sometimes the person looks so different from the character that no matter how well they act, it still isn't believable.

and that... is something you can't seem to understand.

Usually, it's the children who can't get past looks. The first production I was in was Seussical the Musical, a musical based on Dr. Seuss books.

For the Cat in the Hat, we had a mixed female playing the part, and not a single bit of make-up to make her look like a cat. Obviously, the Cat in the Hat is a cat, and is a male. Yet her performance took it past the looks, and people were drawn into the world we created on stage.

Same thing with movies. You can look completely different, so long as the talent is there.

(otherwise we wouldn't have Anna playing Rogue, Famke playing Jean, Halle playing Storm, Ian playing Magneto and Hugh playing Logan). But I think you're just too young. I'd rip my hair apart if Gambit was 20 in the movies. Anna, who's still young for Rogue, is already 24.

I'm totally with you on that, as I know full-well I probably wouldn't be chosen for Gambit [I'm 18, btw]. When I said, "Vote me in!" I was kidding, as I have no professional experience whatsoever, and I'm still doing stage acting. Although from what I've heard so far, I'm a good actor, but I still don't think Gambit would be a lock for me.

However, what aaron is saying is completely superficially based, and that's what I was calling out. Apperances only come into play when you're locked between choosing two outstanding actors, and once you're actually on set and it's make-up time.

amazing actor but he doesn't look a thing like him and as sad as it may be, some roles are judged more on the physical side of things.
