halle and anna are the same height. and some of the guys suggested to play gambit are models, maybe halle can teach him something. He does have the look. its the accent i think everyone is worried about, yah got a lot of guys who look like the rajun cajun, but i dont think alot of them can pull the accent of a hundred percent.

I'm not bothered about a Cajun accent. The Cajun culture is not widely known outside the USA. The only Cajun accent I've ever seen was in an episode of Queer as Folk, and my friends watching it with me thought the guy was putting on a funny voice.

Not to sound insulting, but the Cajun culture is not widely known, and the previous X-movies have not given Pyro an Aussie accent or Colossus a Russian accent. Storm's Egyptian/Kenyan accent faded away, and Rogue's southern accent has come and gone. McKellen's Magneto doesn't have a Polish accent either (i actually prefer the Magneto accent from the cartoons but was quite prepared to forget about it in the movies).

So, what's with the obsession over an accent?

I have to agree. The accent doesn't make the character (Magneto in the movies, for example, is still a popular, commanding figure). I think it's the actor's presence that's most important in this case.

I wish they would have kept the Kenyan accent on Storm. So what if Halle was bad at it? Get her better training, and if she still can't do it right, at least it's better than turning Storm into nothing more than a white-haired Halle.

I'm glad that Rogue's southern accent wasn't overwhelming, but I would have liked her to have kept a little of it, and not lapse in and out like she did.

I'm glad that Magneto had the voice he did. Ian McKellan was perfect in every way.

I'm glad Pyro didn't have an Australian accent. That way, he's more of a regular "troubled teen" that Americans (the prime target audience) can identify with.

Colossus, I really don't care. No accent is fine with me. After all, shouldn't the majority of the students at the Xavier Institute be Americans, since it's an American school?

Gambit, I would like to see with an Accent. His Cajun roots are just too important.

His cajun heritage is one of his trademarks. The accent represents that. I wouldn't really mind if he didn't have an cajun accent but i'd like te hear him say "mon ami'" "chere" and "mon dieu".

Although, it would sound weird if he said that and didn't have an accent. He should have an accent, hence his slipping in and out of French (and all the other languages within the Cajun dialect).

Some would argue that Colossus' Russian roots are just as important... Though I tend to agree that as a whole on fanboys got overly upset about the lack of his accent.

To be fair... Storm is implied to be a former "student" at the school, and she wasn't from the States. I'm not really sure why they didn't get someone that could do a Russian accent for Colossus.

Hmm...now I'll admit, I'd not thought of him,but I do like the idea!!

Majik...each has their different taste!As long as we might get Gambit in X4-and as long as he is a hot Gambit, because, let's face it, how can Gambit be anything BUT hot, non?-we can all die of immense swooning then!

Personally I'm alright with the idea of an unknown filling the role. If we ever had a big-name, fans would just jump at the studios (saying he's all wrong, etc).

In a sense, I agree. I don't want any huge star. I don't want a complete unknown, though. I want somebody whose name and face is out there, but that plenty of people still don't know. The only reason I know of Ian Somerhalder is because somebody suggested him to play Gambit. I did a search on him to find a picture, and learned more about him from there.

Dave Annable, i dont know if he can do the cajun accent all that well, but he's a good actor,well known (but not overly famous), and his looks dont hurt either.

Eh, he's not really special-looking enough. His looks don't hurt like you said, but there's nothing in his looks to make him stand out from the average Abercrombie & Fitch model, and I don't want Gambit looking like an Abercrombie & Fitch model
