Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

Oh right,he should make I mean he is like the most wanted character and fox have been promising him for the last two yrs-fox need to deliver.

2 years? Try the last 5 years. They've been saying they wanted to add Gambit since X1 was just released.

As for the Wizard mag, Gambit just had a couple of mentions about him playing a small role in X3, and how he's in the latest script (which might be 2 months old now) For Gambit to be confirmed in the movie, he has to be cast....if so, we'll find that out in August or maybe September (I'm predicting)

Ok, here it is. The Friday before principle filming is set to begin. How much news do you all think we will get today? If any? I know it is unlikely that we will get much over the weekend (but you never know), but I have a feeling we will be getting some last minute news today. Last minute casting news (unless they want to keep things secret), last minute blurbs on the remaining crew, last minute special make-up effects and special effects companies signed on, etc.

Let's see if they give us some Gambit casting news today. And I wouldn't mind hearing a bit from Brett Ratner either. We haven't heard much from him since he signed on.

How up to date is Wizard? I'm just curious on whether or not this is a newer development or just a delayed older one.

Wizard is usually just full of hot air.
They're as reliable as the infamous Sun paper, from the UK.

Thanks for the info, cause for a sec when reading some of those excerpts it sounds like they got a lot of their info from the aicn script review.

I like Wizard...unless there's a better comic book based magazine out there...

I agree. I wouldn't be so negative on their info regarding X3. They tend to have a lot of sources out in Hollywood. Plus, they are the most prominent comic-book magazine out there and no one gets exclusives on comic-book creators and artists like them.

Since Wizard is so prominent I don't believe that they could just publish a bunch of stuff that isn't true.

Wizard may be excellent for comics info, but not movies.
They have a nasty habit of pasting headlines like "GET THE INSIDE SCOOP ON FANTASTIC FOUR" on their covers and then have nothing but rehashed/old news combined with some character desings on the inside. Remember when they did such an expose on the F4 some time ago? They had character designs done by Steve Skroce as if they were for the film, but in reality it was designs they had commisioned him to do as if he was involved in the production...
They do that sort of stuff all the time.

(Watches as 'fanboys' attack the notion of Johnny Depp as Gambit)

I have an open mind..Johnhy would be a good Gambit. People always use the argument that he's too old. Is it me, or does he still look as he's in his early 30s? So he could work, but the problem is that Rogue in the movies is portrayed as a younger character. Unless they want that angle, then it won't work.

I'm a strong believer in giving new talent a chance to shine, especially in an ensemble film were you don't need to have a huge star hugging all the glory.

What i said was a big "What if". I would rather see a new talent as well.

Johnny is too old but the primary "argument" against it is reality. The fact that no person that saught and powerful a commodity is going to do as tiny a part as Gambit. Not even if they made him the singular lead in another movie. He's an A+ lister, not a niche fame character actor or young up and cummer.

See my reasons for Depp as Gambit are from his role in Pirates of the Carribean. The attitude in that film is good for gambit sorta a baddish good guy. I can see him doing little card tricks he already has that down when he's flipping the coin in POTC. And I bet he could pull of the accent.

whatever your reasons it does not compute with reality of how ridiculous the notion of as big and exlusive a star as him doing such a small part.

 Agreed

Butt lay off the guy, he got the point and it was just a "what if". I'm pretty sure Marvelman knows that a big star like Depp will never do a bit role like that. You took his comments way too seriously, at least it came off like that, and you didn't mean it.

i honestly think the best "name" actor u can get for gambit is jared leto. He is an undoubtedly amazing actor capable of so many thing, do u honestly think hed be sweating about putting on a cajun accent? so many actors can do it. It is required , they are professionals. Yes, hed be able to do it, flawlessly.

Second, he has the look physcially from his reddish brown hair and pretty boy good looks down to his lean and while maybe not the tallest guy hes definetely not short height.

So far acting talent? check. The look? check. Whats left? Oh yeah! budget... Jared Leto is not yet a household name though he does have his following. and he would be easy for them to get a hold of.

Fourth, he is not above doing anything right now hes not an extremely picky actor and i cant see him as some1 who objects to something like this. My last question would be ok even if he has all this would he simply feel right? Even if budget wasnt a conscern which it most likely wouldnt be too bad would he fit into the cast? This is an often overlooked question it seems, but i feel like he does a fair amount of character work and without a doubt is not too big of a name to fit into a team movie like this.

i dont see any1 who fits all these requirements better tho i no therr arent too many Leto fans on here.

OMg, i never thought about Leto. He would be damn awesome. No question about that..

i would be happy with the following people as gambit...

ian somerhalder (my top choice)
jared leto
drew fuller
ryan carnes (with his blond hair dyed brown)

i dont mind stephen dorff, i just think he would look too old next to anna

Everything I hear about Leto is that he's a real @$$hole. But don't believe it if you want, I know it's just hearsay.

I don't think he really looks like Gambit other than often having long brown hair and being not shaven but not having a full beard. But 90 percent of actors can adopt those 2 attributes at any point they want, naturally or through artificial means.

You want someone who naturally posesses the more rare attributes that hair and makeup people can't give you.
