Sequels Official Gambit Casting/Speculation Thread [merged-6]

well considering gambit is rumored to be in the wolvie spin off... if the part he's in is flashback, then he better be pretty young... and im talking a kid... ill be upset if they make him his regular age decades before X-men 1

I never thought about Kevin Zegers...he might work!?

In case you haven't noticed, the they're not teenagers anymore. The X-kids are all growed up now. ;) There should be some sort of love angle in the movie, although I agree that it shouldn't be the main story.

If you think everyone is suddenly going to act like mature, rational adults just because the characters aren't 15 years old, you're going to be in for a very big surprise. Even moreso when they get to the inevitable love-triangle.

No, he really doesn't

No offense, I love Gambit, but the most interesting thing about him is his romance with Rogue, because of both their pasts and how they deal with it.

You really think so? Not his personality? Not his powers? Not his thieving ways and the guilds? Didn't you like gambit before he and Rogue got together?
I don't hate his romance with Rogue but for me that is the least interesting aspect Gambit. They can do so much with his character they shouldn't just make him Rogue's toyboy. His personality alone should be enough to let him shine in a X-4 let alone his powers.

His personality, and theiving ways/guild weren't really interesting until he had someone(Rogue) react to them. As for his powers, there are more interesting powers with other characters of the X-Men.

I think Gambit was already very interesting before he and Rogue got together. And i'm not saying he has the best powers but the ability to blow stuff up is very cool in my book.

What does everyone think about
Bailey Chase
playing Gambit? It's not comfirm yet, but according to Sunday Star Times there's a strong indication he will play Gambit in the Wolverine's Origin movie coming out in 2009. So if he does play Gambit, he would more likely be the one appearing in X4.

He is also in negotiations for a part in the Hugh Jackman movie Wolverine, which will be filmed in New Zealand.

"It's very confidential and top-secret. I think they're casting under alias names but for now, he's called Mr Yellow.
"He's about 30 years old, a charming southern guy on the surface but he's got some ulterior motives going on underneath. By the end of the film, he's probably not going to be such a nice guy."

Hope they have more people to choose from. He doesnt look a bit like Gambit.

He looks... interesting. He's not ugly, he just seems to me to have nordic features which is something I never associated with the character. Then again all superheroes seem to be members of the arian race these days :). I never wanted Gambit to be drop dead gorgeus, but a healthy tan is a must. He's a bit old at 35, not that I have a problem with that but if they do cast him as Gambit it probably means they're definetly not touching the Rogue backstory. Oh, and he starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a definite plus!

This whole Mr Yellow thing reminds me of Reservoir Dogs. :)

I just realised, he actually reminds me more of Cannonball than he does of Gambit. And Cannonball WAS from the South. But then again he was never a bad guy as far as I know. And his powers are a little screwey for a movie.

...Please no... That guy looks nothing like Gambit. I see what you mean about Cannonball, though. Forgive my comic book ignorance, but what are his powers?

Sam "Cannonball" Guthrie can fly and becomes invulnerable when he does. So in effect, he becomes a human cannonball.

I see what you mean. It doesn't make too much sense for someone of Cajun descent to have strong Nordic or Germanic features. Cajun is mostly French with bits of Spanish and Native American thrown in. Possibly some English too, but I can't say for certain.

I remember when that rumour abou Jonathan I get a bit exited, I find him a good actor, but he hasn't the exact look I'd want, besides he is too much known right now...

I thought long ago, and still feel this way, that IF a fourth X-men movie comes, obviously Gambit should be in it, as I felt he should have in the first trilogy anyway. I think they should do Inferno for the next installment, which would be perfect for Gambit as he has history with Sinister. Anyway.. for casting, I always felt that James Marsters who played Spike on "Buffy" was the perfect casting, I know hes old, but when he was Spike, he looked young enough, and make up works wonders ya know?

Really? I thought Marsters was better for Quicksilver (although I still prefer casting Neve and Christian Campbell to play Wanda and Pietro Maximoff). We already have James Marsden - should we also have James Marsters in the cast? :oldrazz:

Why not? Gambit and Cyke are practically twins in the comics.

To all,

Shane Taylor is a pretty unknown actor from England. He was in the HBO mini-series Band of
Brothers! His character name was medic Eugene Roe. (Most notible episode was 6) Anyway Gambit has always been my favorite X-man and I think Shane would be an excelent and probaly cheap fit for FOX. Which in turns opens up more money for other actors in the movie! I think he pulls off the Cajin accent preety well. Let me know what you think if you've seen the series. If not download the episode and watch it. Stephen Dorf, Keanu Reeves, WTF!!!! Come on people!
