In other news, on the back page of #20, Marvel have published The Invincible Iron Man Reading Chronology, the guide to the essential reading of this current era of Iron Man. Here's what is included in the list:

1. Extremis
2. Civil War
3. Civil War: Iron Man
4. Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
5. World War Hulk
6. Haunted
7. The Five Nightmares
8. With Iron Hands
9. Secret Invasion
10. World's Most Wanted, Volume 1
11. World's Most Wanted, Volume 2

Interesting that they left Execute Program off the list (especially since it's also been put out of print - what's wrong with this book?), but I think I'll use this as a guide for some Iron Man catch-up reading over Christmas.

Out of this list, I already own Extremis, Civil War and The Five Nightmares, and have World's Most Wanted in single issues. I'm dubious about picking up World War Hulk and Secret Invasion, and haven't really heard much about With Iron Hands. So I think I'll start by picking up Civil War: Iron Man, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Haunted from Amazon.

I'm currently reading Iron Man volume 4 and I'll soon reach the Secret Invasion story arc. Other than Secret Invasion: War Machine, is there any other Secret Invasion tie-ins that are required readings for fans of Iron Man/War Machine?

Also, in the eventuality that I like the event, is there any non-Iron Man related Secret Invasion tie-ins that are worth reading?

That's a badass cover.

So, does anyone else suspect that Tony's gonna be wearing the movie armor when he's restored by the end of "Stark Disassembled"? He's about due for an armor change, and I imagine Marvel would like to have things in line with the movies, which might potentially draw in new readers.

Zircher's a total badass. I got the Thor/Tony variant for this week's issue and just stared at it for a while. :)

I don't think he's opened it.... It sounds like he's making love to the cover. :(

I went for the Larroca cover instead. I just love the design of the new trade dress, it makes the book look like a scientific journal.

All i wanna see is Steve smack Tony in the face and say "thanks for getting me killed *******."

As far as Steve will be concerned. He got shot, went on a time travel adventure and wakes up in time to kick the red skulls ass. Hell if we wanna get technical he didn't even die in the first place.

What did you think of the issue?
It was an interesting start. A bit slow and talky for my tastes (the page after endless page of Tony just talking at the reader got a bit annoying after a while), but it did its job to set everything up and I expect the next few issues will move things along more quickly. I liked that Bucky and Don both had absolutely no hesitation in bringing Tony back, too. Larroca's art still looks a bit awkward to me, but it was only really bad on Bucky in this issue. Good start all around.

I made love to the whole issue.

Stark: Disassembled Cover Gallery

With the World's Most Wanted becoming the World's Most Shattered, it's up to the very heart and soul of the Marvel Universe to return Tony Stark to his former glory. Now that his life and legacy is in shambles, Iron Man must win a battle for his very consciousness—but does he even want to? Writer Matt Fraction and artist Salvador Larroca take Tony Stark to dark places as the series surges ahead.
And with the bold, new direction for Stark and crew in "Stark: Disassembled," the creative minds behind the Esiner Award-winning title for Best New Series have crafted a host of spectacular new covers. Split evenly, each issue of "Stark: Disassembled" features a cover by Salvador Larroca and Rian Hughes, along with a cover by Patrick Zircher. We're pleased to debut several new covers here on Marvel.com!
Enjoy the beautiful art and stay glued to Marvel.com for more on "Stark: Disassembled"!

Zircher's cover looks better on practically every issue. Pretty designs are all well and good, but I'll take a full-page spread that actually has something to do with the content by an artist of Zircher's caliber any day.

Zircher's art was the best Iron Man I've seen before on the last Iron Man book before this one. I miss that whole run, even when the first 6 issues took, like, over a year and a half to come out.

I actually found it pretty difficult choosing what cover to take for Invincible Iron Man #20, and I'm not usually one to agonise over something like that. Zircher's cover art is spectacular, and I've saved a nice hi-res image of each one he's done for Stark Disassembled. But I dunno.... there's something about the Larroca covers that I just love. They have a simple yet iconic feel to them, and the stark visuals (no pun intended!) just really pop and make the book look unlike anything else out there. I ended up going for the Larroca cover instead.

Though the Five Nightmares arc made it seem like a rather different book from the Ellis/Knaufs/Moore run on Iron Man, I think with World's Most Wanted Matt Fraction established Invincible Iron Man as very much its spiritual successor, and the latest part in the overarching saga Ellis began with Extremis.

Is this the Mark I armor or Iron Monger?

Well bare in mind the Mark I armour was basically a large peice of crap made in a cave, and the Iron Monger is a cleaned up large ****ed up techno version of it. In the live action movie the Iron Monger is more curved and well built, were as the Mark I only just had the time to start working as it was a bit rushed, so as you can see in that picture there's wires hanging out and it's not curved much so that suggests me thinking it's the Mark I.

Thing is, the only argument against it is that the eyes are glowing and there's red and black colours to the right which in my opinion suggests evil.

I vote Mark I! :yay:

Yeah, it was the evil, ominous look that made me think Iron Monger, but Mark I is more likely.

Mark I. It looks like it's a combination of the comic and movie armor. The dead give away is the electrical outlets that Tony used to power the suit back in the day.

Does anyone like this Iron Man themed signature I made a few weeks ago for another forum?
