Official JLA discussion thread - Part 3

What did you guys think of the end of Throne of Atlantis and the first issue of JLA?

a narrative is finally forming

going forward, johns' new habit of chaining events endlessly should work better for justice league than it was working for green lantern

the idea of a writer handling two or more books in one line is nice too, with fialkov taking up green lantern corps and red lanterns it's something we want more of

Justice League and JLA were both fantastic this week.

Both are clearing going to have ramifications that spread throughout the DCU.

I'm excited for the next issues and can't wait to see what happens.

I felt bad for Orm too. In his position i would have attacked as well. Its weird seeing them talk about
recruiting what appears to be villains.
We will see how it goes though. In Johns i have faith.

Throne of Atlantis was just okay. Orm's sudden surrender rang hollow.

JLA wasn't bad, though the "match-up" with Katana and Wonder Woman makes zero sense.

They weren't. That scene involved 3 different groups of people at 3 different locations: JL, JLA, and a villain team.

See I was thinking the Catwoman/Batman match was the weakest of the bunch. At least Katana has a magic sword. Green Arrow/Batman would be a better fit. Overall though, I'm looking forward to reading more of this series. Not only that, it actually has me interested in JL, which has felt rushed since the beginning.

Frankly, I'll read anything with the Martian in it. Also, glad to see some self-sacrifice from Arrow. I'm ready for Oliver's return to glory.

I went back and re read it. I'm an idiot

Yea I wanna see Ollie really step up plus, I want more info on what really happened with the team and J'onn. I have to say, after so many years with (mostly cartoon form) of getting used to seeing the JL with so many members and with ones like J'onn, Hawkman etc they never really felt like such strong characters like the big 6 plus Cyborg. Gotta say, I REALLY dig what's been done with Vic as well. Love his role with the league plus just his entire story with his whole "am I still human?" schtick. Really looking forward to seeing where all this is going

so I just read the new JLA, and already, Stargirl is way more likeable and karadorable than 52 Supergirl.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. They clearly know WW is on Superman's power level.

I don't read any Catwoman. Was this the first time she had TDKR-style blade heels?

I think it should be:

Baz vs Cyborg
Stargirl vs Hal
Hawkman vs WW
Katana vs Aquaman

Then she'd be over powered by Aquaman....

How about Stargirl and Katana versus either Aquaman or WW?

Cuz even then, either one of em could take both of them at the same time. :o

Depends on the location, and her fighting skills are better than Aquaman.

Are they fighting in the desert.....after 2 days wandering around without food or water?

Then I don't think it much matters. She has to do a hell of a lot more to take him out, than it would take him to take her out. Ant < Boot.

Plus he has a trident now. Tridents are better than swords because they have more points.

Not really. She just has to cut him and not get hit. We've seen the Trench pierce him through his armor and those were thoughtless creatures. The world's top assassin could do better than that. Fighting skills go a long way.

Only when the story allows it. Faster, Stronger, winner. Baring some boos**t McGuffin or general fan wankery, that's all you need. Like Deathstroke beating the JLA in seconds.

Faster, Stronger = winner? lol, tell that to all the Batman fans. Smarter and more skilled are better factors.

It's all stories. They do say either Katana or Deathstroke is the most deadliest assassin. Fighting skills matter.

Which is boos**t. They can't take down Superman, unless oh noes, Deathstroke studied Kryptonian pressure points so now he could take him out.

And don't even get me started on Batfans. Those *****e bags are more irrational than Hulk fans.

Besides. Katana sucks. Always has. New Universe be damned. :o

Yeah, let's just pretend Aquaman has always been a cool, popular character.
