Mysti, Let me just throw something at you. Tell me if you think it's proper grounds to critique something, or if it's just bigotry. It's not that i dont like heterosexuals Llama...
"It's not that I don't like homosexuals. I have nothing against people who are homosexual either real or fictional. I think everyone should do whatever feels right for them and as long as its all between consenting adults I dont think any kind of sexual orientation or activity is bad or wrong. Whether someone is straight, LGBT, asexual or whatever as long as their happy that's the only thing that matters.
I'd certainly never hate someone for their sexuality. I know how that feels and its horrible.
But in fiction I just don't care about gay characters. I don't feel any emotional connection to them. I don't hate them; there are plenty of gay characters i like. But I don't really care about them. It's only the straight characters at DC who I really care what happens to them. As a straight comic book fan they're the characters that really mean something to me
And gay romances in fiction just bore me. A guy hooking up with a guy is just utterly tedious to me and I don't really care whether they fall in love or not. I have no interest in reading about gay romances at all. Straight romances in fiction are the only romances that I find interesting or care about."
Now, I absolutely understand your point of view. I really do, and I agree that there should be more characters who are gay general comicdom. But that's not a reason to dismiss everything. Straight romances are more boring that gay romances because...why? What's the difference? It's two people who love each other. This is a two-way street.
