Official JLA discussion thread - Part 3

If you were dating a man who dresses a dog in a mask and cape you would need to drink too HighFivingMF :ninja:

That's a different character though

There have been two Batwoman's (Batwomen?) in the DCU just like there have been four Batgirl's :)

The silver age one Kathy Kane. She was straight and she really sucked. And she's dead thankfully. Pretty much no interest in her at all though some of the stories featuring her wrre unintentionally hillarious in their silver age insanity.

And the modern one Kate Kane who has always been and will always be a lesbian. She was created as a lesbian character and has been an openly lesbian heroine from her first appearance onwards. She's :awesome: sauce and she's my absolute favourite DC character :atp:

If she was meant to be a different character and not a re-imagining of an old character, why give her such a similar name? I mean, saying she's a different character is about the same as having the Robin after Dick Grayson be named Richie Grayson.

Don't know but she's not the same character

We saw the silver age Batwoman in a flashback in Batman Inc and she's a totally different character to the modern Kate Kane

I get what Lead C is trying to say. Jason Todd from Post-Crisis was a remaining of the Jay from Pre-Crisis, same character, slight differences.

Both Batwomen have the same name (Katherine Kane) and alter ego (Batwoman). So confusion is bound to occur.

They dont have the same name though :)

The boring dead silver age one is called Kathy

The :awesome: living modern one is called Kate :)

And their both very different characters. Apart from sharing a last name they dont really have anything else in common apart from their superhero identity. They're as different as Cass Cain is to Steph despite both having been Batgirl

Speaking of which was it ever said if Kathy Kane is related to Kate or if its another family with the Kane name

Kathy married into the Kane family according to Grant Morrison, since the Kane family is Martha Wayne's family and if she was part of that family by blood, then Batman would have been sleeping with his cousin.

I guess the bigger question is if the Colonel is related to Martha Kane Wayne in any way, and therefore is Kate related to Batman? I think they need to clarify this to be honest. The Kanes of the Kane Chemical Company (Martha's family) were Irish-Catholic, but Kate Kane is Jewish, so maybe her family had Anglicized their name like how Bob Kane in real life changed his name from Kahn to Kane. Probably Jacob's father or grandfather had done that, maybe even using the Kane name because of the respect the Kane family had in Gotham-like the Waynes, they had been a major Gotham family for generations.

Maybe Kate is Jewish on her mother's side, and Irish/Catholic on her father's side. I mean, that would explain the red hair.

Also, Kane Wayne is fun to say.

Now that I think about it, they have to be related-because of Betty Kane. She's Kathy's niece and she's Kate's cousin. So they are related somehow. Ergo, Kate is related to Bruce-probably a second cousin or something.

Kate's family is pretty much the most :awesome: family ever in that case

Not only is there Kate herself who is bad ass and amazing there's also her mom and dad who are fab her cousin Bette who's really brave and heroic and she's related to Batman

And that means that Cass Cain is also technically part of the family as Bruce adopted her

Best family ever :atp:

So guys who is ready for 2013's Trinity War from DC Comics? Jim Lee's 4 page gatefold shown by this photo!
2hp0e2d.jpg

- Black Adam can be spotted
- Vibe's brand new look and introduction to the new DC 52!
- Brand new Green Lantern, not John Stewart going undercover.
- Shazam is involved with the story
- The Atom is Ryan Choi
- Story focuses on the 3 first original sinners, which includes Pandora, Phantom Strange and a 3rd "mysterious" one.
- The Rock of Eternity is now a council of Wizards, they sentenced the trinity of sin and now they're coming baaack.

Ah Universal battle between good and evil, what more could you want?

Is that Black Adam, or does Captain Marvel have a black costume now?

Really glad that Ryan Choi is alive again :)

Looks like a wrestler LMAO

But yeah I have to say after skimming through #8 at the shop this morning I realized that dropping this title like a bad habit is not something that I regret in the least.
