Looks like Warner Brothers might be picking up the entire tab on this one. They usually only do that with cash cow projects like Harry Potter.

I'd like to know as well. Do you know something, or are you just speculating?

Yea whats up, last thing we known for miller's jla that its sheleved and likely wont happen and if jla does happen its likely to be a totally different movie with different script, cast, director.

You just answered your own question.

The shelved part? or the new director, cast, ect part?
I have no doubt we'll get a J.L. film eventually, just not in the near future.

Batman's also borderline fascist throughout his own comic history. Almost nothing in the movie was not originally rooted in or not done before in the comics.
Apart from the Miller stuff, can you tell me other stories where Batman breaks legs to get informations? Or tortures a criminal in the GCPD precinct?

Yea we will likely not get a jla film to any time after 2011+ unless things are a changing with dc and wb.

I'm not talking about Bale (who btw doesn't have the great body he had in BB), but the characterization of Batman as a remorseless fascist.

Yeah, that's they way he was towards the criminals. That's the way he should be towards the criminals. Did he seem remorseless to Harvey Dent in the hospital? No. Or how about towards Rachel's death? No. Or Gordon's family? No. Just because only Miller had Batman breaking bad guys legs to get info doesn't mean it's out of character for Batman. Batman only has one rule: he doesn't intentionally kill. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight got the character of Batman down to a t.

I would say Anne Thompson probably knows a little bit more then we do. Also, Thomas Tull and Legendary were not involved in George Millers Australian version of JLM, which might not be the same version if we get JL at all. Considering he works closely with WB, I would think he also knows more then we do.
True, but we just don't know what, if anything, they do know. I think Paul Levitz might know more then either of them.
A trademark of Marvel Comics in the 1960s was “the crossover”— when one character would pop up in another hero's title (Spider-Man would meet the Fantastic Four, the Silver Surfer would fly into Thor’s book, etc.) and now they’re doing it with their movies with Nick Fury popping up in “Iron Man” and Tony Stark sauntering into “The Incredible Hulk.”

They are building toward a planned Avengers movie and their longtime rival, DC, has taken note.We heard a few weeks ago that Warner Bros. executives had decided to look at second- and third-tier characters as movie prospects and for opportunities to have them cross paths on screen (although a previously announced Justice League movie has been put on hold after it lost momentum during the writers strike). On Thursday, DC Comics President Paul Levitz smiled when asked if DC characters such as Superman and Batman might finally meet on screen. “Keep watching the movies,” Levitz said. “Keep watching.

”It’s a great season for DC with the massive opening of “The Dark Knight” and the critical reception for the trailer for “Watchmen.” “It’s amazing what Christopher Nolan has done with ‘Dark Knight,’ bringing the character into a realistic world, while Zack Snyder looked at ‘Watchmen’ and said, ‘I think I can create this world,’" he said.

In the past week, DC ordered up a new 200,000-copy print run of the "Watchmen" trade paperback because of a flurry of consumer interest after the trailer. “Its all very exciting,” Levitz said. “A graphic novel went to No. 2 on Amazon because of a movie trailer. That’s not something we’ve seen before.” — Geoff Boucher

Yay! Another cryptic response.

He certainly does know more, he is pointing to a Justice League or Superman/Batman team up. My opininion is that it won't have anything to do with what we previously knew as JLM, but that is just my opinion.

Maybe the 3rd Batman film features Superman? A stretch!

Agreed. What that really shows to me is that Levitz by saying "keep watching the movies" means keep watching the solo movies (Batman, Superman, maybe GL or Flash) because there will be a hint along the way showing that they will all team up eventually.

Not, "keep watching the movies" because in a year we will be filming a JLA movie with completely different actors for Batman and Superman. THR has already reported the idea of an overaching goal in mind with these movies.

We are definately both reading into it, but I agree with you. All we can do is speculate.

No matter what happens, I feel confident that WB/DC finally have some kind of plan in place to go foward with.

That's an understatement. I'd liken it to WW appearing at the end of TDK? I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant.

I'm just tired of trying to decypher these cryptic comments. If they have a plan, why can't they just say what it is? If they're following Marvel's lead, just say so. They don't need to get into specific details.

Let's hope so. No excuse to sit on all those potential films.

I think they're being intentionally cryptic, as a way of saving face - the film comes out, and George Miller or any director of quality is missing from the crew, and they can say "Gotcha!"

Then we have "Justice League of America," from "the guys who brought you 'Meet the Spartans.' "

Me as well. It's like an episode of 24 sometimes.

They already have been, let's hope they stand up.

HA!

In TNBA animated series, he got very rough with a perp in front of the perp's family. It ticked Robin off a great deal and created a rift between them.

Tower of Babel, its revealed he'd been spying and analyzing the weaknesses of all his friends and comrades that are supposed to trust him with their lives. Also the OMACS in Crisis. The Brother Eye spy system. These ideas are arguably fascistic.

In the original Batman stories, Batman used firearms and even killed and/or maimed criminals.

The persona itself is a form of mental torture against criminals. When is doing what he does, thrashing criminals around and beating them almost half to death not torture? That's OK?

Yes the original BM wasn't for kids but he just caught on and they had to kiddie him up........but if you really look at the character, its REALLY hard to do so. It's kind of like kidding up the Punisher. You have to leave out so much of the Bat's history in order to make him kid friendly.

Just saying, these ideas that Batman doesn't torture as well as have some Machiavellan, fascistic tendences in the comics is ridiculous.

Well "Kingdom Come" is listed in Production Weekly?

does this mean anything? I dunno, but the Hype is making a big deal about the X-men First Class...

http://www.productionweekly.com/

Nice find. It certainly is a point of interest.

..."Hercules: The Thracian Wars", "Inglorious Bastards", "Intent", "Kingdom Come", "Knucklehead", "KROD Mandoon And The Flaming Sword Of Fire", "LAPD", "Last Of The Ninth", "Let It Ride", "Lie To Me", "Life On Mars"...

Would be interesting to read the PW details on this. Anyone a subscriber?

It is kind of interesting, but it could be anything. If it is the Kingdom Come we think it could be, I would be geeked for it.
