Of course I would like to see Brandon Routh, Bale and Reynolds in the JL movie, but if one of those roles gets recast I won't cry.

If Routh is used in a rebooted, non-Donner universe, then okay, and we have yet to see what the GL film will be like, so Reynolds is still a valid candidate. As for Bale, read one of the rumored JL:M plot descriptions I've copied below and ask yourself if Nolan's Batman could realistically fit into such a fantastic idea of a movie (or series of movies). Nevermind that the plot description itself isn't likely that of the proposed JL:M movie. The point is that the sci-fi and fantasy aspects of any reasonable JLA movie would run counter to the realistic universe in which Nolan's Batman exists.

max lord and talia al ghul are the black king and black queen for checkmate, the government agency. they have a mutual agenda against caped heroes. talia's reasons for despising super heroes is ambiguous, but there are some vague references to her father and his ideals. max's reasons are far more defined: a couple years ago his fiancee was caught up in a battle between superman and metallo, she lost her life. he's since seen heroes as a plague that need to be exterminated. this is one of the reasons he creates the OMACs. he plans to use them to rid the world of super heroes, since the robots can be the perfect policing unit which can also be controlled by the government and work for their agenda. he is even going head to head against lex luthor for the contract, who has created similar technology. max also plans on using the OMACs for his own personal agenda...believing that checkmate should be running the government, a sort of coup would put him in power. the OMACs will also be using human hosts, the technology takes over the body. max lord plans on using heroes as host bodies to result in stronger OMACs (a superman omac being the big prize). theres even a few scenes planned for early on in the film where OMACs take over b-list DC characters, fun cameos for the fans. at one point in the film, even flash and GL will become OMACs.

the JLA will consist of: superman, batman, wonder woman, flash (wally), green lantern (jon), aquaman, and martian manhunter. there will be a bunch of humor earlier on at their headquarters showing what heroes do when they are bored with no crime to fight. meanwhile, batman is off investigating heroes that have been picked off by OMAC's.

anyways, a group of shape-shifting white martians travel to earth and find max lord, well aware of his status in the government (it would appear white martians have a past with checkmate). they ask for refuge on earth to escape an aggressor who is at war with them. max denies them, knowing they will then invade earth and take refuge anyways (how he knows this and why he wants it will be later revealed). the white martians leave very angry and sure enough make plans to invade earth.

as the martians invade, the heroes come out, and so do max's OMACs. this is max's chance to prove to the government their worth and how much better they are than the super heroes. the fight against the white martian invasion will be the chunk of the film. during this time, the heroes become very aware of max lord, his story, and his agenda. they come into direct conflict, and more is revealed about him. about half way through the film, it will be revealed that max is a shape shifting white martian himself (not even the other martians knew this), but he was banished from the white martian community long ago which is when he traveled to earth. also, he's not only been disguised as max lord infiltrating the american government plotting a take over...but he's also been disguising himself as JLA member martian manhunter! working to infiltrate the heroes, learn their secrets, so he can eventually take them down using the OMACs. enraged at his betrayal, wonder woman snaps his neck, killing him! breaking the league's no killing policy. she stands behind her actions against a very pissed off batman and superman. still fighting the invasion, batman ends up being able to reprogram and take control of the OMACs and they use them to defeat the martian invasion.

but in the last 20-30 minutes of the film, a new threat will arrive. its the agressor that has been at war with the white martians. they have followed them to earth. its darkseid! darkseid and his army finds the white martians defeated and a new challenge in the JLA. the JLA goes to battle with him and his personal cronies, while his army attacks the country. in battle with darkseid himself, superman is killed! now regretting her actions, and recognizing superman's heroism, wonder woman begs her gods to take her life force and spare superman's. her gods comply. wonder woman dies, and superman is revived. he single handedly takes out darkseid. the heroes are overwhelmed by the rest of his army though. lex luthor appears on scene with his tech army (the one he was using to get the government contract against max lord). together they stop the invasion.

Again, can you see Nolan's Batman realistically portrayed in such a movie?

That synopsis is fake. And I can't see Nolan's Batman in a JL movie, but Bale is contractually signed to be Batman in another movie...
And I won't cry if the role is recast.

Let the JL come after Nolan is done with Batman 3 so his Batman and the JL Batman can't be confused and they won't destroy what Nolan has created.

Yes, Nolan's Batman isnt that much different from the comic Batman. A guy in a suit with some fancy gadgets and a hell of a lot of know-how

That sounds like too much villians for one movie. And Superman single handley beats Darkseid? Darkseid is stronger then Superman i think and he single handley beats him? Also Wonder Women dies?

I thought the movie had Flash going up against Checkmate the way Blue Beetle did, with his funeral being the bookends of the script?

Im hoping this film gets made once we have other films like flash and gl and what not. Much like what Marvel is doing in a way. So yeah it might take awhile but atleast by then we will already know who will be playing the characters and know how they play the characters. So hopefully they dont rush into a JL movie, hopefully they wait a few years.

I think everyone will be recasted/replaced by the time they decide to make this film. No Bale, no Routh, no Renolds. And by no Renolds I think they will use Stewart and not Hal to avoid recasting the role.

I think that will turn out to be true. I have to agree with that.

Yea i always wondered why is it such a hard problem for wb/dc to get these characters out there. flash/ww/martian/etc... should have happened within this past decade but they continue to just sit on all the dc stuff. since like others have its not their priority to do comic films.

I believe that THE ONLY way that Bale would want to have a part in a JLA film is if it were Mo-Cap. He'd probably look at MoCap as a challenge and see it as not betraying what he & Nolan had already accomplished. I would imagine that if this was the case WB would most likely keep/re-sign Routh for Superman.

What do think?

How would you guys feel if they left Batman out of a Justice League movie and instead filled his role with Green Arrow, as the only non powered member? So, the movie team would be

Supes, GA, WW, GL, Flash, Aquaman, and Martian manhunter

I couldnt handle that. I'd rather just have it be a 6 man team without GA.

with all the problems it looks to ever get a jl film going i rather just take a dam fully cgi animated film at this rate, since we have no clue what is going to be happening with superman, flash, ww, mm, etc.... characters still cant get off the development grounds and all that.

I feel like the biggest thing is Superman (which no one can agree on) and Batman (whos movie version no one THINKS can be in it) I would almost recommend that the trinity be left out altogether or at least Superman and Batman.

I think Routh is done altogether, and maybe Bale too, soon. WB is done with him, reasoning being letting his contract expire. Yes, they could re-up him at a lower rate; but I think WB is looking to start completly over....GL is the first of the revamped WB. They will probably do the same with Batman once Nolan/Bale finish with his trilogy or Nolan calls it quits.

Superman & Batman are the sticky points. Again there is a way that Nolan's Batman persona could work; I just don't think WB will do it. I think WB wants to go in another direction altogether.

Yea there is just so many issues with wb/dc comics right now and the lack of development with certain key characters. Then the whole superman/batman deal like u guys said. You would want to have supes/bats in a jl film since a good majority of folks know those characters the most and/or loved the past jl animated stuff and would want to have atless the first jl film be with the whole main team. So then later films down the road they could explain the abstance of supes/bats/etc.... characters for others in their place.

Noticed on imdb that D.J. Cotrona has scored his first role since JL got shelved. He's going to be in Lasse Hallström's adaptation of the novel Dear John starring Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried, Scott Porter and Richard Jenkins. Not bad.

And the man who was nearly Batman (Armie Hammer) makes into this month's issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

Also, here's a little bit of trivia to add. The crew were using Panavision's Genesis camera for what ever test shots they were doing in preproduction before the plug was pulled.Director of Photography Dean Semler has used it in the past.
