Official Justice League Status Update Thread

I do not believe asking these forums be folded into DC Films is spam. Sorry.

And I still believe they should. They should've been 7 months ago when the halt first started. I think one of the mods even agreed and said something to the effect of not opening them up until the film is in front of the cameras.

This forum has gotten over 30,000 views on it's own (about as many as Showtime has posts). I am sure that SHH is making some kind of money from the pay-per-click advertising from it and hence have no real incentive to close it. Sorry.

I think Shazam would be an excellent film to be released around the November or December holiday of 2009.

I know from the Justice League cartoon what that's supposed to be, but it looks like some Dr. Light shenanigans are going on in that pic.

They have GL, Supermax and possibly Shazam.

What other non-comic franchises or movies do they have?

I heard they have plenty of New Lines movies, too. That should help them once they get released, right?

Hobbit summer 2010? But I like those December releases better...

As far as Robo tech and 2012 (as Showtime mentioned)... I don't know anything about them, but you have to try something new eventually. Emerich's 2012 sounds like another Day After Tomm. Besides I thought that was due for 2009 so now they are pushing that back a year? Anyhow it doesn't seem too interesting to me.

The discussion has been ongoing amongst the Mods and Admins in regards to closing this section and other sections. However, until the guy that signs our checks tells us to do it, this forum is open. I think when WB announces their upcoming comicbook slate in the next month or so, then we will have the final word. Then we will most likely move what we can over to the DC Films section.

Post envy. :csad:

Is that from MK vs DC? Captain Marvel vs Catwoman?

I'll double check the 2009 vs 2010.

Man, that 2012 sounds like the same damn Emmerich style disaster movie that will probably turn into a DISASTER in itself. Same old concept....lousy....

I think there is a thread on it somewhere. I guess Morrison was interviewed about it and so was Waid?

I know they did a huge proposal with Peyer and someone else to the Superman comic line. They were all rejected.

Could that be it?

Comic-Con: Mike Mignola, Grant Morrison, Matt Fraction and other comics creators convene at EW's Visionaries panel

EW's own Nisha Goplan served as a moderator for the panel consisting of some of the biggest, most creative names in comics today: Jim Lee, John Cassaday, Matt Fraction, Mike Mignola, Robert Kirkman, Colleen Doran, and Grant Morrison. At this kind of event — where news and announcements take a back seat to questions like, "Why do you work in comics?" and "Who inspires you?" — watching these guys interact was half the fun. Whether it was Kirkman needling Morrison about his reading-in-the-bath(tub) habits (Kirkman: "Is that where you wrote Seaguy?") or Morrison asking Doran to go into greater detail about her Aquaman crush (Morrison: "Beard or no beard." Doran: "As long as he's slick.") fans got a chance to experience the personalities behind their favorite books.

Perhaps the most interesting questions had to do with the ways in which recent Hollywood exposure and interest has begun to change the medium itself. Some creators, like Morrison and Fraction, sounded frustrated that many now view comics as merely a stepping stone to film. Fraction pointed out that comics don't need to worry about silly things like physics or reality, so why follow the same cinematic rules? The best question, however, came from the audience: One person asked the panelists who they thought were the up-and-comers to watch; the Luna Bros (Girls), Jonathan Hickman (Nightly News), Jason Aaron (Scalped), and Derek McCulloch (Stagger Lee) were some of the names they offered.

And even though this was not the place for any announcements, a few telling pieces of info did drop:

1. In response to a question about the origin of the infamous six-page splash of the Batcave in All Star Batman and Robin, Jim Lee mentioned that he's working on a similar splash for the Gotham City skyline in a future issue.

2. Speaking of ASBAR, while it was originally planned as an eight-issue miniseries, it will now likely wrap up at 20 issues, Lee mentioned. "See you in five years!" he said.

3. Grant Morrison noted that he pitched a Superman movie last year, but it didn't take.

I wasn't to happy with the way this version was looking anyways. Hated the cast. Hopefully when they try again, they won't pull some B.S. casting.

Hopefully they'll wait until they've made a few key characters solo movies before risking their franchises in one move again.

We can only hope. I don't mind waiting a while longer if it means getting a good J.L. film with the 'RIGHT' cast.

In the mean time, I hope W.B. will finally have the films united in the same universe. I'd love a cameo of Clark in the G.L. film.
Imagine seeing a Diana Prince cameo in a Flash film, or J'onn J'onzz in G.A.

That would be great.

But it's best to take small steps.

WW, Supermax, GL and Flash have to be green lit first.

LOL....The arguments in here in regards to whether this JL forum should be shut down and moved to DC Film section remind of the GhostBusters movie. When the dude with red hair went into GhostBuster headquarters and him and Venkman were arguing back and forth on whether or not to "SHUT IT DOWN".

Hilarious...

GhostBusters is a classic! :hehe:

Heh. shut it down on all the J.L.ers will invade other forums........Oh the agony, THE AG-O-KNEEEEE.

I don't think this WB comic book slate announcement thing is happening anytime soon.

WB is not a comic book company.

Well if the report of what went down during the summit talks is to be revealed in a month or two, we may know what is going to be happening or not.

i think they're going with GL right? in place of JL?
