Official Legion of Super-Heroes Thread

Good article with Kitson at CBR. Has lots of Character sketches and stuff.

I find it kind of fun that Element Lad is described as "our Dr. Fate figure. Or a teenaged Dr. Strange" on the sketch sheet because I remember TheCorpulent1 mentinoning that the costume looked like Dr. Fate's in another thread.

Wow, go me. I had absolutely no idea what I was talking about at the time, either. :D

I thought you'd get a kick out of that. :)

I suspect eventually it will, in some way. This is the big problem with Legion: they have to have Superboy, or at least they think they do, but on the other hand this causes continuity problems and they aren't always allowed to. Why else have there been so many reboots? Anyway, I just get the feeling that they can't help pressing that Superboy button.
Why do they need Superboy?

They started out with Superboy, but hasn't there been enough work with the Legion's other characters that they can now forge their own path, without Superboy or any stand-ins for him like M'onel?

Yeah. I'm curious to see how they work that aspect into the story, too. I just read the first Books of Magic TPB and they said that magic had all but died out by the Legion's time. The fact that Mordru's the only big magic user and he's evil seems to cast magic on the "bad guy" side of the magic vs. technology conflict, too. I wonder what effect that and Mordru's inevitable appearance will play on Element Lad's new status... wow, lots of possibilities from a simple costume change.

Well, they haven't really said how Element Lad's powers are going to work. I'm assuming they stick with the same basis for them and not make them magically based. It sounds like he's going to be philosphically/attitude like Dr. Fate rather than powers that are similar. But I could be wrong.

Kitson mentioned alchemy in the design notes. Alchemy describes Element Lad's existing powers pretty well, but it also carries a heavy mystical connotation with it. I figured it wouldn't just be Element Lad, same as before, with a costume and an attitude like Fate's; I thought it'd be that his whole perception of himself and his powers would change, so that even if his powers aren't mystical in nature, he maybe views them as having some sort of mysterious, magical component. Or I'm talking out of my ass.

I made the decision tonight to get it and I was wondering who else is getting it.

who are your favorite legionarres in my case its a draw between aparition and karate kid

Me too! I always wanted to read the legion but didnt know where to start, now is my chance.

I got it. Haven't had a chance to read it yet but I bought it.

Probably pick it up. They relaunch this ****ing book again in two years and DC Headquarters is going to burn to the ground.

I got it. My favorite character in the issue was Sun Boy

Wait, is Legion the team of lame kids from the silver age with names like "Superhero Lad" and all that?

Not necessarily names like THAT, but yeah its the Legion of Superheroes. They're from the future, created in the Silver Age and had all kinds of wacky adventures.

Not sure yet if I'm going to pick it up.

Silence! Those "lame" kids starred in one of the best books The Silver Age ever saw.

F***! I knew the blank spot on the new comics table in my comics shop was something important! I'll have to check my other shop tomorrow.
