Europe Getting New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Edition. January 6, 2015 . 3:25am

European Club Nintendo members have been given the chance to purchase a New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador’s Edition before anyone else gets it.

European Club Nintendo members received an email this morning that gives them a chance to buy the New Nintendo 3DS before the official European launch. Not only that, but if they do buy it, they get it in the form of a special Ambassador’s Edition bundle.

The Ambassador’s Edition comes with exclusive Ambassador Cover Plate (front-only), a charging cradle, and a set of Super Smash Bros. cover plates (front and back) as well. That’s on top of the New Nintendo 3DS stylus, 4 GB microSDHC memory card, AR Cards, Quick-Start Guide, and Operations Manual that comes with all New Nintendo 3DS’s.

The New Nintendo 3DS Ambassador’s Edition costs €205 with shipping included (€199.99 otherwise).

The Ambassador’s Edition is only available to those Club Nintendo members in Europe who received the email. And it’s only available to purchase by them until January 12th 2015 at 23:59 GMT.

Oh goody. Another sign of NoA's disdain for US consumers. Seriously, just about everyone has the new 3DS but the US. I'll never understand why NoA can't do that kinda cool stuff in the US. I'll never understand it. ****, I don't even need the Ambassador Program, just release the New 3DS here.

The only places that actually have the New 3DS as of now is Japan and Australia. This thing with NOE seems to be some kind of early access to buy them, which is really weird, because I don't even think they have a date for regular release.

Yeah I know. I just see this ongoing trend where NoE and NoJ get a lot of cool stuff, especially via Club Nintendo, and NoA gets dirt.

Yeah, NOA sucks. But this is kind of eh. I mean, early access to the New 3DS is kind of cool if you planned to get it at launch, but I'm not sure if I was or not.

I'm not picking up a New 3DS right away, if I ever do.

I'll probably get one as long as I can sell my current 3DS XL and get most/all of the funds for one.

I'll probably buy it at launch. Sell my current 3DS XL and pick it up at launch for sure.

Apparently, this Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Edition has been confirmed to be localized outside Japan in one of the dev's twitter posts. So, there's a new game for the 3DS in 2015. Don't know much about the games, though, but apparently they are huge in Japan.

Yep. I'm looking forward to it. Here's a video showing off the game.

So, basically right now the 3DS schedule for 2015 looks like this:

Puzzle & Dragons
Codename: S.T.E.A.M
Majora's Mask 3D
Monster Hunter 4
Xenoblade Chronicles (New 3DS-only)
Assumingly new Pokemon title (Pokemon Z or something of the sort)

I know there's several titles hitting Japan like Bravely Second, but who knows if we'll see them outside that region for 2015 or at all. Not much going on with the 3DS next year as of now. We need a Direct to show some stuff.

There's bound to be a bunch more coming to 3DS. I'm thinking we get a Nintendo Direct in the next week or so to kinda outline this years games.

GameStop: New Nintendo 3DS Launches in North America on February 13

Earlier today we reported that a source in GameStop upper management had confirmed trade-in deals for New Nintendo 3DS, and since then a release date has been added to the GameStop system. Although it should still be considered as tentative until officially confirmed by Nintendo, GameStop lists New Nintendo 3DS for release in North America on February 13. Pre-orders will start soon (possibly tomorrow, although that is not confirmed), and trading in your old 3DS or 3DS XL will net you $75 and $100 towards the new system, respectively.

Pretty cool. Wonder when Xenoblade will show up for it? I've heard rumblings of a Nintendo Direct showing up near the end of the week. Take all that with a grain of salt though.

$100 for a XL? That is not too bad at all, probably not too far off from what I could get selling one on my own. I wonder if they'll let you transfer the data right there in the store, though? I seem to recall them doing this at one point. Otherwise, I'm not sure how the transfer of the data works from one system to another.

Also worth noting that this is also, I believe, the exact day that Kirby comes out on Wii U. Obviously, that's console stuff, but goddamn Nintendo, why are you doing that? Would it not make so much more sense to release one thing at the beginning or middle of the month, and the other at the end of it? Is it just easier/cheaper or something for them to ship all this stuff out on the same day?

Oh yeah, another leak from Gamestop is Gamestop Italy leaked the EU prices: 169.99 Euros for the regular and 199.99 Euros for the XL, making it the exact same price as the Old 3DS models. Not sure if this will translate to NA, but mostly likely it will. The colors they had were blue, black, and white:

I'm happy with the $100 trade for my XL. It's seen some action, so that's a fair price. I think the current exchange between Euro and Dollar puts the XL somewhere around $230. That's a tad high. I'm expecting a $199 price tag on the New 3DS XL.

And you're right about them stacking release dates Tron. I now have to choose New 3DS or Kirby. Choice is pretty obvious. New 3DS. I can pick up Kirby for cheap later.

Real question is will they ship a New 3DS exclusive game with the New 3DS. Xenoblade seems like a clear choice. Game is already made, and been translated. Can't be hard to port it over.

Considering how we've heard nothing about Xenoblade since it was announced, I doubt it'll be out next month. If the Majora's Mask rumors about Feb release is true, I could see it launching with it.

Seems a direct has been officially announced for tomorrow, too. I expect this to be officialized then.

So, here's the faceplates released so far for the New 3DS (note that this only work for the regular edition, not the XL edition). No word on if these will come Stateside or not, but I'm sure at least some of them will:

I'm all over the Goomba one.. But.. do I get a regular or XL? Hmmm.. I've yet to play on 3DS XL Old.. but a few of my friends said they preferred their original 3DS'

Well, if you want the Goomba one bad enough, you can only get it on the regular New 3DS :p

Here's a match up between the Regular N3DS and XL version. The regular is a bit bigger than the OG 3DS, it's kind of in-between. The N3DS XL version is the same size as the Old XL version.
