I can't think of a time when Nintendo bundled a system/revision with a retail game at launch. They didn't even do that with the 2DS and it came out around the same time as either Pokemon or Zelda (both Pokemon and Zelda got XL bundles instead). Well, there was the Wii U ZombiU bundle, though the console was, I think, just a regular console and not a specialized one.

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer my stuff (Nintendo ID, purchased software and the like) between my 3DS without two 3DS's? I'm trading my current one in to get the new one, and I have a lot of crap purchased from the eshop.

I don't think bundles are really seen as needed with launches of new hardware, even revisions. A launch of almost any hardware will (most likely) do well, bundles are usually something that I think companies employ whenever sales have slowed or they want to get a spike in sales or to highlight a big title. This is probably why they didn't launch a special edition 2DS with Pokemon or Zelda.

Obviously, it's not going to hurt to do that either. If they do a special edition New 3DS XL with MM, it'd make the third Zelda special edition 3DS model.

Not that I know of. You may want to send an e-mail to Nintendo customer support and see what they say.

But honestly, if the rumored trade-in value at GS ends up being true (as almost all the leaks from GS have about New 3DS), I would just trade it in at Gamestop for the $100. You probably aren't going to get a whole lot more out of a plain, non-SE XL than that, and I think Gamestop will let you transfer your stuff in store as you do the trade-in.

Probably 200 for the big one, 180 for the standard.

All games that work on the current 3DS will work on the new one.

I'm imagining $199 for the XL. Majora's Mask same day release would make me crazy happy, and my girlfriend is a diehard Monster Hunter fan, so she'd be over the moon if that came out same day as well. My only buggaboo is the glossy finish. It's gonna be fingerprint city on those things.

The prices for EU leaked: 169.99 euros for the regular, 199.99 euros for the XL version. Odds are those prices will be translated directly to US dollars, as the pricing has done so similarly with past 3DS models, but we should know for sure tomorrow mourning.

Yes, all current 3DS games will play on the New 3DS hardware. And, for what it's worth, all future software with the sole exception (at this time) of Xenoblade Chronicles.

ah, thanks guys!

Looking forward to 9 am. If they announce a purple N3DSXL and MM bundle I will RUN to GS to preorder.

So, they've started off pretty good with a new Fire Emblem game for the 3DS. Two of those Puzzle and Dragons games (The Mario one and one called Z(?)) will be sold together as a single package in May. There is also another puzzle game called Pokemon Shuffle that will free to download apparently next month.

EDIT: Mario vs Donkey is apparently an eShop title, not retail. It will come out March 5th for both Wii U and 3DS, and will be a crossbuy title (if you can believe that ****). If you buy one version of the game, you will get a download voucher for the other version.

EDIT: Fossil Frontier will come out NA in March 20th.

EDIT: New 3DS official announced, the date is Feb. 13th. It is only the XL version. Smash Bros 3DS will be, as expected, compatible with amiibos. It wasn't clear if data from the Wii U version will carry over if you have to start over. The system will not include an AC adapter, but all DS and 3DS adapters work (still ****, though).

EDIT: Codename Steam will have amiibo support. Fire Emblem characters will be unlockable via their amiibo. They won't be just reskins, they have their own weapons and movesets. Releases March 13th.

EDIT: Ace Combat game coming February 13th, has amiibo support to have character skins for planes.

EDIT: Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS will be ported by Monster Games and will be out in April.

EDIT: There will be a Monster Hunter 4 New 3DS XL bundle with Monster Hunter 4. It is not the cool black model Japan got, it's this metallic gray looking. It will able exclusively for Gamestop and will come out Feb. 13. A demon of MH4 will also be coming "soon". Standalone game also coming Feb. 13.

EDIT: Majora's Mask 3D will release Feb. 13. If you pre-order Codename Steam at Gamestop, you will also get a Majora's Mask pin randomly.

There will be a Majora's Mask special edition New 3DS XL bundle. It looks awesome, holy ****.

New Nintendo 3DS will launch in North America an Europe on February 13, Nintendo announced during its Nintendo Direct broadcast this morning.
In North America, the system will be available only in XL in red and gray color variations. In Europe, the system will be available in both standard (black and white) and XL (gray and blue).
The updated version of the 3DS boasts an enhanced CPU, motion-supported 3D capability, a C-stick, NFC communication for Amiibo interaction, longer battery life, and also automatically adjusts the brightness of the screen based on lighting conditions. The system also uses smaller Micro-SD cards. A 4 gigabyte Micro-SD card will come bundled with the hardware. The system will not include an AC adapter, but any DSi or 3DS AC adapter can be used with the system.
Watch a trailer for the new system below.

New Nintendo 3DS Coming To U.S. And Europe This February. January 14, 2015 . 6:34am

The New Nintendo 3DS will launch in North America and Europe this February, Nintendo announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning.

The New Nintendo 3DS will launch in North America and Europe this February, Nintendo announced during a Nintendo Direct presentation this morning. While Europe will get both the XL and regular models, North America will only get the XL model.

As detailed in past reports, the New Nintendo 3DS has more stable stereoscopic 3D, a second stick that can be used in games like Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and more powerful hardware than the regular 3DS.

The regular-sized model of the New Nintendo 3DS also has the ability for users to use custom faceplates that can be swapped in and out to allow owners to customize the look of their system. The XL model does not have this feature.

Both North America and Europe will get the device on February 13th. It will cost $199.99 in North America, and will not come with an AC adapter. (Although, it will be compatible with the DSi and 3DS’s adapter.) More details on the device from our coverage of its announcement in Japan last year can be found here.

So, funnily, the price was not mentioned for the New 3DS XL once during the direct. It's wasn't until directly afterward when it was posted on twitter that we knew it was $199.99. No word yet on the bundle prices.

Some notes on the bundles: The MH4 bundle has the game pre-installed, but the Majora's Mask will not have the game pre-installed in NA, for some reason. The MH4 bundle was explicitly said to be a Gamestop exclusive, but the same was not said of Majora's Mask. Here's pics of the bundles:

Why the heck would NINTENDO not include an AC adapter with this? How the heck are people supposed to charge it? It seems very odd to sell a handheld and then expect consumers to go out and buy the charging cable of the old model in order to get their new device to work. This just seems puzzling

Apparently, from what I'm reading, this has been standard practice in the EU every since the first 3DS XL revision. It makes no sense to me at all, either.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D slated for April

Monster Games handling New 3DS port.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will launch exclusively for New 3DS in North America during April and in Europe on April 2, Nintendo announced.
The game is a port of the Wii version, which is being handled by Monster Games, the same company that ported Donkey Kong Country Returns from Wii to 3DS.
The new version offers 3D visuals and allows players to view the maps and character stats on the bottom screen. An additional bonus mode lets players view 3D models of the characters and listen to music tracks from the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, a New Nintendo 3DS port of Xenoblade Chronicles, will release sooner than expected in the West—this April.

Europe will get the game on April 2nd, while a date for North America hasn’t been announced yet. Both regions will see the game in April, though.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D has been ported to Nintendo 3DS by Monster Games, the same team that ported Donkey Kong Country Returns to the 3DS. You also know them as the developer of Excite Truck and PilotWings Resort.

Nintendo say that Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will feature a new bonus mode that will let users view 3D models of the characters and listen to music from the game. We’ll have more info as it is announced.

I'm OK with the Majora's Mask 3DS not coming bundled with the game. I like physical copies of games. Funny, my girlfriend and I were debating yesterday about which color New 3DS we wanted, as neither of us want to get the red one. She's a diehard MH fan, and I'm a Zelda guy. Looks like Nintendo made up our minds for us.

Also, starting a Nintendo Direct with Fire Emblem was goddamn brilliant. Can't wait to get my hands on that.

Yeah, it looked great. I noticed no subtitle was given, just...Fire Emblem.

Goddammit, Nintendo. Goddammit.

I think we'll get a subtitle once localization is completed (hopefully).

Don't expect to walk into GameStop and be able to preorder this. Just came from there and GameStop made it a web in-store exclusive meaning you have to pay $200 right now to preorder it. My buddy said unfortunately it will not be coming into the store as a standard normal preorder.

What? The Majora's Mask bundle or the New 3DS XL in general?

The Sega Saturn, Turned Into A Nintendo 3DS THeme. January 13, 2015 . 11:47pm

Instead of making a theme based on a video game, Sega is using their classic consoles as a base for a set of Sega Hardware Nintendo 3DS themes.

Sega also made a Master System theme with good old Alex Kidd eating a rice ball in the background. Each nostalgic theme costs 200 yen and both are available now on Japan’s eShop.

God damn it, Nintendo of America.

No standard sized 3DS? Why? Why even make one with American SNES face buttons?

And now, if I want a Majora's Mask New 3DS I have to pay 200 dollars upfront to Gamestop (because they're out of online preorders), for a console with no game, and no charger? Fantastic.

Get some new management.
