Also that's not a Nintendo thing. It's GameStops new way to drive their web traffic and it doesn't look to be going away. My friends at GameStop said they expect things to start going this way.. Im gonna be done with GS if that's the case sadly.

I managed to get a pre-order through for the Majora's Mask New 3DS on the Canadian Amazon. Although I am worried about how concrete that is, since the product page changed it to "unavailable" like exactly one second after I put the order through. Hopefully they don't overbook orders.

New stuff that caught my eye

  • Gunman Clive 2 (January 20/Horberg Productions) – Now with four playable characters.
  • Moon Chronicles Ep. 2, 3, 4 (January/Renegade Kid)
  • Citizens of Earth (January 20/Atlus) – Team up with over 40 citizens as the vice-president of Earth.( has it own thread already )

Majora's Mask 3DS was all sold out at my Gamestop. I did manage to get one of the black 3DS's pre-ordered.

Are scalpers usually this bad? Between amiibo, Majora's Mask Limited Edition and the Majora's New 3DS it seems kinda crazy.

Nintendo of America is exceptionally incompetent, which leads to this crap with scalpers. Not enough supply to meet consumer demand.

One theory on the internet is that we're not getting the standard New 3DS, is because Nintendo can't manage to distribute the faceplates properly. Which actually sounds rather plausible, given that everyone else is getting them.

In Europe, there has been no issue with shortages on things like amiibos, and Wii U high capacity batteries. And obviously, they have all 3DS models, including the Majora's Mask one which comes with the Goddamn game.

Like I said, new management.

I agree. NoA's management is pretty dumb. There shouldn't be a shortage of supply on this stuff. They also need to find a way to enforce a "one purchase per customer" policy. Getting sick and ****ing tired of one guy buying 12 rare amiibos and selling them for $50 a piece.

Nintendo limiting supplies to drive up interest is nothing new. They did with the NES and SNES for a time. But this is just getting idiotic, because they never actually bring in more to sell, like they used to.

So now, if they're out of high capacity batteries... they're just out. Nintendo also seems to be having a lot of problems with distributors.

Even scalpers are complaining about how limited supplies are.

Wow, it's already on eBay for 500 USD, with some as high as 700.

Jesus.

The Majora's Mask game bundle is going for 150.

One seller has both for 800. That's not a bad deal, considering.

The scalpers are annoyed with the limited supply? It must be bad.

500 dollars for a 200 dollar edition console the same day it's announced?

Yeah, it's pretty ****ing bad.

Well, the WIS thing may be on Gamestop, but a lot of this is Nintendo's fault, plan and simple. They simply wait too long to announce these things. Honestly, whatever stock they planned to make for the New 3DS MM Edition was probably already made since it's less than a month away. They needed to announce this much earlier so that they could at least have the pre-order available for a few months so they can make sufficient stock.

Maybe we should write Reggie a letter, signed every damn Nintendo customer in America.

It's really strange considering how this has never really been an issue until the last half year or so. The 3DS and 3DS XL had a variety of limited editions that never had this problem. I mean, yes, they went out of print quickly (like a lot of their merchandise does), but they were still readily available when they were first released. I think that's what makes it mean more maddening that this is such a big problem now all of a sudden. It just makes no sense.

Well, I'm all for giving crap to Nintendo for a lot of the stuff being talked about, but I can't really do so for the one purchase thing. As I've said before, as far as to my knowledge, this is a retailer decision. I don't think there's anything Nintendo can realistically do there to enforce any kind of rule to that nature. Even if they sent out some type of thing recommending retailers to limit 1 unit per purchase, it's not like they can send a representative to every store to make sure it's being enforced. That's going to have to a be a decision on the retailer level.

“New Nintendo 3DS XL uses the same AC adapter as any Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo DSi system,” a Nintendo representative told us when we we inquired about the decision. “Rather than raise cost of New Nintendo 3DS XL by charging consumers for a component they may already own, we are giving them the option to only buy if they need an AC adapter.”
What a friggin BS reason.

So, do you get to keep your charger if you trade a 3DS towards one of these at Gamestop?

Also Nintendo, stop treating your customers like they're idiots.

Somehow my girlfriend and I have accumulated a handful of chargers over the years, so I'm not too concerned about the charger situation. Still, for those that don't have extras, it sucks hard.

That's stupid. It's like excluding an HDMI cable because you assume your customers will have a spare.

It's a common thing in the EU, apparently. Not just with Nintendo, but phones and stuff as well. I wish it would've stayed there, such a stupid ****ing practice.

Well, at least Europeans get their theme consoles with the damn game they're themed after.
