Koei Tecmo studio Ruby Party, known for their work on the romance simulation Neoromance series, is working on a new visual novel 3DS game for Attack on Titan, this week’s issue of Famitsu revealed. [Thanks, Hachima.]

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death is a visual novel game that uses material from the anime, as part of a tag-team effort between Ruby Party known for its Neoromance series that is geared towards women and the visual staff of the TV anime.

It features an original story that takes place in a certain old castle. You take on the role of a Survey Corps character and must find a way to escape from the old castle alongside familiar characters.

The protagonist is an original character, who lost their equipment and got lost in the old castle and will escape with two or three others. When you first start out, you’ll get to pick the gender of the protagonist. Going male will give you Mikasa and female will get you Levi as partners.

As you advance through the story, you’ll get to work with various characters. The story takes place before the female Titan shows up in the original work.

Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death is in development for Nintendo 3DS. Its development is currently 30% complete.

Ruby Party's Attack on Titan adventure game.

Famitsu has gone live with its first online preview of Attack on Titan: Escape from Certain Death, Koei Tecmo’s newly announced Attack on Titan game for 3DS from its Ruby Party brand, who normally handles the company’s Neo Romance series games.

The game follows an original story with an original protagonist and is set in a certain old castle. The player is a member of the Survey Corps investigating the dangerous world “outside the wall,” and must attempt to escape the old castle alongside familiar series characters.
Here’s an overview of the story:
While investigating the outskirts of a certain old castle, the Survey Corps are caught in a Titan assault. The ground collapses amid the chaos, and the protagonist ends up falling into an underground part of the old castle. Just narrowly escaping death, the protagonist cannot return to the surface as their Three Dimensional Maneuver Gear has broken. The protagonist links up with a single “partner” and attempts to escape the castle underground shrouded in mystery, but…?

A Look At 3DS Hardware And Software Trends And How Yo-kai Watch Found A Home In Europe . October 27, 2016 . 2:00am

Nintendo shared the latest on the Nintendo 3DS situation in their semi-annual financial results briefing for fiscal year ending March 2017 with info on how the handheld console performed in Japan, the US, and Europe.

This graph shows Nintendo 3DS system hardware sellthrough in Japan from April 2016 through the second week of October compared with sell-through for the previous period. The Nintendo 3DS family had already reached an installed base of over 21 million units in Japan by the end of March this year, and sell-through for this period has continued at a comparable pace. We also introduced Nintendo 2DS to the Nintendo 3DS family hardware lineup in Japan last month, aiming to further expand the base for this platform. Nintendo 2DS is offered at an even more affordable price and children can easily enjoy playing with it as their first game system. The previously-released New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL systems have also continued to sell without any major slowdown and have brought in new customers. Nintendo 3DS hardware overall continues to show strong sales trends.

Note 1: Nintendo 3DS hardware includes the New Nintendo 3DS, the New Nintendo 3DS XL, the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo 3DS XL and the Nintendo 2DS.

Note 2: FW: Week number in the fiscal year (the first week of April is FW1)

This graph shows Nintendo 3DS software sell-through trends in Japan compared with sell-through for the previous period. The sell-through includes titles from other software publishers. It is down this period compared to the last period, which saw the release of new entries in popular series, such as Rhythm Heaven Megamix, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright/Conquest, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

Next, this graph shows Nintendo 3DS hardware sellthrough trends in the U.S. compared with sell-through for the previous period. In the U.S., the previously released Nintendo 2DS was dropped to an even more affordable price, and promotional activities aimed at children and parents were effective in increasing sales. The release of Pokémon GO on July 6th also led to a major increase in sales of the Nintendo 3DS family systems, where consumers can enjoy past titles in the Pokémon series. The trend here is higher than that for the previous period, and we are maintaining this momentum as we head into the holiday season.

Note: Pokémon GO is an application for smart devices (Development and Publishing: Niantic, Inc., Development Oversight: The Pokémon Company)

This graph shows Nintendo 3DS first-party software in the U.S. compared with sell-through for the previous period. In the U.S., promotional activities aimed at children and parents were effective in increasing sales, and there was solid growth in sales for evergreen titles and Nintendo Selects games such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. The release of Pokémon GO also provided a bump in sales for the Pokémon series, and as a result, sales here have also surpassed those in the previous period.

This graph shows Nintendo 3DS hardware sell-through trends in Europe compared with sell-through for the previous period. As in the U.S., the release of Pokémon GO across Europe starting in July spurred momentum for hardware sales.

This graph shows Nintendo 3DS first-party software sell-through trends in Europe compared with sellthrough for the previous period. In the European market, we again see the boost in Pokémon series titles in July, but this is supported by new titles such as Kirby: Planet Robobot, Fire Emblem Fates Birthright/Conquest, and Monster Hunter Generations, for which Nintendo provided distribution in Europe. Evergreen titles and Nintendo Selects titles also sold well. Overall software sales are vigorous, outpacing the previous period.

In Europe, the first title in this series, Yo-Kai Watch, was released this year on April 29, with Nintendo of Europe managing distribution. This graph compares the sell-through in the European market with the earlier release in the Japanese market. It is easy to see that Europe is off to a strong start, outpacing the sales figures of the Japanese release. I am told that the Yo-kai Watch toys are selling well in Spain and France as well, so we anticipate further demand as we head into the holiday season.

All the Nintendo 3DS Game Deals for Black Friday So Far. November 24, 2016 . 8:00pm

3ds-games-black-friday.jpg

3DS gamers? Then you know how it feels. 3DS game deals are hard to come by and discounts are few and far in between. You would think picking up a cheap old Nintendo 3DS released years ago would be half-off – but nope, full retail list price. Now that the big Black Friday sales day is here – are sales overflowing? Unfortunately, not quite…

If you’ve been browsing – you’re probably as disappointed as we were with the light amount of deals being offered at retailers across the web. In fact, short of select pre-owned BOGO sales (which aren’t very good), there just aren’t that many noteworthy Nintendo 3DS game deals this Black Friday season. As of writing, only about 10 deals are still valid and worth picking up. We’ve listed them below for your window shopping needs.

If there’s a deal elsewhere not being covered, let us know and we’ll add ’em to the list. 3DS game deals below are spread between multiple retailers, namely Walmart, Toys”R”Us, and Best Buy.
Game deals brought to you by the crew at Dealzon. Disclaimer: sales from certain retailer help support Siliconera.

Went ahead, and bought Mario Maker for 3DS digitally. I was disappointed you can't share levels beyond street pass, but beyond that I'm enjoying it. I'm so backlogged on games it's not funny though. I need to quit buying new ones until I finish the old ones. Doesn't help that I added Dragon Ball Dokkan to my daily game cycle a bit back.

Would you say Mario Maker 3DS is worth a purchase without a lot of the online functionality? I never made many courses, instead focusing on just playing levels made by others.

I'm in the same boat. I bought Mario Maker with Pokemon Sun/Moon last month and I'm still only halfway through X. Also doesn't help that I've been putting most of my gaming time into my PS4 backlog.
