Comics Official Random X-Men One-Shots and Specials Thread

Is this the thread i post my review for the X-Men : Sword of the Braddocks in?

Uttter. Load. Of. Bollocks.

Im not even sure why I bought it.. I was interested in seeing how Betsy ends up in the 616 universe again. Which she did, but then she went back to the Exiles multiverse thing... so that was a bit redundant.

The art wa quite pretty but seemed very wooden in places.. im not sure if that was more the writings impact on it though.

Im not sure Betsy should actually be shouting "oh no my TK and telepathic attacks dont seem to be working on him" (or something like that) in the middle of a fight with someone... you really dont want to literally tell them your weaknesses.

Im also saddened that she didnt have Captain Britain help her. AS HE WAS STOOD RIGHT NEXT TO HER. Its the most embarrassingly bad cliche for comic books...

"Hi, can I help you... hes really powerful and will probably kill you"
"NO, this is MY fight!"
"....really? not just a bit of help? even though he could kill you? ....ok il just stand here watching then"

and also.. why did all the other versions of Psylocke turn up at the end? loads of paralel versions of everyone else die all the time and they dont all turn up as ghosts randomly.

complete waste of time and effort. Cant even think of anything good to say about the comic. Anyone else curious to see how psylocke gets back into the real world... this isnt it. This is just a solo story of her that should have been in (the now cancelled because it was rubbish) new Exiles. (and dont get me started on the backup story)

How and why did she go back to the Exilesverse?

I skimmed it in the shop, but put it back :o

because the Exiles can go to and from any universe they fancy now apparently? Someone who actually reads Exiles might want to correct me on this. Im not sure why she hasnt visited before now then if its true... or why everyone else in the Exiles hasnt just gone back to their home universes.

Someone might want to explain what the whole slaymaster business is about. Near as i can tell from looking online, she beat him a while ago without too much problem.... so I dont see why she spent half this issue so worried that hes too powerful and strong and that shed never be able to beat him.

Never understood the Slaymaster fear she has. He took her eyes when she was just a psionic in a Capt Britain outfit. Then she came back as a ninja psionic, so his fighting skills being a threat to her were pretty much moot. On top of that Sabretooth gutted her far worse than Slaymaster to the point of almost dying. She came back from that and kicked his ass several times over later on. So her fear of Slaymaster is even more without foundation.

THEN, THEN she swaps out telepathy and a psychic knife for hugely powerful teke ON TOP OF her ninja skills - yet she fears Slaymaster? PLUS - her frickin brother altered her structure to not be affected by any kind of reality warping or psionic detection/tracking, so why she was feeling the deaths of alternate psylockes I don't know. Its not like the other exiles feel the deaths of alternates or people outside of the exiles base.

The only way he beat any of the alternate Psylockes (a surprising number of which were the asian version) was some kind of power dampener (how any superbeing is a threat to any other when power dampeners are clearly so easy to whip up is beyond me).

Plus of course, the follow up story had no meaning because the X-Men know she isnt dead. And Brians involvement was moot as whenever she comes back from a disappearance they have hug, he goes "Oh, wow your back" and then she buggers off without so much as a "who gives a crap" from either of them

When? I dont recall Psylocke ever even facing Sabretooth after he nearly killed her back in UXM 328

Those Timestorm/2099 things are awesome. I just hope they don't **** up the Spider-Man one...so help me god, I will shank a ***** because I love me some Miguel O Hara.

Ah, I totally missed the timestorm title for three times I've been in this thread today...

Yay, I have full control of my 'Ignore Wolverine like he doesn't even exist even when he's right in the front of the cover' mutant power! Or maybe it's because I'm too stunned to find out that they bother to come up with a Gambit Origin (not that I expect something new will show up in the so-called Origin anyway...)

Which suit is Brian wearing, is new CB & MI13 costume??

Implants, like the lips.

Same doctor, which explains why everything is so horse**** screwed.

Yes, that's right. I made a Larroca joke, finally.

Just for ****s and giggles, here's the varient cover to Skrull Kill Krew #2:

The good news about the Gambit origins is that it will focus on an important, but still unrevealed section of Gambit's ast: his first meeting with Sinister and the deal they struck.

??? Did Logan turn into a cow?

Or is this a cow which is related to him?

What the heck is Skrull Kill Krew?

SKK in a nutshell: When the Skrulls first appeared, they were enemies of the Fantastic Four. Well, obviously, the group stopped an invasion of the aliens, but to deal with those that were left, Reed brainwashed them into thinking they were all cows, so they would live the rest of their lives in the shapes of the bovine out on some rural farm somewhere. However, several of those cows were slaughtered and made into hamburger. When a few people ate this special meat, they were given semi-shape-shifting powers and an immense hatred of all things Skrull. So, they took their power and set out to hunt down and kill any Skrulls left on earth in their own small series back in the day. They've been in limbo since, but Secret Invasion was a perfect opportunity for them to resurface, and now they're looking to eliminate any other stragglers the invasion left behind in a new mini-series. I'm guessing that each issue will have a varient of different heroes in cow form rather than skull form.

they had better not screw up 2099 continuity as they are doing with the 616...dammit we already KNOW there are mutants in 2099...um..X-Men: 2099 anyone? X-Nation 2099...not only are mutants in the future but they were thriving(well, in numbers anyways)

and WOLVERINE was NOT there.
