You know what's weird about the year 2099? Back in the day, 2099 was this unique timeline in the Marvel Universe's future.

Now that it's 2009, 2099 is Bishop's time. Bishop was born roughly 80 years in the future. 2099 puts Bishop in his preteen to teen years.

ART BY Sara Pichelli, Emma Rios
COLORS BY Christina Strain
LETTERS BY VC - Joe Caramagna
COVER BYDavid LaFuente
PUBLISHER: Marvel Comics
COVER PRICE: $3.99
RELEASE DATE: Thu, May 28th, 2009

When Runaway Molly Hayes responds to the X-Men’s psychic invitation welcoming all mutants to a new home in San Francisco, she declares it “Moll-ifest Destiny” and heads to the Headlands to investigate! But when she finds herself back-to-back with Wolverine, cornered by a villain with a vendetta, she might find being an X-Man isn’t just secret clubhouses and cool-looking costumes…

The reason I don't read Runaways is they are too "manga-like", for someone like me who had read more than a decade's manga before graduated from them, it doesn't hold enough appeal to me.

I stopped reading this after Joss's run. It was hurting my brain. :(

hmmm..and in X-Nation 2099...it did seem as if it were leading up to something big involving mutants and humans...perhaps the build up to Hope going ape-dung insane and killing a bunch of flatscans perhaps?

Perhaps, though I like to think Hope's powers will have some sort of inadvertent side-effect that causes millions of people to die. You know, something she can't control that would justify Bishop attempting to kill her from birth rather than raise her to be a good person.

Mutant mayhem in a Battle by the Bay! While exploring their new home in San Francisco, X-Men Iceman and Angel discover that the weirdest part of the city isn't its eclectic populace or crazy landmarks, but the monsters that pass through -- namely the Incredible Hulk! Now they've got to track down Hulk and get to the bottom of a series of earthquakes (because THAT never happens in SF...) before the Red Hulk shows up bringing his trademark good cheer to San Fran. Did we say good cheer? We meant destruction and carnage. PLUS: Dazzler rocks out at the Fillmore and Hulk's got backstage passes! Will the Pop Princess get Smashed, live in concert?
40 PGS./One-Shot/Rated T+ ...$3.99

Who is the green flying chick?

Timestorm 2009/2099: X-Men #1

Story by Brian Reed
Art by Wes Craig
Colors by Nathan Fairbairn, Frazer Irving
Letters by Dave Sharpe
Cover by Paul Renaud
Publisher Marvel Comics
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date Wed, June 24th, 2009

Meet the all-new, all-futuristic X-Men! Ninety years from now there are no mutants...or are there? In the Hulk-ruled wastelands of 2099, Wolverine investigates whether a small band of survivors are getting by on more than just their smarts. Is there a new generation of the Children of the Atom forming? This special TIMESTORM one-shot holds the answer!

God damnit, Marvel. Stop treating alternate futures as real futures. Bishop's work with the XSE and X-Men 2099 take place in the same time period, thanks to Bishop being born only 80s years from now, and his adulthood catching up to 2099. Hell, in a few years, the 2099 timeline will be part of Bishop's childhood.
