Official Rock Band 2 thread

You're right about that, the Beatles have a huge marketing empire, and two of them are dead.

The fact that it's not Rock Band, but some seperate game makes it far less of a coupe than it seemed at first. People will still buy it by the truck load due to the fact that it's the Beatles though.

Hopefully RB still sees some DLC Beatles though....it seems less likely with this announcement though.

I'm kinda disappointed that it won't be a "Rock Band" game, but I hope you can transfer songs into RB2 a la RB1. Still, having the chance to play Beatles' songs will be amazing, and I hope they will accept periperals from GH:TW and RB2.

Yes, Harmonix is making it, but it is a standalone game in the same vein as GH: Aerosmith...only without the Rock Band brand attached to it.

The fact that it won't be RB branded makes me think that they probably won't allow any transfer or DLC for the band. It's probably part of the agreement to get the Beatles catalogue.

It severely annoys me that I won't be able to download Beatles songs into my Rock Band library. I thought Harmonix was above doing "Album games," but I guess when it comes to the Beatles they'd rather do a dedicated Beatles game than let Activision do it. Still, it's disappointing. :(

Yeah, but something's better than nothing. Especially when it's The Beatles.

Anyway, "Rock Band AC/DC" is almost here. Woot!

Yes, I'm sure to get the deal, Harmonix had to follow the orders of the remaining Beatles. It's still dissapointing, especially if the instruments won't work and you have to buy yet another set of peripherals.

It just makes the coupe much less effective. I'll probably still pick it up, assuming the instruments work. If they don't, I'm not sure I'm willing to force more plastic into my home. Between the current music games, and a few items I have for the Wii, I'm done with anymore peripherals.

Today I brought 360 RB2 (after buying 360 console). Originally I was going to buy GHTW instead, but I've heard from the forum that Activision has quality issues with their instruments, so I've decided not to take a chance on that and buy RB2 instead. I'll get GHTW game disc later. I'll probably purchase RB2 drum cymbal to improve on the drum experience (as the GHTW's drum's addition of cymbal the biggest improvement over RB2).

I'm ordering the RB2 band set this weekend off of Amazon. It'll be a Christmas present for myself.

i really wish i had money for the Foo Fighters album pack

To anyone who has the Rb2 guitar, what do you think of it? Is it better or worse than the Guitar Hero guitars?

Guitar Hero guitars are definitely better. My favorite guitar is the Guitar Hero 3 guitar.

I've read some of them having connectivity issues with the fret buttons. And Red Octane being terrible to deal with in the event it no longer works.

I prefer the RB2 Guitar to all the guitars I own: RB1, GH2 Explorer, and GHWT Piece of S**t.

What don't you like about the GHWT guitar? I've used that I really liked it. I've also heard other people say it's the best one available.

The one I got broke shortly after I got it. It stays on downstrum unless you give it a good whack, which fixes it for approximately ten minutes.

Seems like you just got a crappy one unfortunately.

Well, I have GH3 guitar and now RB2 guitar, and I must say it does take some getting used to. The strut bars seemed to be closer to each other, making it tougher to do some combination strutting (like green-yellow or red-blue). The strum bar feels tighter, and I have to make a greater effort to strum than I had with GH3. With that said, though, I like the look of the guitar, and I think I'll have to get used to it over time (starting with Easy setting). And imo RB2 feels like a better game than GH.

Raiden, which would you recommend to someone who is still getting used to the game?

Well, I think my difficulty stemmed from getting too used to GH3's guitar controller, and imo there is a difference between GH3 and RB2 guitars (not sure about GHWT since I haven't tried it yet). I think it's something that I will have to get used to over time, but I don't want to say that it's a bad controller simply because I'm not used to it just yet.

I'm going to pick this up tomorrow. I was going to get it on Amazon but found a GameStop giftcard that has $12. I'm going to save it for Christmas though. I like having a big present under the tree. I find it nostalgic.
