Official Rock Band 2 thread

Even strumming up and down, I tend to get off-beat somehow and wind up with a big patch of missed notes. I also can't hit the orange fret yet, so I'm stuck at medium.

This video makes me want to get the RB2 drums and cymbal pack so bad...



They're expensive though.

^ That RB2 drum demonstration is pretty cool. I have the RB2 drum and 2 cymbal set, but I haven't set it up yet since I've been playing guitar solo, and right now we don't have a place to put the drum set. This vid makes me want to set it up and try it right away.

I wonder why Hermonix hasn't given us a DLC that contains new clothing, accessories, hair styles, and other things like instruments that are purchasable by in-game money? I think it will make the game more interesting and prolong the longevity of this game, unless they have RB3 in their mind.

I think they're probably going to just stick to tracks. The game's already got tons of clothing and hairstyles--more than any other game of its type, anyway.

I'm having problem with my RB2 drum set. I just set it up and calibrate this controller to my Xbox, and since I could use all the buttons on the control panel I assumed that the calibration went smoothly, so I went to practice mode to test it out. But I quickly discovered that no matter how I hit the drum pads, they do not register on the screen. The pedal seems to work fine btw. I went to manual calibration, but again I cannot get the drum pad to be recognized on the calibration screen, so right now I'm stuck.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Should I contact the RMA dept?

Are you going into the Calibration menu with the drums? The club I go to at school was calibrating it last week and one of the guys said you have to go into the menu with the drums.

If not, post this on Game FAQs forums. You'll get an answer.

Yeah, that sounds like the most likely culprit. If you enter the menu using something other than the drums, it's going to want to calibrate whatever you entered the menu with, and not the drums.

This weeks DLC is pretty weak. I find it very surprising that they didn't throw in one or two rock songs to balance out the country pack.

For those who haven't gotten Rock Band yet, Toys R' Us will has it for $109 plus a $25 gift card. Even though I shouldn't, I'm probably going to pick this up. lol.

Rock Band or Rock Band 2? If it's RB1, I'd pass. While that's a good price, the guitar and drums in RB2 are much better and worth the extra dough, IMO.

Well, after tried and failed two times, third time's the charm and my drum pads suddenly started to work, thankfully. I was afraid that I'd have to send it over to Harmonix RMA dept and get a replacement. Anyway, my sister and her hubby & their kids came over this weekend, and we were able to have a nice Rock Band thing going and everyone had a great time. The funniest thing was to see my niece singing "That's The Way You Want" by Journey, and she did pretty well on easy setting. My brother-in-law was deciding between RB2 and GHWT, but now he has decided to get RB2 instead due to the good song list that RB2 has over GHWT.

Songs I purchased over the weekend: "Just A Girl" - No Doubt and "Hammerhead" - Offspring

I called my mom earlier and she checked and picked it up. They had it and for the price advertised. So tomorrow or Wed I'll be returning my other RB2 band set to GameStop.

I don't know if I should use the $25 to buy GHWT guitar set or just wait until the guitar is sold separately which is all I want.

I take back what I said about this weeks DLC. 3 of the songs (Hillbilly Deluxe, Sin Wagon, and Gunpowder & Lead) are all incredibly fun to play on guitar. Banjo FTW.
