Official Rulk Thread

Red Hulk is not Hulk. Give each one his own title and we'll see which one sells.

Well, I'll be getting both for the first little while... I can see myself dropping Rulk if the reveal/character doesn't get better...

Rulk is pretty one dimensional so far if you ask me. He started off kind of cool, but his mystique wore off and now he's just another wise ass villain.

Started off s***ty and stayed s***ty to me. But then, I'm not a huge fan of the savage Hulk either, since a lot of his comics have been all about smashing and action, just like Rulk's is. Obviously, there's a need for some of that in superhero comics, but I prefer character-driven stories to pure spectacles.

I'm looking forward to Banner/Skaar antics in Incredible Hulk after Planet Skaar. I hope that cover's not just a cover and actually indicates that that's gonna be the status quo.

Nothing I like sells comics. I'm beginning to think I'm getting my fiction from the wrong medium.

lol...
well to be honest i only have Hulk Vol 1 tradepaper back, waiting for Vol 2 to become tpb,so im still confused over whats happening in the storyline... esp after the cliffhanger at the end of Vol 1

The first indie comics I ever got into were the Virgin Comics, who had comics conceptualized by John Woo and Deepak Chopra. Virgin Comics folded back in summer 2008 (and before Hugh Jackman could make his comic with them, no less). At this point, I'm afraid to follow through with reading Gold Digger by Antarctic Press (it was brought to my attention when I picked up its free issue on FCBD), as I'm pretty sure the entire company will suddenly go bankrupt the moment I start giving them money.

You could go for some more stable indies. Dark Horse, Image, Top Shelf, Oni, etc. If you want to check out a fantabulous indie story that's already got a couple volumes and is almost certainly going to have more, I'd recommend The Damned from Oni. They've got two complete (and awesome) stories collected in trades called The Damned and The Damned: Prodigal Sons. The only thing that sucks about indie comics like that is you sometimes have to wait long stretches without them, since the creators take their time and release them in small bursts.

The Professor didn't sell comics.

No? That's odd considering The Hulk was written with that persona for a few years worth of stories throughout the Marvel Universe...if that incarnation wasnt selling, why was he around so long?

Marvel had a crush on Peter David at the time?

I thought the professor sold pretty well too. He was around for a long time. That's when I first started buying Hulk comics regularly, in fact.

Yeah, you guys are right. Prof Hulk was around for like, ALL of the 90s except the very end which nobody read anyway because it sucked.

Eh, last I checked it wasn't really doing that great but not quite that bad either. Hopefully lots of new readers check out Planet Skaar and it boosts sales for a while. It really blows my mind that Skaar hasn't sold WAY better than it is.

As popular as Planet Hulk and WWH were, I can't believe more people chose to follow Hulk rather than Skaar. Ya know, because Hulk is a horrible title that comes out late all the time and Skaar is AWESOME and comes out on time.

What the hell.

I hope it improves. Buddy can yoou give me a link to the june july aug and sep covers of Skarr and Hulk. I have not seen them and I really want to.

Many thanks.

Name recognition. Skaar is not the Hulk, plain and simple. That's probably why they're putting him in Incredible Hulk following Planet Skaar.

Let's be honest, here. Avengers: The Initiative really could've just been titled The Initiative, but then where would the name recognition be? I'm pretty sure every previous incarnation of New Mutants has gotten relaunched under a new X-sounding title (whether that be X-Force or New X-Men). I'm fairly certain Captain Britain & MI-13 would've been a Top 50 comic if it had been titled MI-13: The British Avengers.

We need a New Spider-Hulk & the X-Avengers title, just to see how high sales go.
