Official Rulk Thread

Loeb will write this amazing issue that reveals to us how he was trolling readers from day one, and we'll realize that we were all silly for not having seen it.

He'll say that's what he's doing, and then the actual issue will be 20 pages of Rick Astley.

Why can't Loeb just die already?

[blackout]And by "die", I mean "stop writing".[/blackout]

Because he writes top selling comics that surprising most people not on the internet and a lot of people on like.

I'm having a blast reading this comic. I mean, it's everything it was advertised to be. Nobody should have expected great plotting or dialogue from this comic, they told you essentially not to. So why complain about something they were very upfront and honest to us about?

Exactly how I feel.

Wasn't most of the advertisement for this run on the Internet? I remember more interviews and sneak peeks on sites like Newsarama than actual ads telling us what to expect. Maybe I was being naive, but I was expecting some of the good work I'd read on Spider-Man: Blue rather than what we got (Hulk vs. the Big Red Gimmick).

Sounds good to me

Because he's really an amazing writer, one of my favourites. Honestly, he has written some brilliant comics in the past (The Challengers of the Unknown Must Die is my favourite comic of all time), and I am enjoying this Hulk series. It may not be a mind-blowing series, but it is a lot of fun. It's full of action and I have a blast reading each issue!

Then simply put, you were foolish for doing so. They told you not to expect that. It was always supposed to be balls ton the wall action, Michael Bay type ****. I seriously don't see how you can complain about something they promised you.

Sounds good to me

Seriously, it's classic turn your brain off entertainment.

That's the Liefield argument. "Rob Liefield's stuff sells, so it must be good!"

I've seen this argument before, but I don't remember anyone at Marvel saying that Hulk would be mind-numbing. I know Loeb said he wants to pander to McGuiness' love for Hulk action (not surprising since he always panders to his artist), but that doesn't translate into "the story is going to be really ****ty."

Honestly, the only reason I picked up this series in the first place was be cause of Mcguinness. I just love his art, much better than that hack Romita

I remember that too. There was supposed to be somewhat of a detective story surrounding who the Red Hulk is, which has almost disappeared, and that is kinda disappointing, but I do see what Darth is saying; the action of the book was hyped up and if you look at this as it being an action comic, he's doing his job. I mean, the pacing is relatively brisk, and I think the brisk pacing gives it the impression of it being simplistic when it really isn't simplistic, it is no worse than most other comics as far as intelligence goes.

Am I looking forward to issue 4? I dunno, I'll peek at a few pages but Hulk was never my character. I do like She-hulks involvement in it though.

Um no, it's not the Liefeld argument at all. You asked why he doesn't stop writing? Because people still like his writing and his books sell. Liefeld went away for a while when you guessed it, his stuff stopped selling. I'm not saying Loeb is a good writer or a bad writer, I'm responding to your question with facts. He still writes because people still buy his ****, regardless of quality.

But the story isn't really ****ty, it just isn't Planet Hulk. It's a simple, straightforward, noncomplex mystery story. He's not writing The Long Halloween with the Hulk here. Seriously, this book has been as advertised. And like some others here, one of the main reasons to buy this book is the art, everything else is frankly, secondary.

I gotta agree, Ultimates 3 is deserving of hate but hulk has been exactely what it was billed as, and frankly it's been pretty fun so far. Red hulk has a pretty good character and seems like what WWH should have been. This is stictly a popcorn ride with a bit of mystery thrown in, you either like that or you don't, but I'm suprised so many people are shocked given this is exactely what it was advertised as.

So wait I'm a bit lost in the smoke here. People are getting upset because there is to much action and not enough plot in a Hulk comic???? Can we just sit back and think about that for a second. Planet hulk has made you guys greedy.
its Hulk Smash! not hulk philosophize!

It's like complaining about X-Force having way too much blood, well what exactly did you expect?

For that to happen the whiny minority would have to be the silent majority.
