Official Rulk Thread

It is definitely not Fury. Especially since Bendis has some stuff planned for him (Secret Warriors I think it's called?) post-SI.

And Rulk DID finish off Abomination with a gun.

And I wouldn't count on anything Loeb is writing about A-Bomb to be tied into anything post WWH.

And Rulk may be stronger, but green jeans can get stronger as he gets madder and madder.

It wont be Fury for a few reasons, not least his having a big role in Secret Invasion and the facts that he hasn't been in the Rulk series at all and has no axe to grind with Hulk either (Rulk clearly has an issue or two with the original)

Ross would be waay too obvious, Samson's torn short is obviously a red herring and I think Clay Quatermain's apparent corpse is too (we never saw his face...could easily have been an LMD, ergo: I think Rulk is him.

His history does support this: Use of guns, knowledge of Shield's computers (and how to infect them with a virus) and has had ties with the Hulk in the past too.

HULK #8
Written by JEPH LOEB
Penciled by ART ADAMS & FRANK CHO
50/50 Covers by Art Adams & FRANK CHO
Variant Cover by SAL BUSCEMA

Looking to make a bombastically brilliant book? Here's what ya do: Have JEPH LOEB whip up two heaping helpings of Hulk. Get ART ADAMS to draw HULK vs. the maximum amount of WENDIGO monsters allowed on paper. Then get FRANK CHO to draw RULK whupping up on the gorgeous LADY LIBERATORS. Put both tales together, call the whole thing Hulk #8. Bring to boil and serve.
"Bombastically brilliant book." BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I just thought some of you would get a kick out of this...

This is probably the most likely scenario I've heard so far. Super sleuthing, gumshoe!

Well, at least they're being honest in the description for #8.

Ross would be waay too obvious

Haven't we learned that there's no mystery in this book? The all-too-obvious response is usually the right one here.

Perhaps...but Ross is an old school army general: He would barely know how to operate a computer, much less infect an encrypted security Shield system with a hi-tech virus. Another thing against Ross is that he was immediately behind Iron-Man (with Clay) when Rulk attacked IM on the Helicarrier.

So for now I'm sticking with Clay as I figure Clay/Rulk set up an LMD double to operate on the Helicarrier, perhaps stealing the mammoth gun Rulk is using and planting the virus too (as a Shield agent he'd have the access to do both) and to also serve as the left behind corpse when planting Samson's torn jacket - remember Tony ordered Shield to find Ross, Samson and Clay. Knowing his human form (assuming he can change back to that) was being hunted what better way to throw your pursuers off the scent than to have them think you are dead?
Going back to the Helicarrier this theory works again as Rulk could have nabbed Samson with the LMD snatching Ross too.

Now if it isn't Clay, and with Ross ruled out by what is known of his character and the events on the carrier then the most obvious choice, if Loeb goes that route, should be Samson.

Crap loads of Wendigos and HUlks battle? Oh I dunno I've got a baaaaaAAAaaAAAad feeling about this. :\

You just now getting that feeling?! When Rulk beat Thor with the freakin Thorforce, I knew this book wouldn't make any sense.

Yeah I mean that wouldn't make any sense! It'd be like the Red Hulk beating up Thor with his own hammer!

Having a axe to grind with Hulk is not the point. He has a axe to grind with Stark. I mean people seem to forget when Rulk was fighting Rick Jones, Ross was talking to Banner. There is a retinal file for who ever is Rulk. He likes to use guns, and he has the funny eye. and because of the gamma healing it is the biggest reason I think it Fury. If Fury did something Stark could not do he may get his old job back

Oh I was real mad about that in the other threads; as much as I love Hulk(banner) I really have started to like Thor again, it's just that the reason I didn't get such a feeling was that I was in a rage-induced coma.

:csad:

Honestly I just think that there's going to be massive ridiculousness to explain the multiple Wendigos (what was there Cannibal-fest '08 already?)

Oh also like your sig dude. lol

Ok, I can't fault that one. Logic in this series has definitely taken a back-seat to showing how bad-@ss Rulk is meant to be (jobbing Thor, decking the Watcher...:o:csad:).

Still sticking with Clay for now though.

Are you sure Fury even WANTS his old job back?

If the Red Hulk calms down a little will he become the Pink Hulk?

Hopefully we get the wwh back because Mr Hulk Smash with childlike personality aint gonna cut it anymore.

Me too. I knew it wasn't Samson (red herring, like you pointed out earlier) and it definitely isn't Ross (what, is his mustache retractable?)... I didn't even think about Clay Quartermain until you pointed it out but I think it makes perfect sense.

I'm with you, wobbly.

Maybe Ross wears a fake mustache while in human form. :word:

Why would Clay actually become a Hulk in the first place, though? Bruce becomes the Hulk because of his multiple personality disorder and inferiority complex, Jen becomes She-Hulk because of her repressed nature, and I could easily see Ross becoming the red Hulk out of frustration that's built up over all his years of losing to the Hulk. But Clay Quartermain seems like a pretty normal, well-adjusted dude.

Lol, great avatar Corp. i LOVE that freakin' episode!

I've been catching up on all things Star Trek lately. Just saw that ep a couple days ago. :)

LOL! I just wanna keep watching it over and over!

It's sad that you guys keep posting in the thread if this book sucks so much :-( show the Captain America and Iron Man threads some more love; those are at least great books.

It's a pretty well-proven fact that people tend to b**** more than they tend to praise. Which, really, is the way it ought to be. No one wants to stand around repeating how awesome something is day after day.

Good point... I don't know how or why he would transform into a Hulk with the kind of personality that the red Hulk has. HOW did he even get gamma irradiated in the first place? Of course, Loeb's explanations for Rulk and A-Bomb (stupid name...) probably won't be really that great anyway.

It still makes more sense to me than Samson or Ross though.
