i dont get it

An early draft of Batman Begins was leaked and it was more 85 percent or more of what we would get in the movie....

So, I just listened to that webcast with the screenwriters, and they mention of lot of stuff that is NOT in this script. There's TONS of backstory stuff and character interaction references (mostly with Starscream and Megatron) that is NOT in the script that we've all read!

How early of a draft is this?!
I believe the script is about 1 and a half years old.....

That's one dynamic of the script i hope changes and after listening to the Q&A, i'm sure it will. In the script Megs and Star only say a line or 2 between each other....

Yeah i agree, the writers said the relationship between Megatron and Starscream would be in the movie, all we get in the script is one "Master" out of Starscream. The whole brothers thing could of been left out IMHO but it will not be a deal breaker for me. I'm sure i'll enjoy the movie either way.

I read about half of the script so far and there are some things I take some issues with, For example
Humans creating some sort of weapon against the Transformers that can kill them easily called Sabot or something
. And judging from this script, The movie would take cues from
Terminator 2 with the whole thing regarding the medal regenerating kind of like the T1000.

Did anyone notice the scene in the script where Sam(Spike) is being attacked by Brawl(cop car). It fits perfectly with that behind the scenes footage we saw on Access Hollywood.
(I may have posted this earlier.)

I know, but the script calls him Brawl, figured if I used that name, it would be easier for folks who've read the script to know what I was talking about.

Yeah, I wasn't fond of that either. It just felt like another blockbuster cliche that wasn't necessary. I mean surely the Transformers knew that heat weapons would interfere with their enemy's regeneration? They're made of the same stuff afterall.

And the date is on page one of the script. February 2006.

So there was probably 2 more drafts if we're lucky:o

What? It's not like it's some magical superweapon they convieniently created just in the nick of time to defeat this strange alien threat, it's just a powerful high heat, explosive. I dunno, how do you protect yourself from 6000 degree heat? Just because you know about something doesn't mean you have the means to defend against it. And their regeneration is due to nanomachines replicating themselves. I picture it kinda being when you burn a wound to stop the bleeding (sorry, brain fart, can't remember the technical term).

Anyways, I'm sure the Transformers know about the high energy weapons they use, but that doesn't mean their immune to them. Same thing with the sabots, how do you protect against 6000 heat?

i thought the script was alright but there needs to be changes made.
the action will be great. obviously.
but there is too many popcorn cliches and stereotypes.
its like a typical michael bay action flick.
boy likes girl, girl likes jock. boy proves to girl his worth,
the cliched smart arse comments when faced with mortal peril.
massive amounts of product placement.
and there are some embarrasing scenes that should not be in the film.
the end scene with sam in the school corridors for the cliched kiss. yuck.

i dont like how its more a human story. [excpected it though.]
the only TF's that resemble their original incarnations in personality is prime.
starscream has to get more screentime. in fact all TFs do. most of them bar bumblebees cutesy radiosong talk and prime get no depth or screentime at all. and only their names will be recognisable.
where is jazz's cool persona.
ironhide has some of his gruff personality but not enough.
ratchet, he does no fixing or repairing.
and poor starscream.

it will be satisfying to see the tfs on the bigscreen in this film. it will be entertaining. but why all the cliches.
That sentence alone kills my hopes.

The issues is that the whole regeneration thing contradicts the whole thing about Ratchet. Hes the Medic who can repair autobots when there wounded in battle.

ever see batman begins

The only difference being that Batman Begins was actually a good movie that didn't really need very many script rewrites.

Spoiler below:

The part where Frenzy and Barricade (the cop car, so it's Brawl in the script) are driving around and pull up Spike's info (picture and address) sssssoooooo reminds of Terminator 2 also, when the T-1000 is driving around looking for John Conners! That's the vibe i got from that scene....

Well, if Wikipedia is correct based upon the info culled from the yahoo Webcast ratchet is still the Autobot Medic.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers_(2007_film)

I'm hoping all they did was take out some of the best scenes from the Prime Directive script like the chase with Barricade and Spike's meeting Optimus and rewrote stuff to make it less -INO like.

As long as they take out the stuff involving the high heat weapons, Humans shouldn't kill Transformers, Transformers can only kill Transformers, Thats how its always been.

And when the autobots landed. Besides looking like T-1000, way too WOTWish.

it had alot of unnatural dialogue that was changed. but begins had alot of stupid stuff like the microwave emitter and stuff.

the transformers script is pretty good, IMO. i think with the rewrites it will be alot better and truer to the characters. i found it to be a very fun read, and spike was a relatable character. brought me back to movies like the goonies and lost boys, or back to the future. I mean, it's not shawshank redemption, but it works great as a summer blockbuster and it treats the source material with respect. it's not like they're disrespecting the franchise like schumacker did with batman.

wow, that's some good reasoning there, fanboy.
