I was wondering about something. The dialogue between Sam and Megatron. How the hell did Megatron learn to speak english? There no mention of him learning it from the time he awakes to his confrontation for the cube.Plus there was no computers around before he got frozen in 1899 for him to learn it the way Prime did, so......

Maybe through simple observation like Namor did in UFF?

Why then didn't Prime and co, who had been out and about for some time not learn it the same way?

the autobots just downloaded the entire internet to learn english when they arrived on earth. megatron could have done the same thing once he escaped. besides, maybe he was awake all that time in cyrogenic suspension.

Maybe he only knows 70's blackploitation "Jive Talk"

That would explain a lot... jive turkey... gimme some skin!

God, I freaking hate the whole cliched Sam plot. For ONCE, can we get a kid who is too scared to talk back to government officials who have, y'know, GUNS?!

It would also be refreshing to see a movie where the military are not portrayed as G.I.Joe-ish superheroes, but that's not happening in this one either.

For the military to be as powerless against the TF's as they were in the original.

Of course it sets itself up for the sequel and continuation of the franchise, which should mean the ones we didn't see this time around may be in the second, and those that died, well.....

Megatron, "**** man, that honky mus' be messin' my old lady... got to be runnin' cold upside down his head. You know?"

i believe i read somewhere that they were powerless

Well, I finally decided to sit down and read it. I didn't have too many gripes about the story as a non-Transformer fan. The ignorant movie-goers will probably have fun. However, as a devoted fan, of course most of it makes me hurl. The biggest problem for me was it seemed to take aspects from a lot of different films and smash them together to make this one.

-The silver orbs seemed to come from X:Men Evolution or Terminator.
-Linking Sam's great grandfather to the original discovery of Megatron is right out of National Treasure, they even used glasses as the map.
-Keeping Megatron around in a base deep below the ground, say it with me now: Independence Day.

Transformers deserves better than this. Especially considering this is a McGuffin story.

Oh, and scriptwriters, listen to me closely. You don't take a tagline like "more than meets the eye" and give it to a character. DO NOT USE THAT PHRASE IN THE MOVIE ITSELF!!! DO YOU KNOW HOW STUPID THAT WOULD SOUND ON SCREEN? AND YOU WROTE IT TWICE!!! DO YOU EVEN GO BACK AND READ WHAT YOU WROTE OR JUST SHIP IT OFF AND HOPE SOMEONE ELSE DOES BETTER??? TAKE SOME PRIDE IN YOUR WORK FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!

Actually I thought it was quite clever. In the script all of our technology and machines originated when they studied Megatron...which is why it makes sense for them to be able to interface with our wireless communications, including internet.

It's a shame considering they had a very neat and original mythos they could have stuck to. To this day everytime I see a big hill or mountain I imagine an alien ship in it.

Antarctica? Well, considering I'm not every likely to go there, it's not so awe-inspiring or thought-provoking. AND it's cliched beyond belief (The Thing, X-Files, Alien vs Predator, etc).
