First Avenger OFFICIAL: SEBASTIAN STAN is BUCKY!

Maybe Buckey, in the movie, will be America's entry for the Invaders. He and Cap could meet that way so he's already established and realistic, like Brubaker's more solider than Boy Wonder version.
I like the Winter Solider story, it could make a good second Cap movie

there is no way they could do justice to it...to do the Wintersoldier story would put him on the path of taking over as Cap...and I just dont see them doing that

just because they do Winter Soldier doesnt mean he has to take over as Cap. this could easily be a point where the movie splits away from the comics. looks like most people are in favor of WS anyways.

most people like the WS story because it groomed Bucky into taking over as Cap. It would be like trying to do the DPS without killing Jean at the end or Death in the Family without Robin dying at the end.
What would really be the point of doing Winter Soldier if you arent going to have him replace Steve????
Most people were in favor of Venom showing up in a Spider-man film...Gambit in a X-men film...didnt quite pan out.

Yeah, or a DPS where Cyclops gets killed off in the beginning of the movie, and she never actually has the phoenix effect, or where she destroys Prof. X's body.....

oh, wait:csad:

exactly there is no way in Ra's green earth they will be able to convert over 100 issues into a viable story for a 2 hour film

Er, no. People liked it from the start, well before he became Cap. And Brubaker didn't even intend for him to become Cap when he wrote it (something that only developed as he was expanding on his original idea for "The Death of Captain America"). Doing "Winter Soldier" in no way requires that he replace Steve; it's about Cap uncovering a secret of the past, foiling Lukin's scheme, and going all out to save his best friend.

I don't know where you're getting that figure from. "Winter Soldier" (counting "Out of Time" as part of it) is 13 issues long, one of which is a Jack Monroe one-shot that wouldn't be in it; even assuming that the only reason to do "Winter Soldier" is to adapt Brubaker's entire run in a single film, which is a ridiculous assumption, that's only 60 issues.

I think "Winter Soldier" is probably more a third Cap movie than a second.

People like Bru's Cap from the start...people like the WS/Buckycap because they feel he brings something new to the mantle of Captain America.
Again Cap #1 focuses on WW2
Cap#2 should focus on him dealing with his modern villains and dealing with the modern world.Have him deal with the "death" of Bucky.

By having the WS come in the 2nd movie you have to either follow the storyline or diverge from it. I dont see them following the storyline since they signed Evans to a 6-9 pic deal. Which means they diverge from it. So they either kill him at the end, keep him alive(which takes away from Steve's uniqueness as a man out of time) and goes away or becomes his sidekick or partner(which then the basass WS character gets marginalized since its Cap's movie and not Bucky's).

Think of it like this. Nolan comes out to do the Superman reboot and his first move is casting Doomsday. Yay we are gonna get Death of Superman. Nope. We have him in the movie but we arent gonna kill Superman.

of Star Trek 2 news comes and someone is cast as Khan.Hell yeah Space Seed or Wrath of Khan. No we are doing the remake of Trouble with Tribbles.

To bring these characters in and not follow the story to its logical conclusion would be stupid.

i disagree. its a movie i dont expect it to follow the comics note for note. and i fully expect WS to show up not only in Caps movies but others as well. who cares if hes not the main focus?

Steve dying is not the logical conclusion of the Winter Soldier story. It's where the comics ended up going, but he came back, and now both he and Bucky are around; they can be a team in the comics. If there are more movies after #3, they can just have him be Steve's partner, as he presumably will be in #1.

Winter Soldier shouldn't happen until Cap 3...there's at least one or two good Cap stories that we need to see before we bring Bucky in and kill him off :-P.

they will probably have him be more solider like and less cheesy sidekick deal. So they can build him up to be a good young solider guy. So then if/when they adapt the winter solider storyline if they go that root they have him built up a bit. As for invaders that would be an interesting idea to say he is with them already before steve comes around. Also i was thinking its said we might be getting 6 members in the team. So steve and bucky are more then likely 2, union jack 3rd, maybe they will have peggy be a member in the film to be a spy for the invaders or something so that would make 4. Then as for last two members i dont really know who i would pick from.

Captain America 1 - Red Skull and killing off Bucky. Captain America 2 - Crossbones and modern day shenanigans. Captain America 3 - Winter Soldier.

I would say...

The First Avenger: Captain America- Steve in World War 2, ending with the unfreezing in the present.

Captain America 2: Post Avengers (the first film), focuses on Brubakers Cap including the Winter Soldier.

Captain America 3: Red, White and Black- Telling the tale of Isiah Washington and how Steve reacts to that part of America's history.

Cap 1:WW2
Cap 2:Modern world fighting Baron Zemo
Cap 3:Red Skull Returns

Agreed this is how these movies should play out. I hope they don't try to do winter soldier to early.

Well I mean if Iron Man is any indication, they might bring in Winter Soldier in part II. War Machine some thought wouldn't show up until IM3.

I'd go:

Captain America 1: Period Piece.
Captain America 2: Introduce The Falcon and Sharon Carter + a modified version of the secret Empire storyline where Cap quits (I know Superheroes quit a lot in movies, but this is different...this would establish Steve as an individual beyond being a symbol. He wouldn't quit being a superhero, he'd quit being CAPTAIN AMERICA...which says a lot about who he is, and what he stands for; freedom over serving the government. This is imo, one of his most important storylines.)
Captain America 3: Winter Soldier.

Instead of recasting for Cap 4-6, they could kill Cap off at some point in Cap 3 or at the beginning of Cap 4, and have Stan take over as Cap.

I'd actually flip flop your Red White and Black and Avengers stories. It'd be extra interesting because if Cap and his new partner The Falcon were discovering this together, it could cause friction between them.

Here's one thing people don't realize; if you have Winter Soldier show up within 2 years of Cap waking up, it's not nearly as big of a shock for Cap. In the comics it was such a shock cause Cap had been awake 10-15 years in Comic continuity, had come to some terms with Bucky's death (though not too great of terms) and discovered he'd been alive all this time....if you do that as the first solo movie after Cap wakes up, it becomes pretty meaningless.

well the Winter Soldier could easily show up in Iron Man 3 or The Incredible Hulk 2 as a shadowy type of assassin. then he could show up in full force in Cap 3, with maybe a few hints here and there in Cap 2.

sweet I felt like I was the only one who thought this

totally with stan signed on for possible multi film deal. They could easily go with the whole "death" in WW2 with steve. Then in avengers/im3/etc.... films we get small cameos/mentions of a mystery hitman. Then in a later sequel for solo cap to bring out to steve this hitman is bucky who is still alive and go from there. As for death of steve i doubt they have any plans to do that for a long time on film.

yeah, i think people are focusing on WS only showing up in Cap sequels when he could actually pop up anywhere. thats your slow build up right there. he got around in the comics i can see him causing havoc all throughout the Marvel Movieverse.

yup with this marvel studios film verse and characters operating/living in the same world together. They could easily bring up points in say avengers or im3 that alot of big political kills like kenedy, to other figures in history from 40s-present were done by WS to build up the character. Then yea leave it to a later cap film to reveal to steve that WS is bucky and he is alive. it will be us fans though who see possibly in these smaller roles that it is bucky.
