I don't think Potter is crttic proof at all not with the string of movies it has had. Ok i'll drop my bias on the films and say that the first one was good ( In the fans perspective.) but alot of hardcore fans even agree that it has been going down hill and I think at this point there are people who are on the fence. With enough bad reviews those people could fall off the fence.

But yea TM is only one week away from Potter it comes out the week before Potter does. I don't think TM will be the huge success alot of others think it will be but I still think it could hurt Potter. Plus the Rat Movie, Evan Almighty, Fantastic Four, and the new Die Hard will all still be in theaters. Fantastic Four and Evan will be ending their runs shortly after so they will do very little but the Rat movie and Die hard will still be fairly recent.

I agree the monster movies (SM3/shrek/POTC) are the ones with the 300+ potential potter has a shot but FF2/TM etc no chance.

also I think simpsons is a dark horse waiting to expolde, if not domestically than certainly WW.

if sony have any sense they will leave him to tell the lizard story.
there will almost certainly be pressure on sam to include more villians (mechandising/games) but sam has to be strong and INSIST lizard is the only villian for the movie.

after lizard is made then sony can screw up spidey for all I care because all the villians I wanted to see would have been made.

Well if you think that about the simpsons maybe you should worry a little more about Potter because only two weeks later The Simpsons comes out as well as a movie with alot of buzz known as Skinwalkers some people even think it will be bigger than Simpsons.

I don't think Mysterio could carry a main plot and Hobgoblin would just be annoying after the first three movies throwing the Greengoblin in our faces over and over.

Sony doesn't want to get rid of him he is considering leaving because basically he is being BEGGED to do The Hobbit.

I don't want it to be just the lizzard I want a minor very minnor secondary villian. Like the Camilian or Shocker maybe even the Scorpion. Lets face it none of those three can carry a movie on their own and need to be thrown in. Plus I just really don't like the single villian format unless the movie isn't going to be anywhere near the length of the other ones.

I don't mind the under current of a secondary villian and I like the idea of camileon(sp) impersonating spidey to rob banks so it spidey v lizard v the police but the focus has to be on conners' family, that's one of my favorite story lines in ASM history and I'll be bitterly disappointed if they screw it up.

GG - dissappointed with the look but loved the character
lizard - well fingers crossed
GG2 - loved it (obviously no time to see harry on drugs)
hobgoblin - doubt I'll see this on the big screen

venom - couldn't care less so wasn't bothered he was destoyed by sam in his 15 cameo

I know Hobgoblin would not be a popular choice, but his early appearances some of the most interesting Spidey comics, and I would love to see a movie revolving around this mysterious goblin (works best as a franchise ender, since the goblin was felt in all previous movies).

Mysterio could easily carry the main plot. He has a lot of potential many don't see. You can go with a revenge and/or madness angle with him. He could be visually amazing, also. I think Scorpion could work well with him, as JJJ makes Scorpion to ruin Spider-Man and Mysterio could parade as Spider-Man in order to ruin his name (I saw this idea somewhere in the sequels forum, and liked it).

Goblin - They are all the same to me like you disappointed int he look but the story was very well done.

Morbios- Not gonna happen
Scorpian - Maybe
Shoocker - Doubtful
A bunch of other guys and my least fave was Doc Ock so you can picture my disappointment in SM2

Was on a downward Spiral and even though it gained back some it never made it back to where it started and never reclaimed it's glory.

As far as Mysterio goes as much as I like him I can't see a plot with him as the main focus as very interesting at all. I enjoy him as a secondary guy but he bores me as a main villian.

I would love it. It is almost the opposite of one of my favorite Batman:TAS episodes - Perchance to Dream, in which the Mad Hatter locks Bruce in a perfect dream world so Batman would be out of his life.

There are many things you can do with Mysterio, and I feel him to be very underrated.

that's exactly the episode I was thinking of but in this day and age there is no way on this green earth you couldn't completely cover up the main bad guy. pity.

With the media today, it would be impossible. The secret would come out.

But still, Mysterio is a great villain, and deserves some screen time! I think it is a shame that he is mostly known for a DD story and being a member of a six man team. I think he has a lot of cinematic potential. Plus, I NEED to hear a fishbowl joke!

However, the Lizard deserves to be next.

I haven't read past HP4... but if the books are liked the movies will be good... people thought the Golbet of Fire was far superior to TSS follow ups... thats why it made a killing... Order will be up there with HP3/4.... right in between is my bet...

Being an fan of the HP books I believe that the movies have slowly become worse. So many plots get left out of the movies expecially 3 and 4 and most likely order of the phoenix as well.

I think it has less to do with the books and more to do on the release date. The second film didn't make as much as the first because it was released just one year after the first, just look at POTC 3, same release pattern and will finish 100-110 million less than the previous POTC. Harry Potter is very much a winter film, it always has been and has done the best in a winter slot. HP4 came out 1.5 years after number 3 with a great release date in the winter...which equaled box office gold. While I expect number 5 do to better than number 3 I don't think it will reach the heights of number 1 and 4, but could get close at 260-280 million. It's all speculation of course though, so we'll see how it all pans out.
