The best Villain out there is Kraven and he has not been mentioned yet...clearly this a role for Timothy Olypant ala this look in dead wood

I mean really is there any other strong actor out there you can think of in this role as a human hunter that is trying to catch the deadliest prey..also he doesn't look like a 70's porn star with the stache

You could work the Lizard in as well, with Kraven actualy hunting down both a hero and villain in a kind of wier ANti hero type role

Pirates is going to crawl to $300 million. How sad. It should have made $400 million easily.

No it wont....it fell 62.5% ...if it continues like this and it will cause new movies are coming every week it will be happy to make 290

And BTW Spidey fell 47% and with 2 new movies + S3 and Pirates 3 and the fact it lost around 300 theaters that's great

$ 400 mil domestic is never easy to achieve, not for any franchise.

Great result for Knocked Up, which will generate a lot of profit thanks to its low budget. But I'm afraid Universal is going to need that profit to cover their ass on the insane amount of money they've spent on Evan Almighty.

No, that's not the case. The box office was on a downward momentum with Potter 2 and Potter 3, but the box office went back up with Potter 4.

And wasn't Potter 4 the first to get an IMAX release? Potter 5 is going to IMAX with a 3D ending, I'd imagine that's going to be a big plus. (and I think the Potter movies have gotten better as the go along too)

Disney executives expected such a rate of success domestically based on the first sequel's box office results. From a business standpoint, objectively speaking, you have to believe that Pirates should have pushed for $400 million, considering DMC made $435 million. I know that $400 million domestically has only ever happened, er...7 times in the industry's history? But alas, Pirates 3 will fail to make it 8.

Disney let their pride cost them cash, because in August there wouldn't have been as much heat on AWE in theatres. Instead, Shrek 3 and Spider-Man 3 quenched some of the thirst of movie-goers prior to AWE's release.

Like I've always said, there wasn't that hunger. The Matrix Reloaded made $281 million domestic...Revolutions released later that year made $139 million.

Disney should have waited another year or two.

And only 5 films have crossed $ 400 mil domestic in their initial theatrical release. Very tough number to reach.

Pirates 3 is going to perform below expectations domestically, but will probably still gross over $ 900 mil worldwide, maybe even over a billion depending on how big of a tear it goes on overseas. Probably 65-70% of its worldwide box office will come from overseas.

So it's likely to be one of the top 10 highest grossing films of all time (in unadjusted terms) and to make an excellent return on its budget, which should surely temper any disappointment with its domestic numbers.

Wow. And it's still got some gas left in the tank. $900 million here we come.

And finally here are the three movies compared:

Spider-Man : $821,708,551

Spider-Man 2 : $783,766,341

Spider-Man 3 : $843,964,000

I still think 1 billion too ambitious to hope for, but stranger things have happened. It would need to garner about $120 million more overseas for that, because it won't talley more than $30 million more domestically from here on out.

I wonder if Sony's thinking of deleting the American flag shot from the dvd right now...

if spidey 3 had attained spidey 1 figures domestically i.e. 400M it would have done billion WW easily. still has a (slight) chance though.

Well the thing is Spidey2 is probably the best movie quality wise, but Spidey3 is a action packed movie which demands more repeated viewings...

Spider-Man 3's overseas box office #'s have been updated thru June 3rd. Updated Spider-Man 3 WW #'s below.

In terms of unadjusted worldwide box office, Spider-Man 3 is now the highest grossing comic book film.
